The silhouettes of soldiers seemed to grow larger as Alex felt that he was being hugged by death. Was he going to be killed here? Was this it for him? These thoughts riddled his mind as he internally wished for someone to save him.
‘Alex! Oi! Kid! Listen to me! Crap, it’s no good, he’s out of sorts and his mind seems in a scramble from the shock of those attacks before. If it comes to this, I might have to forcefully shake him up.’ Since Alex was unable to hear Miracle’s voice due to the panic, he can’t cooperate with him to borrow extra power.
Alex’s silent cries continued until they didn’t. He lost all hope of surviving as he lost his will to fight. Hanging from a single thread before falling into the pits of despair, the stone in his jacket began to glow. Miracle who was about to forcefully give Alex a shock to pull him back to reality also felt it. A slight warm feeling rushed into Alex which almost made him feel safe.
A noise entered Alex’s mind. He couldn’t exactly make it out but it was a humming sound. It went “Hmm, hmhm, hmm…”
Nozark noticed that the two were still alive but weren’t moving. ‘I suppose taking them alive would be better.’
“Alright boys tie them up! Don’t touch the thing inside his jacket until I confirm myself what it is.” Nozark commanded.
‘I wonder what it is to continuously give off such strong mana around it. Could it be—
Nozark’s thoughts interrupted when he heard noises coming from his men.
“Oi what are you guys doing- this… how can he still stand up?” Nozark was of course, referring to Alex who still had his sword drawn as black mana surrounded it. Nozark wanted to issue commands but he suddenly felt a pressure descend upon him. It wasn’t just him but everyone around Alex could feel it.
‘This kid… is this aura?!’ Nozark thought as he felt something different about Alex.
‘This kid… he’s using aura but to think it’ll be this powerful!’ Previously when he watched Alex fight, he knew that he was an amateur. Everything from his body language to the look in his eyes screamed that he was substandard. But now he wasn’t so sure.
Suddenly Alex released 5 mana slashes all around him which was his current limit. He could only release 5 at a time before again gathering mana in his sword.
“Huh… all that presence and it’s the same shit again. Block the attacks and capture—
“Tier One: Cloning!” Just as these words left as a whisper from his mouth Nozark soon felt eating his words when a strange phenomenon occurred. The mana slashes began to multiply. Five became ten, ten became twenty, followed by 40, then 80. Soon more than a hundred mana slashes rained down on everyone.
*Boom* *Boom* *Boom*…
“Aaahh!”
“Help!”
“It’s too much!!”
Screams filled the forest as everyone got caught up in them. Nozark quickly blocked the incoming mana slash with his daggers. But soon after another came and another one, as they began to stack upon each other. Even Nozark couldn’t handle all of them.
“Is t-this a cloning spell?!” Nozark questioned to himself before he was enveloped in the explosions. A minute later when the attack ended Alex sighed in relief as every last one of the soldiers had fallen.
‘Who knew reading those books would come in handy’ This was one of the spells which he had found in the books kept in the library. Thanks to his good memory he remembered the incantations. He wondered whether this is what Miracle meant by he had ‘something strong’.
Alex’s boost spell had also come to an end now causing him to feel heavy and sluggish. These were the after effects of using that spell. Just as he was about to take a seat a silhouette of man appeared in front of him. Their eyes met as Alex was dumbfounded. It was a battered Nozark swinging his dagger down upon him.
*Stab*
Blood dripped on the ground from Blake’s hand as the dagger had gone through his hand near his index finger and thumb. “Tch!” Nozark tried to withdraw his dagger when he suddenly felt that it was stuck in place.
“Oi Human! What are you waiting for? Knock his lights off!” Blake said with a smirk. Alex replied in action as his mana cladded sword hit him right in the face with the flat surface causing Nozark’s body to bolt back and crash into a nearby tree.
Not a second later Alex and Blake dropped to the ground panting. This battle had worn them out mentally and physically. Blake after removing the dagger from his hand tore off a bit of jacket and wrapped it around his hand to stop the bleeding.
“Why didn’t you released that cloning spell earlier when we were being bombarded with those attacks?” Blake asked pissed.
“Well believe me or not, I wasn’t able to recall it.” Alex said looking blankly in the distance. The once battle cry filled spot in the forest had gone completely silent.
“Huh… I suppose it’s good that you recalled it, otherwise we would’ve been either killed or thrown in some prison.” Blake said as he began to get up.
‘Oi Alex! That insect captain from earlier is approaching rapidly!’ Miracle warned.
Alex’s eyes widened at the sudden warning.
“Blake, we need to—
“Oh, so you both actually won against my team huh?” A familiar voice resounded in their ears.
Blake paused in his spot as he slowly looked up only to find Captain Gale standing leisurely on the branch of a tree. His golden armor from before was nowhere to be found. He only had a black t-shirt on along with a golden pants. There were a few scratches on his body and faces but apart from that he seemed perfectly fine.
“You even defeated Nozark huh? I have to say I underestimated this other brat, Blake. Is he a friend of yours?” Gale asked playfully.
“We are not friends!”
“We are not friends!”
The both of the strongly opposed at the same time.
“Haha, talk about timing. Well, it seems the two of you are rather beat up, wished I had made it earlier to fight you both but unfortunately that grenade of yours earlier packed quite a punch Blake, I was knocked out for a while.” Gale said with his voice turning cold at the last sentence. He was clearly mad at that grenade thing and wanted payback!
