"Wake up now!!! If you don't wake up now you will die. If you don't escape now you will die. You are too weak to escape, use my power and become strong. Wake up now!!! Escape! Wake up!"
…
Mona continued dragging the body of the unconscious Jesse as they finally got to the outskirts of the destroyed City. Frustrated and annoyed at the delay of her squad mate Seth, she decided to stop where they were and wait for him to show up. She fell back next to Jesse from exhaustion. While waiting for her partner, she couldn't get out of her head the Sentient who she found talking to Jesse. The name Victor caught her attention especially well. Another surprising thing was that she couldn't feel his aura beforehand, meaning that he was either super weak or was strong enough enough to hide his aura, which would mean he was probably stronger than Mona first thought. Tired of these thoughts she tried to think of something else. She thought back to the words that Jesse had said to her before he fell unconscious. Why would the Half care so much about the life of a useless Human. If he had actually escaped Windsor, why would he call one of those humans his mother? What if he was in fact not the Half that escaped Windsor, what if he was actually a Half Sentient born naturally to a Human woman? That would explain why he was so attached to the Human he called his mother. Mona quickly dismissed that theory given how insane it sounded given how rare it is for Halves to be born even in a laboratory setting, the chances of a Half being born naturally is pretty much unheard of. Mona just shrugged it off as she got tired of waiting. Annoyed at Seth for taking so long to arrive when General Nomrick had said he would arrive soon, Mona decided to try and communicate with Seth using her Astral Communication.
"Where are you, child?" Mona called out to the young golden haired Sentient.
"Is that you, Miss Mona?" wondered Seth while he was fighting with Elijah.
Mona scoffed in annoyance, "Yes it is me! Now where are you? I've been waiting for so long!"
"Well, I am engaging with the villain Miss Mona," defended Seth, "The Half criminal that we have to capture is fighting against me right now."
Confused, Mona stated, "But I have the Half with me right now though! How can you be fighting someone I've already beat?"
"Well I am not sure what you mean Miss Mona, but I am fighting someone right now," explained Seth, "Maybe you have the wrong target?"
"How can it be possible that I have the wrong target? I will never forget the face of someone who almost killed me like he did," Mona defended, "You must be the one who is wrong."
"Maybe you are right Miss Mona," surrendered Seth, "I will see if... maybe I am wrong."
As the fight between Seth and Elijah grows larger. Seth, without knowing whether Elijah is a Sentient or a Half, slowed down his attacks. The young child continued dodging the shifting of the environment caused by the now almost completely silent Elijah.
"Let's stop fighting please, sir!" suggested Seth as his attacks slowed down significantly, "I have reason to believe that you are not who we are looking for, so please stop your attacks or I will have to really hurt you."
Elijah ignored Seth completely and he continued attacking, moving bricks and planks into Seth while also jumping in to attack, himself. Seth remained in defense against his attacks. Seth wanted to end this quickly, but if it turned out that his opponent was actually not the person they were supposed to capture, he feared that he might get in trouble. Seth is a 12 year old boy that joined the military when he was only 10. Because he was so much stronger than his peers, he was recruited by the military at a much younger age than most other people. Because of his age and his family, he was under much more criticism than the regular soldier. With this in mind, Seth didn't want to attack someone who could be a Sentient or a civilian at that for no important reason. He had hoped that he could fight with the two Sentients who he rescued, but they both blacked out a while ago.
"Please calm down sir!" exclaimed Seth to Elijah, "I really have to be leaving now, but I don't want you to continue like this."
Elijah ignored him and Seth continued, "The matter of fact is that you almost killed two Sentients! Such criminal behavior cannot go unpunished!"
Elijah scoffed and replied, "Since when did the military protect rebels like them?"
Seth froze in confusion. He looked back at the two Sentients he saved. If those two Sentients were really rebels, then what reason would another random Sentient have in fighting them? Seth wondered why, but eventually came to the conclusion that he might be part of the military. That would explain why he was so close to one of the restricted cities destroyed in the bloodiest decade. This city may have been destroyed, it was made illegal for anyone except the military to enter these cities. The destroyed city where everyone was at was one of those cities. That city was named Hakai-Conai. Thinking that Elijah was part of the military, he was annoyed that Elijah would do something like almost killing two people. To stop him, Seth decided to go for an attack. He ran up close as his fist glowed a bright gold, avoiding flying rubble he easily made his way towards Elijah and hit him with an open palm in the stomach. A bright golden glow radiated from his attack and could be seen from quite the distance before blasting Elijah back into the buildings.
