Marceline was standing there with tears in her eyes. Her hands were covering her mouth. "Here... he left this for you", I mumbled, my head facing the ground. I tossed her the ring box and she sobbed. "Lorenzo", she screamed at the top of her lungs. She started sobbing terribly. I grit my teeth, holding back my pain and anger. I checked his pulse, already knowing of his living status. "He's dead". "No-"! "Yes", I shouted. Everyone stopped to stare at me. "Lorenzo's dead and it's my fault. I swear to you Lorenzo... I'll avenge you. No matter what the cost". I stood up and looked at Marceline.
"I'll avenge your husband"! My hair flared up in the air and once again died. It became short and white just like it was. My eyes gained back their dead gray color and the patchwork appeared back on my skin. I balled my fist and turned to the guy holding the gun. "You... I'm gonna kill you"! By now he was shaking, he dropped the gun. I started releasing Chlorine from my body. He grabbed at his chest and red patches started popping up on his skin. He fell to the ground, wheezing. I walked up to him and grabbed his chin. "That's right... suffer. Just like he did"!
I grabbed him by the neck and punched him in the face. "Please"! I kept punching him, besides his begging. I punched him over, and over, and over. Eventually he was out cold. "Marceline... you can do the rest". I watched as she pulled out her gun and shot him. Once, twice, a third time, and one more time. I grit my teeth and balled my fist. "Where's carbon"? Clover walked up to me. "Blitz-". "Leave me the hell alone. I'm not in the mood right now". I got in the car I got there in. I started slamming on the steering wheel, crying. "I'm sorry Lorenzo... I'm so sorry". About a week later was Lorenzo's funeral. It was raining so we all stood over the casket with umbrellas. Clover tried wrapping his arm around me.
I pushed his hand off of me. "Today we're here to celebrate the life of Agent Lorenzo Actinium. Some of you closer to him might know him as Lorenzo Romano. He was a sharp and diligent man. A beautiful friend and father. Some even refer to him as a father, for his amazing care of 5 other agents. He will be remembered". My bottom lip started to shake as I held back tears. Marceline went up and took the stand. "My fiance was amazing... there isn't a greater word besides that. He was everything you could ask for in a man. Smart... kind... attractive", she chuckled through tears. "He passed before he could officially propose... but it was one of his last wishes. I'm gonna miss him... and I'm sure his kids will too".
Freyaj, Blade, Cherry, and Clover were all crying. Now it was time to carry the casket to the grave. The 6 of us were all assigned to carry it. Me, Cherry, Blade, Marceline, Clover, and Freyaj. 3 of us on each side, we slowly marched towards the grave. Suddenly my side felt a bit lighter, Marceline had let go. "No... why me! Why did he have to go", she sobbed. Part of me wanted her to be strong, the other part felt like it was all my fault. I let all the tears out. My eyes were hot and they tickled my face. "Blitz-", Blade was cut off. "Shut up... just walk. Be strong for her... be strong for him". After the funeral we all went back to HQ. We were told we could take a break there until we were ready to continue going on.
Months passed. Everyone was still a bit heartbroken on the inside, but fine for the most part. Marceline was the worst of all of us though. The Professor had decided to break all of us up again. Apparently, good things can't happen when we're all together. He said we'll group together again with time, maybe another three years. Our next toxin we had to fight was Uranium. They lived all the way in Hawaii. "Are you guys ready to go", I asked as we packed our bags. "It's been a while but... I think we're ready", Clover said. "Yeah, I miss kicking people's asses", Freyaj laughed.
