Back To Those Days [4]

Back To Those Days [4]

Jan 14, 2023

Jun's hold on Su Yi tightened when he saw the duo before them. Why hadn't he been quicker? Then they wouldn't be having this face-off right now, and Su Yi would safely be at the apartment away from these people and this depressive house.

"Sir, is there a problem?" His words were bitter and without an ounce of politeness. He knew from experience that when Su Yi and her so-called parents were in the same room, nothing good ever came out of it. So mentally preparing himself was something he could easily do in these kinds of situations - it was Su Yi who worried him the most.

With how his memories were and seeing as everything was so familiar, it was easy to forget that this scenario and everything else was created by the main system. Meaning that the Su Yi beside him had no relations with these people, and shouldn't be as affected by them as she would if they were her actual family. However, these people were the replica of her actual family, and that was what worried Jun the most.

It was only in these kinds of moments that Jun was a little relieved that Su Yi had no memories of her time in her actual world: even if it was wrong of him to think this way. Some things were just not worth remembering.

"Su Yi has just recovered and you want to take her away from here?" Father Yi slathered his burning hatred with honey and said words that any normal concerned parent would say. However, it was all a pretence and was to make himself look good in front of outsiders. "Don't forget this is her home and where she should stay until she is fully recovered."

Of course, such words would have no effect on Jun, who was well aware of how this person felt.

'Don't forget this is her home and where she should stay until she is fully recovered.' In other words, they should lock away Su Yi at home lest she shamed the family name by stepping outside and airing their dirty laundry.

They wanted to hide the fact that the eldest miss of the Yi family had been badly hurt and was still recovering. It didn't matter what the injuries were like, or how she was faring mentally... all that mattered was that those curtain-twitchers didn't get to enjoy a show.

"Su Yi can recover just as well in the place we're going to, without certain things tainting her mind." The word 'things' was tinged with a hint of mirth, and Jun looked down on Su Yi's parents with scornful eyes.

It didn't matter what methods or words they would use to persuade Su Yi to stay, Jun wouldn't allow it. How would she be able to get better whilst living with these people? It would make her worse; maybe not physically, but her mental health would surely take a hit.

Without a second thought, Jun grabbed hold of Su Yi's hand and with the other took the handle of the suitcase. Then he turned around and left the house. All the while, he ignored the reproachful gaze of the family being left behind and made for the car parked out front.

Today he was going to take Su Yi away from this disdainful place no matter what, and none of them could stop him.

Watching on was the system assigned to look after Su Yi. By his sides, his hands balled into fists and nails pierced into palms, leaving bloody trails as he looked on at the familiar scene. It was an event that he remembered all too well, and a sense of foreboding was taking over.

Hopefully, the events that had transpired all those years ago wouldn't repeat themselves in this world.

Sadly, hope was truly a fickle thing, and what we didn't want to take place would be bound to happen.

I really like this line:

"Sadly, hope was truly a fickle thing, and what we didn't want to take place would be bound to happen."
