She hung up her phone and looked at the two of them. "This family is terrible at talking." Harriet replied, "Alpha, Omega, or Beta be damned you're in tears because you don't want your wife to leave you? If you feel that strongly then chances are she feels the same." Harriet walked over and handed Thomas his phone.
"Treating Cheryl like she's a one-dimensional individual is such a ridiculous choice. You can change your mind, you're allowed to do that. Just because you've said one thing or another doesn't mean you can't make a different choice later." Harriet looked over at Cesar, "You, also, don't always have to agree with each other. But you're adults, talk it out." She pointed at Cesar.
Thomas nodded as soon as Cesar's eyes landed on him, that had been exactly what he was saying!
In a matter of moments, there was banging on the door. Thomas walked over opening it and Cheryl stumbled in. Her hair was a mess and she looked like she had been crying. "Cheryl!" Cesar exclaimed standing up, "Cheryl are you alright?" he asked concerned, honestly, Thomas was too, neither of them had seen his mother like this before.
Cesar walked over and placed his hands on Cheryl's shoulders, "You damn fool! Why did you leave signed divorce papers on our bedside table!" Cheryl sobbed, and Cesar flinched, "Father..." Thomas groaned as he shut the door. "I was in our room crying my eyes out when I get a call from her!" She pointed to Harriet, "Why did I have to hear from her what was going on!"
Cesar winced, Cheryl grabbed his face, "You stupid... You know I say things I don't mean!" Cheryl didn't give Cesar any room to talk. Cheryl stared at Cesar and the two of them hugged. "We can burn it when we get home..." Cesar mumbled into the hug. "I already did you, dumb man."
Thomas walked over to Harriet and they headed for the bedroom giving his parents some space as they talked. Thomas shut the door to the bedroom and his parent's voices became muffled. "We'll give them a few minutes to talk." He said to Harriet who sat on the edge of the bed. "Are you mad?" She asked still holding her phone, "No, of course not," Thomas looked away from the door and at Harriet.
"I knew my mother wouldn't want to divorce my father." Thomas walked over and sat beside Harriet. "I mean it was risky but... Frankly, it sort of pissed me off that my parents weren't talking to each other." Thomas looked back at the door. "It's... You know, what does it matter? Especially at that point?" he struggled to find the words. "It does for some people, but your father's reaction and how your mother is... I got the feeling that it wouldn't be like that for them." Harriet placed her hand on top of Thomas's.
"Just like it wouldn't matter to me." She said looking at Thomas, he looked back at her and sighed. "So that's what it is..." Thomas grumbled, "They're us." He sighed, "I think we're better looking." Harriet joked, "Not literally you goof." Thomas chuckled, "It just reminded me of how scared I was... I mean I considered just giving up too." Thomas confessed, Harriet stared at him quietly.
"I... Before I knew that I am what I am. I thought there was no chance... I hoped but..." Thomas struggled to find a polite way to say it, suddenly he sounded like his father to himself, he then looked to Harriet and chuckled at himself. "What am I doing?" he asked her, "What you were taught I guess." She replied, Thomas, leaned towards her and nudged her. "I wanted you." He spoke more frankly, "I thought you didn't want me because I was an alpha. So when I found out I'm an omega... I wanted to be perfect." He spoke honestly.
"I still want that in some ways." He added, "But there was a moment that I... I was going to walk away without knocking or saying a single thing." Thomas looked off in the distance. "if your neighbor Milo hadn't stopped me... I would have."
"So you getting that upset with your father..." Harriet pressed, "Is sort of me getting upset with myself." Thomas answered. "I almost missed out on... Us..." Thomas said softly, "Just because I was scared." He felt Harriet pull him into a hug. "It's only been a little while, but I wake up every day excited that you and I get to take on the world together." Thomas turned and embraced Harriet fully. "Even almost missing out on something this great, makes me very angry at how stupid I almost was."
Thomas let himself lean on Harriet, "I wouldn't worry too much about that," Harriet said into his ear. "I would've hunted you down eventually." She said teasingly, "You're such a liar." Thomas chuckled. "had you going for a minute there didn't I?" Harriet asked grinning, "Sure." Thomas replied. He was about to kiss Harriet when there was a knock on the bedroom door. Thomas got up and answered it.
Cesar stood there with Cheryl, "We... We should all talk." He said softly looking much happier now. "Of course," Thomas replied, he motioned for Harriet to follow and the two couples sat down. Cheryl fidgeted in her seat looking unwilling to say anything until Cesar cleared his throat.
