‘ You want to talk? Then talk.’
a vague shocked expression gets plastered on my face. I still can’t believe she can talk to me like that. And I’m even more surprised I’m not furious about it. One of my worst qualities is my bad patience. If someone else said that to me, I would make sure not another word comes out of their mouth ever again. I lean back in my chair and look at her with a malicious expression. I have to get some information out of her. No matter what happens, I can’t leave this room unless she answers my questions. With force or with fire. I don’t want to hurt her, but I’ll push her just enough until she breaks and I'll still make sure she remains alive and by my side.
‘Did you know, there hasn’t been a human in my kingdom for more than 80 years?’ I see her freeze for a split second. It’s her turn to look shocked and hushed. I suppose she didn’t expect my mood to change that quickly.
‘Yes I do.’ she replied so I continued.
‘And I suppose you also know about the treaty my kingdom and yours have signed for nearly 123 years now?’ She swallows dryly. She thinks she's hiding her emotions well, but I can read her like an open book. She's nervous.
‘Yes. Everyone knows that.’
I smile at her. ‘Good. Then you know that your kind is not supposed to set one of your little fragile feet across the border onto this kingdom…’ I stop smiling altogether. She looks at my lips, then at my eyes and I nearly lose my composure.
‘So what the fuck are you doing here Nadelyne Maelie Lourdes.’
I thought I broke her. She didn’t respond for what felt like forever. But then, she frowned at me and finally used her angelic voice.
‘How do you know my name?’
That’s all she said. Plain. Emotionless. Like a soldier stating a fact rather than a pretty girl asking a question.
‘ I know many things about anyone and everyone, kitten.’
She continues to look into my eyes, never taking her hazel saucers off me. She’s probably deciding what she should do in this situation. It seemed like she decided after a while, because she leans in closer so our faces are inches away.
‘ I know what you want from me, Hårbyn Adonis-Reign. But I swore an oath. And I don’t go back on my promises. I don’t care how much you torture me. I don't care how much pain you cause me. I will keep my mouth shut and I will do it well. And if I even see the slightest break in my defences, I swear on anything, I will make sure I end my own life before I open my mouth to scum like you. And don't ever call me one of your nasty little pet names ever again.’
Oh. So she wants to play that game. My patience began to thin , my anger was rising, and my abilities were waking up.
‘Open your mouth.’ I told her. Making sure she understood it was a command and not a plea.
‘What?’ She replied with a frown on her face.
I leaned in closer.
‘I said open your mouth, or I’ll do it for you.’ I repeated in a low tone. And she obeyed, opening her mouth, slowly. I gently grabbed her by her neck and her eyes widened.
‘If you close your mouth. You die. Choose wisely.’
She continues to keep her mouth open after some contemplation. I raise her chin to see better ; I dig out the cyanide pill wedged in the corner of her mouth. I look at her and raise the pill up to her hazel eyes.
‘This was your big plan to kill yourself?’ I laughed. She's certainly got courage. I'll give her that.
‘Even if you do have the guts to pop open this pill and attempt to end your life, it won't work. No mundane way of dying works in this kingdom. Only magic.’
She looked at me, stunned, I continued.
‘That means: no poisons, no hangings, no human diseases and no old age. So unless you manage to annoy me so badly I end up killing you, there’s no way for you to take the easy way out.’ I look her up and down and wonder how this little human got past all my guards and border troops. I see her clench her fists angrily. That was probably her last resort.
‘Don’t underestimate me, Hårbyn.’
It honestly surprises me how she always has something to say. And most of the time, it’s something insulting.
‘ My little human, since you won’t tell me everything I want to know, how about we go on a little adventure and I’ll figure it out, day by day.’
She rolled her eyes as if she thinks whatever is coming out of my mouth is a lie.
‘What the hell are you talking about?’ I smile at her yet again.
‘I’m talking about the little quest I have to do to finally be accepted as the next in line to…what do you call it? Ah yes… Superno.’
‘What does this have to do with me!’ She stood up and Looked down at me sitting on my chair. I stand up calmly to even the playing field.
‘It has everything to do with you. Since you decided to come into my kingdom with the intention to kill me, I can’t exactly let you walk away freely can I ? Especially not when you know so much about my land.’
She bit her lip in frustration and I swear I felt a shock hit me right in my dick. l look at her rose tinted lips and close my eyes. I reach for the bridge of my nose and rub it. She’s going to drive me insane. The headache forming at the back of my head gets stronger when she starts shouting.
‘ You do know that I can’t survive in this horrible kingdom for more than a couple of days, a week at best!’
I try to ignore her. I really do. I’m also trying not to do something that may endanger her. I look at my watch. Shit . I have to go. In less than ten minutes my power will become stronger than at any point in the day and I need to make sure I go somewhere safe. Away from anyone that can possibly become collateral damage.
‘Listen to me Nadelyne. I will only say this once. You’re coming with me on this fucking mission because I said so. I will make sure nothing happens to you because trust me, if you die on my land it’s by my hand and no one else’s. Get some sleep and I’ll come back to this room as soon as the first ray of sun hits the ground tomorrow morning.’
And with that, I make my way out of her spacious room and into the safety of my secret headquarters to fight the monster that's inside me.
