Seconds passed as the distance between them got smaller and smaller. A few spells had even come quite close to hit them. It was clear they can’t keep on running the whole time. They can’t engage in a fight in such populated area. It wouldn’t take long before they’ll be surrounded by reinforcements.
‘Alex, what are you thinking about?’ Miracle asked
‘A way to escape them… I don’t think fighting them is a good idea. Neither do I think that surrendering is an option. They might torture me, long before any help from Merissa comes, if at all.’
‘Your thinking is correct but at the moment, you need to get back to Earth because she’s the only who can get us out of this problem.’
‘What problem?’ Alex asked feeling that Miracle was referring to something other than the one he was currently in.
‘That stone… no, now’s not the time, first, loose those insects!’
Although Alex wanted to ask what was so concerning about the stone that even Miracle himself was feeling a bit uncomfortable, he held it back.
“Come on! We’ll go through here!” Alex said as he pulled Blake along with him on the main road and out of the alleyways. Blake although reluctant didn’t argue as they the alleyways were becoming narrow and narrow as they went further.
“Oi! Is there a place nearby where we can lose them?” Alex asked.
“There is a market just 20 minutes away but we’ll need to put some distance between us.” Blake said wondering what he was up to.
“Okay then! Let’s create obstacles!” Alex then quickly drew his sword. As they were running, he found an over bridge ahead. As soon as the two passed under it, Alex launched his mana slashes while Blake released his mana balls. Some of the guards chasing them got held back as part of the bridge broke and obstructed their way.
“This won’t hold all of them back.” Blake said as he glanced back.
They quickly deviated from the pedestrians walking on the footpath and were now running in between the vehicles on the road. Much like earth, the vehicles here weren’t much different with some different structural designs here and there.
Alex felt like a foreigner here but still felt somewhat related. Although the sky was green it wasn’t much different from earth. The people around in a hurry wanting to get somewhere, the noisy vehicles, busy streets. But the only major difference was the people. Not all were human. There were some resembling some sort of an animal, some just had fur, some weren’t recognizable at all to him.
“Quick we can’t let them mix with the public. We have to capture them quickly!” One of the guards said as his spear began to glow.
“Don’t!” Another one stopped him as he grabbed his spear. He was the one who was leading the group the whole time. He had a dark red band around his arm which signified that he was their captain.
“If we recklessly release our spells here then it can possibly harm the people.” The captain explained. ‘They deliberately came out in the open so that we can’t fire our spells! Bastards!’ The captain thought to himself as he tried to come up with some plan.
Up ahead where Alex and Blake were running, they soon came across a junction. “We’ll have to take a left ahead and minute later there’s slope which leads to the market.” Blake explained.
“Got it!” Alex said as his sword began to glow with black mana.
“Oi human what are you thinking. Oi!” Blake kept yelling at Alex whose face was turned away from him. Alex turned his face around with sweat covering his face, a weird goofy yet fearful smile.
“-_-”
Blake froze at Alex’s weird expression. “L-lets cause a-an accident!!” Alex said fumbling. He was shivering with fear right down to his every bone. The feeling of being out of place, chased by unknown people, it all pressed him mentally.
As soon as they reached in the middle of the junction Alex released a barrage of mana slashes continuously in every direction. Of course, he made sure none of his attacks hit the cars or people.
His main aim was to startle everyone. And it worked everyone lost control of their vehicles and began to crash into each other though no major accidents happened. He then turned around looking at the approaching guards.
“Now to throw some dust in their eyes.” Alex said to Blake as the mana began to rise into the air from Blake’s fist.
“This better work human!” Blake yelled before a large mana fist was formed around his own. He raised it in the air above before smashing it on the open road in front of him.
*BOOM*
The explosion was quite powerful as compared to when Blake had used it against Alex. The ground beneath gave in as dust and fine particles of stone breaking raised up in the air completely blocking everyone’s vision.
“Shit! Air element users give chase from above, the rest with me! We need to handle the situation here!” The captain of the guards commanded.
However, despite their good coordination Alex and Blake were now nowhere to be found amidst all the chaos of people running amok.
