I closed the door and slumped back to the bed, feeling my eyes close instantly.
This is just a dream, Kira. It will all be over soon…
Except it wasn’t. When I woke up the next day, it was too good to be true. Or not.
Mark was already waiting by the door with a food tray in hand.
“Here’s your food,” said Mark, smiling at me. “The food is at the packhouse, and I think you are not ready to face the others yet.”
This is what I hadn’t experienced compared to the time I lived in my father's and step mothers house.
I guess I shouldn’t judge my new place. Although my physics teacher and schoolmate transferee are here and I’m confused, it's a bit…not disappointing.
Instead, I’m expecting the worst.
Be a sex slave?
Although the “alpha” he calls him has assured me he won’t do anything like that, I can’t help but still feel worried for myself. I only have myself after all.
“I didn’t know what food you like to eat so I chose everything that human likes. You can dig in now.”
Mark left me to finish the breakfast and I dug in, It was a piece of beef with a burger, fries, fruits and vegetable salad, and soup. It was too much, a bit-perfect meal for me as I thought I couldn't eat everything but I did.
Mark returned a few minutes after and beamed at me, “Oh, I have a surprise for you.”
He took me to a room wherein a beautiful young lady was waiting for me.
I blinked numerous times, not believing it.
No. Goodness.
I cannot.
This is not real, isn’t it?
I am not dreaming.
The woman sitting there was the person I didn’t expect. It was no other than my aunt.
I trembled at the sight, wanting to drop to the floor as my shaky lips let out her name, “A-Aunt?”
Her attention was drawn to me as she turn around and a shock was expressed on her face, along with a welcoming smile, “Kira? You here!”
I blinked, trying to process it for a while before gulping. “H-how?” I thought aunt died already?
Didn’t Bryce already tell me about it? I even saw her body!
Please someone wake me up before I will get lost in this. Please don’t let me hope for something that is not even real.
She smiled warmly and stretched out her hand to hug me.
I instantly ran to her and embraced her. “Aunt! It is you!”
Tears suddenly swelled down my face and I sniffed, “Aunt! I thought you died!: She chuckled, wiping away the tears in my eyes. She rested her forehead on mine and looked at me, “The alpha saved me.”
Did I hear Alpha? As in Alpha Ace?
“What? Aunt, are you sure?” I asked, trying to ask again.
And there’s something to be amiss. Aunt feels strange. She didn’t change…more like she…is normal now.
Not like her usual…deranged self.
I checked her pulse, her forehead temperature, and her heartbeat and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
A plan then formed in my head. Since Aunt is already healed up and alive, it felt like I just had another reason to live now.
I am thankful I survived knowing my aunt is alive.
“Why not we escape now? We can go.” I proposed and she raised her eyebrows.
“Where?”
I shrugged, grabbing her hands and smiling, “Somewhere. Far from here, aunt.”
She puckered her lips, trying to think about it, and seemed to be against the idea, “To the humans? Then we have to hide.”
I sighed, “At least we don’t owe anyone anything. It’s just you and me. No one would harm us there. No dad, no stepmom, and no other strange person.”
She paused and stared at me, “Why escape when they treat us better here?
Then I remembered what I needed to clarify. “You know that Alpha…Ace aunt? He is saying that I am a werewolf? And I am his mate? I think they are delusion-“
Aunt tilted her head to the side. “Why? We are…one of them…a werewolf.”
I blinked, “Wechat? Me included?” I thought aunt is already healed up yet she’s here, agreeing with them.
Did they feed something to her to make me believe them? Or aunt not…completely back to normal?
Whatever the case, I have to get us out of here since now that I have someone by my side to fight this world. That is enough for me.
Aunt then cupped my cheeks and made me look at her, “Kira, listen to me. What they are saying is true. We are werewolves. And you’ll soon know what we are capable of. You’ve been deprived of the truth, your whole existence was a lie, and now that Alpha Ace is helping us, please listen to him. You’ll soon discover your true origins.”
Aunt was not able to finish as she was shaking as her eyes instantly closed and she fell on her bed.
“Pack doctor!” A man’s voice suddenly appeared as the door opened, and Beta Mark entered the room.
Another man came and instantly helped my aunt.
My heart instantly beat and I trembled, seeing my aunt in that state again. I felt like air is suffocating me as if I was drawn back to that time.
No, I don’t want to see her suffer anymore. This is too traumatizing
Mark then grabbed my hand, trying to calm me down. “You are panicking now. Try to calm down and breathe. Your aunt will be fine.”
I nodded, biting my lip as I took a deep breath, “Why is she fainting?”
“I’m sure you must be confused, I’ll explain it to you. We saw her cold body at the morgue, Alpha Ace took her as she is infected with werewolf steroids. I know that your think that your aunt must have gone mad or crazy, but it’s not. The steroids that infected her were responsible for hiking her up.” He slowly but surely explained.”
It took a lot for me to process what he said. “What? You’re saying that my aunt is…normal all along?”
“Yes. But because she once used the werewolf steroids and got addicted, she just has to receive a medicine we make to counteract the steroid and stabilize her vitals. She has not been receiving her medicine because she’s stuck with humans. With her, she would be able to return to normal as she rests.”
I nodded, “thank you…”
“I’ll leave you alone with her. Just call me if you need me, alright?”
