It’s been more than 5 hours since my last break. You would think all the training I did would pay off in increasing my stamina, but it seems when it comes to superno, everything is ten times more difficult for normal people like me. I’ve managed to pass the most dangerous areas: the field of weeping trees where all the fairies live and the black lake where those wretched mermaids live. Now, I’m nearing the castle where the whole of the royal family lives. According to my understanding, there are quite a few royal members. However, there are only a few important ones I need to be aware of. The king and queen of course, are the most important ones and therefore, the ones that hold the most power. Well, excluding the so-called “prophecy” child.
The king is presumed to be from a long line of fairies and rumoured to have angel blood but us as humans, know of only a limited amount on superno and the royal family, basing our theories off the vague information screamed out by victims of our institution right before being brutally dismembered by those foul animals.
The queen is the head of lands currently. She comes from a long line of previous rulers of the lands of magical beings. She was crowned by the guardian of the holy ash tree Yggdrasil which is supposedly the tree that created all of the lands and the magical creatures. The queen is the one people follow. The one that makes the rules around there. The king is well respected and loved, but the hierarchy is strict in superno, and the queen still holds the most respect and power.
As for the next in line, that’s Hårbyn Adonis-Reign. Each of his names are supposed to symbolise his best qualities, prophesied by strong practitioners of magic in touch with the great ash tree. Hårbyn means warrior as he’s supposedly meant to fight many great battles in his life as the ruler of superno, Adonis means beautiful as he’s supposed to be the most beautiful creature ever created and Reign meaning next in line or the future ruler of the lands.
As soon as he was born, the oldest, most powerful magical beings deemed him as the most supreme creature ever created and so, he was made next in line to the throne even though he was not the first born. Because of this so-called immense strength the boy possesses, the humans think he is our biggest threat and so we need to do whatever we can to eliminate him as soon as possible. So this is why I’m here. I don’t know if any of this is true, after all, barely any humans have managed to step foot in superno and most that did, managed to stay alive for a couple of hours before they inevitably, brutally died. All I know for sure is that he’s a spoiled child who has always received exactly what he’s wanted with a clap of his hands because of his status in superno and I hope I’m able to get rid of him soon and go home ; take a much needed holiday somewhere nice and warm.
I step into a puddle of blood rain and curse while chopping the thick trees with my knife, trying to escape this uncomfortable patch of foliage I’ve managed to get myself into. When I finally make it out, I see a large castle perched up before me on a large hill with what looks to be an endless amount of fireflies scattered on the mound and around the huge castle like a cloud of brightness engulfing it, creating the sense that this is an important place. I clutch onto my knife tightly and begin walking towards the hillside. Thanks to the fireflies, I’m able to see properly but it’s also putting me in a bad situation as the many guards surveying every corner can spot me easier.
Unfortunately, this is not my biggest problem. I’m able to camouflage effectively and make sure that no one can spot me. My biggest problem is: number one, where to effectively set up my equipment overlooking the prince with an easy exit. No one knows what the inside of the palace actually looks like, so I’m going to have to figure everything out myself and number two, I have the ability to fight and win against every other magical creature here except the royals. They have specific special abilities ten times stronger than any other regular supernatural being and since there’s so many of them, they’re going to be everywhere and therefore, it’s going to be difficult to hide from all of them. And finally number three, if I catch the queen, king or Hårbyn’s eye, then I am dead. It is a guaranteed death for me so I somehow have to kill the prince without catching his attention or his parents attention which might sound easy, but it’s quite the opposite because of their insane abilities.
After successfully passing more than a dozen guards, I manage to find myself at the back of the castle, where I can see the servants running in and out busily, probably with a lot to worry about since most of the supernatural creatures of all lands are currently in this palace. I crouch down slowly, and when I see the last servant running out of the palace through an oak door with what looks to be a straw basket, I run to the door, praying it doesn’t lead to a horde of people. Luckily for me, it led to an empty hall that took you to the kitchens or what sounded to be the main ballroom. Next to the kitchen door was a large set of spiral marble stairs. I quickly and agilely ran up, arriving at the second floor of the castle. It seemed there was no one here, and although it gave a completely different feeling from the bright, loud and vibrant downstairs, It seemed like this would be the perfect place to carry out my mission. Now, if only I could find a room overseeing the ballroom where I could set up my equipment, I could start the last stage of my mission… to pull the trigger and kill the prince.