Seth stood up and said, "Just because you have defeated villainous rebels, doesn't give you the right to murder. Normally as the hero of the military I would let you face proper consequences, but I am unfortunately needed elsewhere. Consider yourself lucky that I have to go villain. And also… just because you are strong doesn't mean you should bully the weak. Goodbye."
Mona grunted when she saw the golden light coming from the other side of the city Hakai-Conai, "What is that idiot child doing?"
Eventually Seth arrived to the other side of the city, to where Mona and Jesse were. He noticed that Jesse didn't seem that injured even though he is unconscious.
"You finally arrived!" exclaimed Mona, "What was it that took you so long to get here?"
"Well there was a Sentient who I thought was the Half that we were looking for. I saw him attacking two guys who I later discovered were Rebels," explained Seth, "But he almost killed them so I had to step in and…"
Mona interrupted Seth's explanation and said, "Who cares if they died? Their rebels."
Surprised by her statement, Seth responded, "But we cannot kill people just like that. Isn't the point of the military to protect the people?"
Mona retaliated, "We only protect those who support the Supreme General. They gave up that right the moment they joined the rebellion."
Seth stayed strong on his morals and said, "But even so… isn't murder too harsh?"
Mona just ignored Seth and instructed him to grab Jesse so that they can leave the Hakai-Conai and get to somewhere more familiar to them.
Elijah steps out of the rubble from Seth's attack, bleeding out of his abdomen. He clenched his body from the shock as he climbed over the destruction. He slowly stumbled over to the area where he fought against Sealy, Nose Ring and also Seth. It angered him that he lost. He used more of 'his' power, but still lost. That moment he wanted nothing, but to kill the young golden haired boy who embarrassed him in that fight. He wanted to make Seth regret everything he had said.
These unnaturally dark thoughts were cut off by a deeper and matured voice, "You'll die if that doesn't heal up you know." Elijah jolted to see who spoke to him and saw Victor leaning against a partially broken wall, "I have never seen a Sentient not automatically heal themselves."
Elijah tried to ignore him and turned away to conceal the fact that he had no Sentient Crystal, he knew he was weakened too much to fight again against a Sentient.
"Maybe you used too much of your energy?" suggested Victor as he stood up and slowly walked towards Elijah who was looking away from away. Victor continued, "Maybe you aren't a Sentient? Maybe you are a Human that has the magical powers we have. Maybe you're like that other Human… or should I say Half that I saw earlier today. I think his name was… Jess?"
Elijah was shocked to hear Jesse's name, or what sounded like it was his name, and looked at Victor for more information.
Victor saw the lack of Sentient Crystal on Elijah's forehead and said, "So you are like him. I take it by your response that you know each other?"
Elijah nodded his head, "Yeah I do. How do you know him?"
"We had a really lengthy conversation actually," Victor explained, "Before that other Sentient attacked him I guess."
"Jesse was attacked?" Elijah asked for confirmation, "Who was it?"
"It was a blue headed Sentient girl," Victor explained, "But he did technically attack first. It seemed like they had some history of sorts."
Elijah sighed and looked down. He kept quiet and let Victor speak, "Based on her military badge, I think she was part of the 9th Squadron. So if they are going anywhere it is probably back to their home base in Morino."
Elijah remained silent so Victor continued, "The Commanding Officer there, Manuel Nomrick, is the 9th general. He is called the Sound General by his peers…"
Elijah cut Victor off and asked, "Why are you telling me all this?"
Victor scratched the back of his head and responded, "Well I guess so that you can go rescue your friend... Jess. I kinda want to help you with that too."
"Why would I do that?" retorted Elijah, "It's not like I even knew him that long. I've only been with him for like a week and he has been such a pain to me. I almost died when fighting this old Sentient dude because of him. I also almost died just now because of him. It's probably better if he just dies! I let him come with me so that he can find that girl to get revenge. Since he found her, why do I have to go and rescue him again?"
Elijah's unusual hostility to Jesse was, shortly after, responded by Victor, "Well then sorry for assuming you guys were friends. Since you both were the same and you knew each other I just assumed…"
"Well you assumed wrong," Elijah scorned, "And we are nothing alike."
Victor chuckled and asked, "So will you just let him die then?"
As Elijah walked away, he replied, "I frankly don't care either way."
Victor sighed as he walked away from Elijah and said to himself, "Looks like not all you Halves are as Interesting as little Jess."
Elijah left the fighting area and continued his trek North West to the city in which he was born. He continued the journey he started with Jesse, alone.