She gave him a dirty look and then sighed, "I'm sorry." She said to Harriet, "I behaved terribly the other day and I wasn't being fair to you." Cheryl apologized, "Or... Anyone for that matter." She added actually looking ashamed. Thomas looked over at Harriet who cleaned off her glasses. "People do crazy things when they're scared." Harriet replied, "Just do better." She added slipping her glasses back on.
"Yeah. I will." Cheryl nodded, "I have to, I almost lost my husband..." Cheryl looked like she was on the verge of tears. "I recommend therapy." Harriet replied, "We'll look into it." Cheryl responded with a sigh. "I suppose I should go to those parades they have every June now." She remarked. Thomas rolled his eyes, his mother always looked for ways to throw herself completely into something. "Thomas, do you think they'll let old people like us in?" Cheryl asked.
"I don't see why not Mother." Thomas replied before looking over at his father, "How are you doing?" he asked, Cesar, perked up and smiled slightly. "Happier..." he replied simply, "But... This is still a lot." He confessed, "Don't worry dear I'll teach you everything you need to know." Cheryl said affectionately.
"There's no right or wrong way to be an omega or alpha. Just do what feels right Mr. West." Harriet remarked, Cesar, nodded clearly taking Harriet's advice to heart. "She's a good woman and alpha Thomas," Cesar said pleased, Thomas smiled from ear to ear. "I know." He replied. "You be good to Thomas! He's a very sensitive boy!" Cheryl lectured Harriet protectively, "Of course." Harriet replied.
"Cheryl." Cesar scolded, "Yes. Yes." Cheryl grumbled, and the older couple stood up. "It's getting late, we're going to get out of your hair now Thomas." Cesar said politely, "You two be safe." Thomas replied guiding his parents out of his apartment. Once the door was shut and locked Thomas turned around and looked at Harriet who was sitting on the couch with her legs tucked under her.
"So." Thomas said, "So?" Harriet replied innocently. Thomas grinned, "I believe we were interrupted in a middle of a game before all of this." He remarked coyly, Harriet's eyes lit up. "Race you to the bedroom?" Thomas asked, Harriet, chuckled, "You're not going to make it there." She replied.
Thomas took that as a challenge and rushed to the bedroom, he expected Harriet to rush in and maybe shut the door but he suddenly felt a weight on his back and he tumbled onto the floor. Though it was a bit purposefully, Thomas turned over and Harriet sat on top of him. "Thomas..." Harriet sang his name, "Aren't you supposed to be the aggressive one this time?" She teased.
Thomas smiled at her as she grabbed his wrists and pinned them above his head. "Just this once I think I'll let you do it." He replied coyly, Harriet laughed at this. "Well alright but just this once." She replied, the two of them kissed and Thomas sighed feeling relief. He wanted to kiss her all day, he opened his mouth letting her tongue slide in. He moaned when he felt her hot muscle enter.
Clothes were stripped off and thrown all over the floor, Thomas sat up with Harriet in his arms as they kissed. He was shirtless now trying his best to wiggle out of his dress pants. Harriet stripped off her shirt and Thomas kissed her freshly bare skin. "Thomas." He heard Harriet breathe his name, having enough Thomas stood up and carried Harriet into the bedroom.
He slipped his pants off as he walked and tossed Harriet on the bed, Harriet chuckled finding it amusing as she sat up. Thomas climbed onto the bed and pushed her down. "I thought you were going to let me be aggressive?" Harriet asked looking up at him. "I changed my mind." Thomas teased climbing on top of her, his breathing hitched as he stripped his underwear. Harriet removed the rest of her clothes as well.
"Harriet..." Thomas breathed staring at her, she was so beautiful, his heart thudded loudly in his chest. "Come here Thomas," Harriet called wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down. They were nose to nose and Harriet smiled at him. "You're a gorgeous omega." She whispered, "And a very handsome man." She continued. Thomas grinned stupidly adoring hearing her say that.
"A beautiful alpha and woman." He replied, Harriet smiled looking pleased, "We're a good-looking couple." She snorted, and Thomas chuckled. "I love you, Harriet." He spoke feeling those words with every fiber of his body. "I love you so much." He rubbed their noses together.
The touches between them were loving and gentle, unexpected from Harriet of all people. But this time they knew there was no rush. There was no need to take as much as they could or prove how much they wanted each other. With each passing day, with each passing moment, the comfort they found with each other only grew.
