The young black haired Sentient, Aaron, and another girl around the same age as him with yellow hair got out of a military vehicle to enter the City of Cadim. Both of them wore their military uniforms, Aaron wore the standard uniform while the yellow haired girl wore a Persian Blue Jacket instead of the standard black color with two stars above the emblem. The city was most known for its massive Casino and the rich Gambits Plaza. Even though the Gambits Plaza is a very wealthy suburb, the rest of the city is quite dangerous and is infamous for its lack of military control and was often a haven for anything that the Supreme General has deemed illegal. Aaron and his female partner, Tami, came in search for any information that this city may have. The squad that both Sentients belonged to, have decided to exact vengeance against the Half who they believe killed Nino. General Nomrick and Mona went to Windsor to get information from the place where the Half previously resided, while everyone else left for cities further away like Cadim and Lokston.
"What are we searching for in Cadim exactly?" asked Tami suspiciously, "Why can't we find that Half too?"
Aaron sighed as he repeated for the third time, "Well, our squad received a tip that there would be a meeting between some rebel folkes, Captain Limarri. And our Squad has to respond to it even if the others are out to find the Half that killed Commander Sterriz, That is why General Nomrick sent the two of us here."
"But why is it that only we have to, though?" asked the annoyed girl while looking around, "And I told you, just call me Tami."
"True, but if we ignore tips and stuff like this, it would be very bad for General Nomrick," Aaron quickly replied, trying to calm his annoyed friend, "Why else would the General send us here?"
Tami shrugged it off and said, "It's because of that glasses wearing tramp! Who does Miss Secretary think she is to order us around like that?"
Aaron responded, "She's the Secretary of Command."
"Barely!" complained Tami, "All she is, is an over glorified Assistant that the General uses to communicate with! As far as I'm concerned, Iso is the real SoC."
Aaron simply shrugged and said, "No matter who sent us here or for what reason, we are here now and we should just do our job."
Tami sighed and said, "I guess you're right, Newbie. So then, where exactly should we go then?"
Aaron thought to himself, and said, "Well, the tip we received did say that there were a few spots where this meeting could take place." Aaron quickly jotted down some information on a blank piece of paper and handed it to Tami, "How about you go check out those spots and I'll go check out the rest Captain Limarri?"
Tami snatched the page from him as she said, "Yeah alright sure. And just call me Tami!" The yellow haired Sentient looked over the page that Aaron gave him and asked, "Do all of these go to the South Side?"
Aaron simply nodded and Tami sighed as she continued, "That is... how do I put it, the shady side of town. You know, the part of town that aren't too fond of the Military. So I suppose this doesn't need to be said, but be careful."
Aaron nodded once again when the too split up from each other. Tami went North and Aaron went South. He passed through several destroyed or partially destroyed buildings. These ruined buildings were very common, especially so in cities with no militant control. These buildings were remnants of the old Humans that ruled the world before the Sentients came into power, before the Supreme General came into power. Although most of their technology had been destroyed and replaced with even better alternatives created by other Sentients, a lot of old Human technology could be found in the Outer Cities or with Humans. As Aaron traveled deeper into the bar, he noticed a bar. That was one of the spots where they were tipped off about and so he entered the bar to maybe interrogate some people for information.
"Mr Mosrin! You're back earlier than we thought," a beautiful lady with long straight green hair in a waitress outfit greeted Aaron and froze when she realized that he wasn't who she thought he was, "Oh sorry sir, I thought you were someone else. Would you like a seat?"
"Yeah of course," said Aaron as he took a quick look through the bar. Everyone was staring at him with dirty glares since they noticed his military badge. One person who didn't bother looking at him was a man alone in the corner seemingly waiting for someone to arrive. He noticed the man had red spiky hair with yellowish tips and what looked like stitches going down from his ears. He also had what looked like a lizard or gecko tattooed on his left arm. The gecko was a symbol for one of the three big factions of the Rebellion. The red headed man was probably affiliated with them in some way. Not being hasty, Aaron sat down at the bar, not too far away from the man in the corner.
The bartender, a shorter, stubbier man, came to him and asked, "Hello my good man, what would you like to drink this fine day?"
"Uhm… just give me some juice… apple please," Aaron asked as he eyed the red headed man in the corner.
