A hooded figure moved silently through the night and entered the castle grounds through a hole in the wall. It was far away from the gates, and his going into the castle grounds would go unnoticed by the guards on duty.
He crept through the grounds and made his way to the entrance that was closest to him. To his knowledge, it would lead him to the west side of the castle, and there he could get to where the queen stayed. It was a sure bet, and it was also one he couldn’t afford to lose.
Coming back to the castle - the place he had thought was his home - had taken all of his courage. He didn’t want to turn back around and go back to where he had been staying for all these years.
Those demons - the ones who he had been staying with - weren’t his family. The ones living in the castle were, but they didn’t see it that way. To them, family meant nothing. And each royal family member was a threat, and the rivalry was insane.
Prince Keir was not like the other demons and was more humanlike. Perhaps it was to do with the fact that his mother was human, or because he had spent too much time on Earth. Either way, he was the most hated royal, and that was one reason he was chased out of the castle.
Now he was back, and he wanted to take his rightful place on the throne. It would cause upset, and a fight might break out, but he had been long prepared for that.
Since Xander was incompetent and unfit to be the king, Keir would be the next in line. Not Asteria. As far as he was concerned, she was just a substitute, and one he could shove aside when he returned.
Soon, he arrived at her room, and he opened the door before slipping inside. It was laughable how lax the security was around the castle, and he delighted in the fact that the ‘demon queen’ was unprotected.
He looked down at her sleeping form, and as a grin slowly formed on his face, he said, “I’m back, sister.”
