Blake and Alex had no other choice so they just agreed. There was silence for a while between them, neither of them wanted to speak to the other. Alex was looking around when he suddenly felt a small itch on his chest. He scratched a bit but suddenly felt something odd. He looked inside his shirt and found a small black spot which he had never seen before.
‘What is that? Some insect, bite?’ Alex didn’t pay much mind to it as his focus shifted to the place. As time passed Alex thought that the silence itself will kill him so he decided to break it.
“So, while we wait, where exactly are we and who are those people chasing us?”
After a little pause Blake sighed and said “I guess since you are already here, I’ll tell you then. By now you must have realized that there are many other races aside from humans. But what most of these races have that the humans don’t is control over mana or what you would call as the fuel for magic. At the very least if you compare the humans from earth, all the humans in this world can use mana freely. There are many different names by which it goes but most commonly used is mana in the human language.”
Alex, “I see…”
“Attributing to its sky, the world is known as Emerald. Unlike Earth which has seven continents, here we have four. We are on the Western continent. Four Kingdoms exist on this one. We are in the city of Locis which is in the kingdom named ‘Green Deralus’.”
“Huh, it looks like a mixture of two names or something.” Alex said amused. “That’s because it really is, it is named after the two most powerful individuals back in the time.”
“And as for the people chasing us, they are the royal forces of the kingdom. Those particular lot, patrol guards most likely. They recognized me rather quickly.” Blake said in a low tone.
“Woah who knew uptight, dumb Blake would be so popular.” At that Blake gave Alex a deadly look, only to be ignored by Alex.
Suddenly Blake became serious startling Alex a bit.
Blake, “Once we get a vehicle from Bevis, we’ll be going to get something which can break these cuffs.”
“Hmm? But what if we both were to attack it simultaneously?” Alex asked looking at the thick wire of the cuffs.”
“If that was possible, I would have already suggested it. We’ll need strong spells, at least at the level of tier 3 and I am not even sure if a single one can break it. We might need two possibly three. That’s why I have a tool which can open this up easily.”
“Sound like a plan.” Alex nodded understanding Blake’s reason. He had earlier asked Miracle about the cuffs and if he could break it. Apparently even after borrowing extra power from Miracle just like the time of his fight with the summoner, he still wouldn’t be capable enough to break them.
“But once that happens you need to hand the stone over to me.” Blake demanded.
“Hmm and why would I do that? Wouldn’t you just look to kill me after that?” Alex asked narrowing his eyes.
“In exchange I will send you back to earth, to your school.”
“Huh? Don’t kid around, I know that travel between earth and this world is strictly restricted.”
“That’s is true but then how do you think me and Azmiel were able to come to earth?”
At this Alex had to admit that it wasn’t a bad deal. He didn’t know anyone in this new world. Not to mention he wasn’t even sure if Merissa had any knowledge of what was happened to him right now. Regardless this still icked him because if he goes through with it, the blame of the stone falling into the hands of some wrong people would fall on him. He could be later on targeted by back on earth.
As if understanding what was on his mind Blake immediately spoke up. “You don’t have to worry about the consequences of what happens afterwards. I am not with the Black Cloud anyway.”
“Black Cloud? Isn’t that the name of the organization which that Council agent had mentioned to which you and Azmiel belonged?”
“Yes, but I am not a part of it or you could say that I was a member in name only. I only wanted to use them for my goals.” Blake said looking at Alex’s coat or more specifically the place where the stone was kept inside it.
‘Heh… sounds like a very convenient story cooked up on the spot. What do you think?’ Alex asked Miracle.
‘Normally that would be the case… but you do remember that he tried to save your friend, didn’t you? If only that was the case, I would have brushed him off as a softie but he ended up fighting with that leather pants insect also. There might be some truth to it, in any case, you should wait and see the item he will you use to send you back home, I’ll most probably be able to tell at a single glance if he’s lying or saying the truth.’
‘I see… fine.’
“Okay, I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but I’ll need to see the thing with which you can send me home, only after that will I agree with the deal.”
Blake remained silent for a second before nodding. “Fairly reasonable.”
“Oi isn’t that Bevis guy taking too much time, he was going to give us some juice, right?” Alex asked suddenly realizing it.
Even Blake felt that it was strange. ‘Bevis should have been done by now, what—
Blake’s thought was suddenly disturbed by an unwelcomed voice.
“Wow, you guys really are here.”
The voice came from a man who wearing a yellow armor, a sword hanging to his belt and a blue cape. He stood somewhere around 6 feet and had very blue pale skin. Aside from this he almost looked human.
“Shit! That bastard Bevis fooled us.” Blake cursed under his breath as he recognized the single star shaped crest of the royal guard and a green colored captain’s band on the person’s arm who suddenly appeared.
