Alpha Ace’s POV
“Do 20 more push-ups. I’ll assign you to your partners later.” I ordered my pack, training all the new pups.
“How are the things I ordered?” I mind-linked my beta, Markus and he appeared later on from behind the trees.
“It has arrived, Alpha.” He replied in my link.
I looked back to my members and ordered my pack warrior to train them in my stead.
I motioned for Markus to go to my study, and as soon as we arrived, a silly smirk played on his lips as he looked at the official papers that he presented to me. “Here are the documents you asked for, Alpha.” His eyebrows furrowed, “Are you sure this will work?”
I sent daggers to him, “Are you questioning my decision, beta?”
He’s the only one in my pack who would dare to mock or tease me, and he should be thankful enough that I consider him my friend. Markus shrugged, “No... but it's strange... why did you pick that school?” He asked, “Not like I’m complaining...”
I sighed. Here comes his way of getting things done with me. I knew he was somehow plotting something wicked. “I know what you’re thinking, Markus, but it’s not that. We have to do this as I got a report from my warriors that those darn filthy monsters are around this area.” I answered.
Weakness disgusts me, and those filthy monsters I’m talking about are weak werewolves who chose to sacrifice their sanity and drink those werewolf steroids in order to gain “power”. Tsk, they were blind enough to even believe that. That crazy drug only did harm to their bodies, made our appearance to humans obvious, and gave me more paperwork to do.
It's the 21st century, and I’ve lived for many decades. Stupid human civilizations and stupid human innovations that made those werewolf steroids. I swear if I caught that inventor, I’ll make sure to torture him with every last bit of my being.
“Are you sure this is not just some lame excuse to find your mate?” Markus remarked, sweeping me away from my thoughts.
I cocked my eyebrows, “No.”
In my 180 years of living in this darn world, I never even met my mate. I stopped believing in prophecies those necromancers made and I only believed in myself.
What belongs to me, will always come to me.
A few years ago, a necromancer came and suddenly announced that my mate would be human. I did not believe him as a Lycan king. He, like me, had been fated to be a lowly human.
I could not take that humbling position. If fellow alphas know, they will surely take away my throne.
I do not accept that.
Not ever.
“Prepare your things. We’ll leave right away.” I announced to Markus as we are now on our special mission to catch those monsters.
“Alright, Alpha, as you wish.” He eagerly said, seemingly more excited to go on this mission than I am.
Hunting monsters has been Markus's favorite pastime.
I mean, I’m a monster myself, so I couldn’t just let other monsters take away my reputation. A monster can only be controlled by his fellow monsters, right?
Wearing my white long sleeve and black pants, I put on dark shades to cover my brown eyes and I dyed my silver hair black to avoid getting recognized. I hid my scent so that other werewolves wouldn’t smell me.
The moment my enemies know that I and my beta are away from my pack, they will surely take this as a chance to take over and attack. But I’ll never let that happen. I mind-linked all my warriors to report to me everything while we were away and carefully monitor and protect my pack.
I am the strongest and Markus is the second strongest, but I trust my pack members as they are also strong.
Markus beside me was wearing his usual black t-shirt and pants, carrying a backpack.
“I put your name as Mr. Jones.” He suddenly brings it up as soon as we leave my packhouse.
I raised my sunglasses, “And you?”
“I’m Mark. Short for Markus of course.” He said.
I nodded, “Remember our goal.”
“Yes, teacher. How could I forget this? For today, I'll be your student and we’re strangers.” He teasingly said and I rolled my eyes at my subordinate.
We used my Rolls-Royce car and I let Markus drive toward the planned school.
We checked in with the principal and headmaster of this school and I was on my way to my first class when I saw a hazelnut hair girl bump into me, and my eyes met with her chocolate brown eyes. I felt our hands hit for a moment and felt a spark hitting us. I gasped and shuddered a bit, it was only subtle, but it was enough to feel. I gazed at her confused eyes as she was with a boy beside her. I shook my head and cleared my throat, “Careful there, miss.”
I could feel Markus’s teasing look beside me as I proceeded to walk away.
“That was strange…eh?” His eyebrows rolled playfully, “Looks like this will be fun!”
I shook my head, giving it to Markus for always finding fun in everything. “Just go to your class now.”
“Yes, teacher!” And he left. During our Physics class, the girl was late. I found out her name was Ms. Fernandez. She looks vulnerable and weak, but I noticed she would always give remarks unexpectedly, feigning that she’s strong. I couldn’t even focus on the entire class as my eyes couldn’t help but catch sight of her…
And as soon as the class was finished, she even confronted me.
“Excuse me but do you have a problem with me, Mr. Jones?” I looked up at her from the paper I was reading and answered, “Don’t be late next time and we won’t have any problem, Miss Fernandez”
She was glaring at me and placed her hand on the table, intentionally glazing her hand over mine, and I suddenly stopped, feeling it again. That damn spark.
I matched her gaze, trying to read her expression, and she dared to meet my gaze, not backing down.
I blinked, realizing it.
No, no, no… So that prophecy was true.
She’s my mate.
Realizing that, I spent the rest of the day in shock, hiding behind the cafeteria as soon as lunch came and watching her sit alone.
I also watched as a girl slapped her on her way to the detention room. Watching her get mistreated like that irks me so much that I have to stop myself from hitting that girl.
I made sure to let her eat at the detention, wanting to treat her wound, but Markus would just tease me about it. I mean, no one has to know for now.
I even followed her home, just to see those darn monsters behind her.
So I was right. Those monsters will show up here.
I immediately called Markus and blocked my body from my mate.
“I knew she’d be your mate,” Markus commented.
“Focus on the task, Beta,” I ordered demandingly.
He avoided it and instead looked at the disgusting monster in front of us.
“Finally, these bastards finally showed up. That was easy. Let’s hunt the others, Alpha,” said Markus, his ears perking up in interest.
“Catch the others. I’ll take care of her.” I ordered him and fought with the werewolf on steroids. Things really get ugly when they do this, so I have no choice but to kill them. I then opened up the match and threw fire on the monster’s body before carrying my mate’s body.
“You’re finally safe, my mate,” I mumbled.