They fit together in more ways than one.
So very long Thomas had hoped to find a woman like that. Someone he was excited being with, someone that meshed with him so well it felt like they just knew each other's hearts. So many botched dates with young women who were starry-eyed seeing someone like Thomas. They thought Thomas was their alpha, but he wasn't even an alpha in the first place.
They made love for most of the night whispering sweet things to one another. After they separated and cleaned up, Harriet and Thomas were curled up with one another quietly whispering. Their minds much clearer now without lust fogging them, were on business once more. In particular what business they should start? Thomas and Harriet went back and forth on different industries as they fell asleep.
As months passed this continued, Thomas and Harriet whenever they got the chance spoke about what business they wanted. They hadn't decided on what industry yet but Harriet and Thomas created a general business plan. Technology was definitely something they wanted, but what kind? Specializing was the key after all.
For weeks they racked their brains until Thomas had come back from grocery shopping one day to find a familiar face with a bludging belly trying to carry bags full of supplies for babies. "Milo?" Thomas called, the omega paused and turned huffing. "Thomas?" Milo replied, Thomas, walked over and grabbed a few of the bags. "Let me get these for you." He said, "You don't have to-." Milo replied politely, "I'd feel bad if I didn't." Thomas responded.
Thomas ended up carrying most of Milo's bags on top of his own. "So how are things?" He asked, "I'm living with Avery now, so I suppose we're neighbors." Milo replied, "A... Avery and I started dating." He added happily, "And I'm pregnant if you haven't noticed." Milo said motioning to his stomach. "That's great, Harriet and I live together too. Looks like you're neighbors with her again." Thomas joked, and Milo, laughed, "Harriet's a good neighbor. So I don't mind." He spoke.
"Whenever I had a really bad heat, Harriet would leave care packages at my door," Milo said to Thomas, Thomas nodded in the months they'd been together Harriet had taken care of Thomas during his. "We never did anything!" Thomas heard Milo exclaim. Thomas looked over amused, a few months ago he would've been relieved. But now he felt more secure in the relationship.
"I'm not worried about that," Thomas replied, "Harriet tends to like bigger taller omegas." He joked, Milo paused before laughing, "You're right. You know she would talk about you a lot, that's how I knew your name." Milo spoke as they slowly walked to the elevators. "Really?" Thomas asked, now this he was interested in. "Yeah, everything was always about you or a story about you. Mr. West likes this or Mr. West said that." Milo spoke remembering those occasions.
Thomas was shocked for a moment, he had almost forgotten how Harriet used to call him. It seemed more natural now to hear her call him Thomas. "She even came over to have me look at slide shows she had made to see if maybe you would like the formatting." Milo chuckled, "I never met an alpha who tried to impress someone with a different font before." He remarked.
Thomas smiled, Harriet had quite the logical reputation with him. If only he knew what Thomas knew. But that was okay, Thomas liked knowing Harriet's playful side. "You know Avery would get drunk often and talk about you." Thomas spoke, "Always talking about how beautiful you are and amazing you are." Thomas spoke as he watched Milo's face turn bright red. "Really?!" He exclaimed, Thomas grinned, he understood a bit more why Harriet loved to tease now.
"I don't know why it's surprising, she did get you pregnant." Thomas replied a bit smugly, "I just..." Milo mumbled, "It makes me happy." He confessed with a love-sick smile on his face. "So how far along are you?" Thomas asked, "Just a couple of months." Milo replied, "I'm really excited." He said, Thomas, nodded. Just as they reached the elevators the doors opened.
"Milo!" Avery exclaimed rushing out, "I take a nap and you take off to go shopping? You should've woken me up!" Avery exclaimed rushing over, worried. "You looked peaceful and I didn't want to bother you," Milo replied sweetly. "Milo! You're pregnant you're supposed to do that! Throw a tantrum! Yell! Demand things!" Avery encouraged, Milo, winced clearly not liking the thought of doing that.
Avery then looked over at saw Thomas, "Oh hi Thomas!" She greeted, Thomas raised his eyebrows, "Just hi, after you cursed me out last time I saw you and said I should be single and miserable like you?" He teased, and Avery froze, "You remember that?" She asked sheepishly, "Avery..." Milo sighed, "It's not like that Milo I was drunk!" Avery exclaimed, "I figured that." Milo deadpanned, "I heard all about how you'd cry about me from Thomas."
Avery's eyes snapped in Thomas's direction, "Thomas!" She exclaimed flustered
