BYRON
I didn’t want to leave Julien, I wanted to spend some more time with him and get to know him better. But, I couldn’t risk his mother finding me. We don’t know how his parents will react to us, they seem to hate werewolves.
Walking in the woods, the image of jealous Julien came to my mind. I smiled, I think he knows we are fated mates. He fits so well in my arms and Damn! That perfect round ass of his, made me go insane. When he was sitting on my lap, I was turned on and I knew he noticed it, his scent gave it away. If it weren’t for his mother, who knows what we would have done?
“Byron!” I heard someone calling me, I recognized that voice. It was Mason, my best friend, and future beta.
I looked his way, noticing he was carrying a blonde-haired omega. His legs were bleeding; Mason looked worried.
“I found him passed out while I was on the run, his legs are badly hurt.” I felt he was anxious and also angry.
“Take him to the infirmary, I’ll check the perimeter to see what I can find.” He nodded at me and ran in the direction of the infirmary.
Checking the perimeter, an annoying light hit my eyes. Looking towards it, I found a shiny pink scale, a mermaid’s scale. I’ve read about how valuable and coveted mermaid scales can be. On my way to the infirmary, I analyzed the situation. That boy Mason found was probably a merman, he might have been caught by some hunters but managed to escape from them.
When I got to the infirmary, my father, and his beta Layton, were there. Mason was sitting next to the unconscious boy, looking at his papa Jamie, also the pack's doctor. He was finishing bandaging the omega’s injured legs.
“Did you find anything, son?” My dad asked, looking at me.
“I found this, a mermaid’s scale.” Handing him the scale so they could look at it.
“So this boy is a merman?” Layton asked, turning to see the boy.
“Looking at his wounds, he was probably attacked while his tail was out, honey.” Jamie answered his mate's question.
“There must be hunters lurking in the woods, tell the betas to be on the lookout.” My dad said to Layton.
The beta nodded, kissing his mate on the cheek, and then left. My dad turned to look at me.
“Byron, I need you to go with Mason to the merfolk manor tomorrow and inform them about this.” I nodded and looked at my friend, who was still looking at the unconscious omega.

JULIEN
“You have to stop treating our guests like that Julien, they are going to think we didn’t raise you well.” Said my angry mom while reading her newspaper.
“Honey, don’t be harsh with Julien.” My Papa sat next to her, kissing mom on the cheek. “You know fated mates are hard to find.”
“But we found each other, baby.” Mom kissed him back. “It shouldn’t be this hard to find Julien’s mate. We need to break the curse.”
“But what if my fated mate is not a merman?” I questioned. Mom was looking at me displeased with what I said. Her scent turned bitter. Papa just sighed and tried to calm her down, releasing some of his omega pheromones.
All my “suitors” for mating were always from our kind. I’ve noticed how mom has always hated everyone who’s not merfolk. The possibility of me having a mate that’s not our kind disgusts her. Probably that thought has never even crossed her mind. ‘If only she knew…’
A knock on the door made my parents stop being all lovey-dovey with each other. A beta entered the room, and then he bowed at us.
“Your Majesty, some wolves from the local pack are here to talk with you.” Hearing the word ‘wolves’, my mom made a disgusted face.
“Tell them to leave.” She said with a serious face, looking back at her newspaper.
“They said it’s urgent,” Said the beta a little nervous.
“Honey, let them come in. Let’s listen to what they have to say.” Papa said cuddling against mom’s arm, trying to convince her.
“Fine, tell them to come in.” She sighed and left her newspaper at the side. With one of her arms, she hugged Papa’s waist.
The guard left and a moment later, he came in again accompanied by a man I didn’t know and Byron. I got a little excited looking at him, but I had to keep my posture. He smiled at me and then turned to look at my parents, greeting them with a bow.
“What do you want wolves? Make it quick.” Mom said, with a serious look on her face.
“Greetings Your Majesties.” Byron greeted them with a bow. ”We came here to warn you.”
“Warn us? About what?” Asked my confused Papa looking at Byron.
“There seem to be merfolk hunters around the area. We found a wounded merman in the woods.” Papa gasped and mom hugged him tighter.
“Are you sure about that? Where is he?” Mom said. She didn’t believe them. I sighed.
“He is in the pack’s infirmary, we are waiting for him to wake up and confirm the facts.” The other alpha said, sounding worried while talking about the merman.
“We’ll believe you, for now,” Mom said. “I want to see this merman once he wakes up.”
“Sure do, ma’am. We’ll bring him here as soon as we can.” Byron smiled at her and then he looked at me. Mom noticed how he was looking at me.
“Julien, go to your room.” She was pissed.
“But mom, I want to hear more about the hunter and the merman. What if we know him?” I told her.
“Just go to your room, sweetie,” Papa told me with a slight smile.
“But Papa…” I sighed. “Fine, I’ll go.” Standing up, I stared at Byron for one last time. He was also looking at me with a cocky smile. His lips moved to tell me something:
I’ll see you tomorrow.
Smiling, I left. When I got to my room, I jumped onto my bed and then hugged my pillow. Moving my legs with excitement, I remembered the moment Byron and I had in the greenhouse.
I can't wait to see him again.
