Not wanting to get caught up in whatever his mother was thinking, he quickly made a break for it. He rushed past her, ignoring her indignant shouts to beat her home. He was obviously going to regret it later, but he didn't care. He was going to leave it for his future self to worry about.

Reaching his home, he tossed his shoes off and rushed inside.

"Juan, is that you?" asked his dad as he looked up from the book he was reading.

"Hi dad," he answered quickly before heading for his room.

"Where's your mother?"

"She's still outside."

"You know she's going to be unhappy."

"I'll apologize to her later," he said before closing the door.
