Dave's body was lying cold, motionless on the road concrete. A grotesque hooded man was standing, gun aimed down on him. A flick of second, he pointed his gun at me then shot without a second to process what happened. Afterwards, the pain began to disperse from that gunshot wound throughout my body. I fell unconscious
It wasn't long until I woke up and noticed I was laying down beside the wall with a human figure kneeling in front of me. My vision wasn't clear and I wasn't able to discern the face features until a few second gaze, I realised he was Dave.
"Hold on.. didn't you die..?" I questioned awkwardly. This confounded my mind, what I witnessed earlier. He gave a smile and said, "buddy, did you just have a nightmare?"
I was bewildered for a while. I looked down where the gun shot me and I noticed it wasn't there. It could be a nightmare, no gunshot wound and Dave being alive in front of my eyes. But then it felt too real to be a dream. That excruciating pain spreading throughout my body felt too real to be false. Everything that happened in one frame of my eyes was frightening. It was difficult to process all this being a nightmare however I decided to trust the words of this being a nightmare because everything seems all normal.
"I was l-looking around and I couldn't find a single clue. I saw you were asleep and w-woke you up because it could be dangerous to doze off here", Dave told me.
"I think I did have a nightmare just now. Some hooded figure shot you dead on the road.. Blood spilling from your body then he shot me next and I felt the pain," I described. "The pain felt so real. It jus-"
"Ah yeah, it's just a d-dream. Why w-would I be shot?" he cutted me off. "We should s-search somewhere else. No h-hint can be found in this area."
"Alright I guess."
We headed off to another area of this world. We walked along the pavement till we reach a town where we may find our time worthwhile to thoroughly search through for any ideas in this madness of isolation. In this town, there was an abaondoned looking garden across the street. The flowers can be seen withered, rusted decorations and nature taking over. The sun rose high and the heat hitting against my skin was pleasuring. It gave me hope to move on.
"I-i will search in t-this store to see if I can find anything. Y-ou can go look in that o-one," he pointed towards the store next to the one he's about to search. He moved to the door but before anything, I quickly gripped him on the shoulders.
"Hey, we should stick together, I have a bad feeling about this." I've noticed that being isolated for a while can manipulate my mind. Having a nightmare could possibly be the first sign of manipulation of the mind. Next could be hallucination. Next could be depression next which is very well undesirable.
"W-why may I ask?"
"It's because.... I'm having some sensation that isolation is bad. I'm anticipating that something bad will happen.. you know.. it's like messing with my mind, I'm not sure about yours though."
"N-nothing is h-happening for me but we can d-do what's good for you. F-follow me into this building to s-search for clues."
We walked into the building and the whole atmosphere changed around me. It was much colder inside and my body hair stood up. I felt more terrified being in here however to overcome my fear and hesitation, I gulped them away in my mind and proceeded foward with Dave. I pretended to be confident in doing this while Dave who overall felt brave as if it was normal to walk into this nerve-racking atmosphere.
"Dave? How are you feeling being in here?" I asked
"How I'm f-feeling? I feel n-normal right now. Just f-focus in searching. Are you s-scared?"
"No, it apprehensive in here."
"I'm fine. Just keep going."
It was dusty and the smell wasn't pleasant inside. It smelled like old furnitures and damp and I wanted to go out but I need to assist Dave in our search. I saw a crack with a speck of light above the dusty table.
"Hey Dave, I'm going to check this out."
I walked over to it and took a peek through the speck of light. I saw nothing but brightness and I found it unusual because there was no light to be seen anywhere, my theory about this light was that there was a room brightened up. But I also don't support it because before we went into this building, I took a peak at other buildings next to it and it was complete darkness inside. But of course, the room could be completely sealed by the walls but I wasn't sure. Whatever it is, I'm going to search for other clues so that I can use time effectively.
"H-hey look what I found!" yelled Dave. "A watch, look."
I walked over to him and he shoved the watch into my the second I approached him.
"S-Sorry, I just got excited but take a look at it!"
I grabbed it and gazed at it, irritated by him because the dust are on my face. "Interesting. Hey, the hand doesn't seem to be moving. Is it perhaps broken?" I looked around the room and saw a big clock. I stared at it and it read "8:35". It wasn't functioning as well. "There's also a clock there." I looked back at the watch and it read "8:35am". After that, a door in the corner of the room creaked open