"You came to a bar that sells alcohol for juice?" questioned the bartender as he folded his arms.
Aaron's gaze shifted from the red head to the bartender as he explained, "I saw there was juice in the fridge when I walked in."
The bartender coughed as he said, "That juice is meant to be mixed with to make cocktails sir. It's not supposed to be sold. But hey, If you will pay for it, I'll give it to ya! 5 Krell for the Apple Juice friend!"
Aaron nodded as he placed a 5 Krell note onto the bar table. The bartender took the 5 Krell and poured Aaron a beer mug full of apple juice. As Aaron took the mug, he heard movement behind him. When he turned around, he heard two Sentients mumbling behind him. Aaron quickly glanced to the man in the corner with red hair, but noticed he left already.
Aaron sighed and stood up from the bar when he said, "On second thought. I'd rather just go. Keep the 5 Krell Mr Bartender."
When Aaron stood up, two other guys stand up with him. They both looked like your typical thug. More people began moving around in the back of the bar.
"Excuse me gentlemen, I would really like to leave," explained Aaron, trying to avoid a fight.
One of the thugs laughed when heard Aaron and sarcastically said, "Oh, sorry sir. Being in the military must make you very busy."
Aaron tried to walk past them but they closed the gap that he wanted to go through preventing Aaron from leaving.
"Listen buddy," said the other thug, "We noticed what you're wearing. You know what happens to people with that outift on this side of town right?" He gave Aaron the creepiest smile when he continued, "There is a reason this place is not under the military's control."
Aaron sighed as he tried to explain, "Listen, I'm not going to hurt you for no reason…"
Before Aaron could continue, he was interrupted by one of the thugs, "Oh how noble of you, military man! Choosing not to fight! We don't wanna fight either, we just wanna teach you a quick lesson."
Aaron noticed a snake tattoo curving around his neck when he spoke. He knows that it is the mark of one of the Rebellion factions. Another thing that Cadim was known for was the infamous amount of fugitives from the Rebels who fled there. Cadim was considered by many to be a lawless City controlled by the Rebels. The Rebellion had been a long time nuisance to the Military ruling the Sentients. The Rebellion's goal was to end the Supreme General's control of the Sentients. Although the majority of the population believe in his justice, the rebellion had amassed a massive amount of people who challenged him and his military oriented system of rule.
Aaron stepped away from them when he raised his hands defensively and said, "Well I'm not in the mood to learn anything right now. I'm just here to do my job. I don't like violence."
"Well if you don't like violence why did you join the military?" asked one of the thugs when his eyes and Sentient Crystal glowed a dark yellow. Aaron's eyes and Sentient Crystal also glowed a black shine as he stepped back.
"While I don't like violence. I'm not necessarily against it for punks like you," the dark aura surrounded Aaron's body, "So please let me pass."
The thug with the snake tattoo began laughing, "How about you see what this punk is capable of huh?"
The eyes of the other thug also began glowing a bright light. A similar aura surrounded his fists when he punched Aaron. The thug's smirk quickly changed to a frown when he saw that Aaron caught his punch. Cracks were created in the ground around Aaron and the Snake Tattoo man. The same dark aura that surrounded Aaron appeared out of the cracks. The man pulled his body back when he saw the cracks.
"Envirnonmental Manipulation huh?" the Snake Tattoo man scoffed as he pulled his fist back and turned around, "People like you are so annoying to fight. Let's go Donnie."
The other thug whipped his head around and asked, "What about this military dog, Bruce?"
As the snake Tattoo man left the bar he called out, "We don't have time, let's just head out!"
Aaron remained in the bar a bit longer while the two thug's left and silence filled the bar. Breaking the silence, The beautiful green haired waitress came up to Aaron.
She mumbled under her voice before she went up to Aaron, "Those idiots. How could they be this dumb?"
"Excuse me sir," the waitress said to Aaron in an innocent tone, "You have caused quite the trouble here and all. So we would like to ask you to please leave our establishment sir."
Aaron looked at the waitress and said, "Before I go, could I ask you some quick questions."
The waitress kept her innocent smile and asked, "I'm afraid I can't, please understand sir, you have to leave."
"Uhm yeah I know, but I am under order to get information and I would…" Aaron explained before he was interrupted.
