Blake rode at full speed. Some 10-15 minutes had passed and just when they had thought that they were out of danger, a beeping sound began to rang out of the prexa. Blake checked the small screen in front of the steering and found that the mana core, a device used to fuel these vehicles was running out of mana.
“Oi, there some smoke coming out from down there.” Alex said while slightly leaning out of the vehicle noticing the smoke.
“Damnit! He must have managed to damage it at the last second.” Blake cursed realizing that Gale had got them. Not a second later mana beams rained down on them from above.
‘Tsk! Now of all times?!’ Blake thought has he noticed the Gale’s soldiers who had disappeared for sometime coming out of nowhere.
He was hardly able to doge any of the attacks because of the low fuel and decrease in speed. While they were saved from the attacks their Prexa had taken a hit. The engine took heavy damage it making it difficult for Blake to control it causing them to crash into a tree.
As the two got off the now broken Prexa, they were greeted with the sight of the royal soldiers.
“You did well little one.” Blake said as he patted the Prexa.
Alex shook his head at his current situation. He was surrounded by several dozens of royal soldiers all of whom can use magic far better than him. Not to mention the strange partner in crime who talks to inanimate objects.
“Oi you got any ideas? because I don’t.” Alex said as he looked around him.
“Criminal Blake from the Black Cloud and his accomplice…” as one of the soldiers told them to surrender Alex sought cooperation from Blake. Whether he like it or not if they wanted to get out of here, they had to work together.
“Do you surrender?” The soldier completed his little speech.
Blake closed his eyes before walking forward two steps. He inhaled deeply before shouting “I AM GOING TO KILL YOU CHUMPS!”
Alex’s jaw dropped as not even a second later mana beams from prexa’s and the soldiers spear ran down upon them. But Blake acted quickly and used a tier 1 spell erecting a dome like shield around them protecting them 360degrees.
“Bhahaha… you see this human! They can’t touch even a single hair on us!” That was what Blake’s reaction was before it soon changed to “Or maybe they can…”
Several hairline fractures began to develop on the barrier. This continued as the cracks became more and more visible!
“Fire!”
“Don’t let up!”
“Blast em away!”
After seeing that the barrier was cracking, the soldiers didn’t let their onslaught stop for even a second. “Oi Blake, this will hold right?” Alex asked to a stunned Blake.
“No, this won’t hold out, we need to engage in battle, I am going to release a shock wave, it’ll buy use time to attack them!”
Alex, “WHAT!”
Blake, “YES!”
Alex could barely see outside the barrier as it was being continuously being shot with spells completely obstructing their view. Only white flashes passed in his mind until they didn’t anymore.
Everything had completely gone black. But soon the light began to shone as Alex found himself in a sky filled with stars. ‘This is…’
‘My dimension.’ The dragon’s voice resounded in Alex’s mind as he faced the huge beast’s face.
Before Alex could utter anything, Miracle started speaking ‘Listen kid I don’t have time to hear your blabbering, listen closely I am going to teach you a tier one spell. This should be enough to get you out of your current predicament. Hopefully.’
‘Hopefully? No hopefully! I am surrounded by enemies; I need something strong…’ Alex was trying to reason with him when suddenly he felt his consciousness drifting away.
‘You are now more adept at using the mana from the sword. Don’t be fixated on one form try to branch out. As for something strong, didn’t you find something interesting in that library? That’s all the advice from my…’
“…man …hu… human!”
Alex, “Huh?!”
Alex snapped out of his trance as Blake shook him violently. To Blake it seemed like Alex had totally spaced out and was in a trance like state.
“What happened human?” Blake asked. Alex ignored him for the moment as he felt something different. There was something going on in his mind, a spell!
As Alex chanted some strange incantations in his mind the barrier had already broken and Blake had released a shock wave to caught the soldiers off guard. But Alex had entered Miracle’s dimension so he wasn’t able to move with him. Now they soldiers had recovered.
“Shit!” Blake clenched his fists as he took a fighting posture. The soldier’s weapons glowed in different colors of mana ready to fire at them.
“Human use your sword to create distractions, I’ll—
Blake stopped midway as he suddenly felt a surge in magic power. He slowly looked above only to find a glowing black circle with various inscription floating horizontally above Alex.
“Tier One: Boost! times 2” Alex said almost in a whisper.
The next moment it suddenly dropped down as Alex’s body passed through it before the circle vanished.
The next moment his body glowed in a black hue before the light disappeared. ‘Branch out huh…’ Alex internalized as he put his sword forward.
Just as he did the soldiers released their attacks. Blake covered himself with his hands but the attack never came. He slowly opened his eyes only to find that a new barrier came in place of the old one. As the soldiers saw a new black, mana barrier appeared they immediately halted their attacks.
“Blake, follow my lead.” Those were the last words that escaped Alex’s mouth before the barrier vanished.