The waitress, dropping her innocent facade, said, "Alright listen kid. Being with the military is great and all, but you clearly don't belong here. You already chased Donnie and Bruce away. I don't want you chasing away any more of our customers with this stupid military mumbo jumbo."
"But I am under orders from the military to…" Aaron tried to explain but was interrupted even further.
"That is exactly what I don't want! I don't want any of you Military types in this bar. I don't even care if you are one of those dumb Generals," the waitress went on, "Whenever the Military shows up here, there is always problems after. Now, get out."
Aaron remained wordless when he agreed and silently left the bar. He was slightly scared off by the waitress and her sudden shift in tone. Accomplishing nothing notable here, he decided to return to where he and Tami split up. The green haired waitress sighed from relief when she walked over to the bar.
"Give me a drink, Gam," demanded the green haired waitress from the bartender as she fell onto one of the bar stools, "I don't care what it is, I just need to get drunk."
"A young lady like you shouldn't drink Zinrey. Don't you have to work?" Questioned the bartender, Gam.
"It's fine, the other girls can handle the rest of the day," stated The waitress, Zinrey, as she rubbed her temple, "I had to kick that military kid out of here before more of our idiots made problems with him."
"You know, if he was serious about the military sending him here we might see some problems with the military ourselves soon," explained Gam as he wiped the counter off.
The waitress stretched back as she said, "Well he needed to be kicked out. Look at what that kid did to this place. These cracks in the ground are horrible!"
Bartender Gam sighed when he said, "Oh please! That is nothing, me or Mosrin could take care of this in a jiffy."
"Speaking of him," Zinrey leaned forward as she placed her elbows on the counter, "I can't believe I mistook that military kid for old Mosie."
While cleaning a glass and placing it on a shelf, Gam suggested, "That is why we look at our customers before just talking, Zinrey. The Aura of someone isn't always a sure fire way to know who they are."
All Sentients give off an Aura. The Aura of the Sentients is a way to identify a Sentient since everyone has a unique Aura. The stronger you are, the better you can distinguish Aura from other people. The average Sentient cannot recognize Aura as well as someone with more skill or talent. A test relating to this called the Aura test was actually a way that the military used to find talented people at a young age. Anyone who the military deemed strong had to join the military whether they wanted to or not. This form of conscription was the reason the military remained so powerful. Following a system where the strong strives and the weak remains below was why the rebellion took so long to get footing.
"You should both relax, that guy probably won't be a problem for us any more after how Zinrey scared him off," a lady with long wavy blonde hair sitting at the counter drinking said as she laughed, "That poor guy was pretty interesting though."
"What do you mean by that Theeia?" asked a curious Zinrey, "And shouldn't you pay your tab before drinking more?"
The Blonde girl laughed Zinrey's last statement off when she replied, "That guy had some pretty strong Environmental Manipulation, power like that is super rare even within the military. It sure was pretty cool to look at and totally different from anything else these crystals can do."
Zinrey looked down and realized how correct Theeia's statement was. Theeia continued with her explanation, "The Crystal can use the energy in us to strengthen our body and enhance our skills. The Astral powers that the Crystal holds physicalizes the energy within us. Both of those require the energy in us," Theeia took another slurp of her drink before continuing, "Environmental manipulation however uses both the energy inside of us and the energy around us. That has to be really really hard right?"
Gam interjected and said, "That is true, but having environmental manipulation doesn't mean you are necessarily stronger than most people. Like the energy within us, the energy of the environment can also be depleted and if that happens, Environmental Manipulators are basically powerless."
Zinrey shot her head up as she asked "Hey, what exactly is Mr. Mosrin?"
"I'm not too sure what he is either," explained Theeia before standing up, "But now that we're talking about him, It looks like he isn't showing up after all. If his meeting with those Snakes went well, he was supposed to come here, so I'm guessing it went south."
"I'll never understand you rebels," Zinrey frowned when she said, "And I'm guessing this is going onto your tab?"
Theeia chuckled when she replied, "You know me so well bestie! Well I'm off."
Gam simply chuckled as Theeia left, "Shouldn't you be working Zinrey now? You had plenty of a break."
Zinrey sighed as she stood up to go and serve customers.
