All that I could see past the gate in this fog was the paved walkway leading into the school. The walkway looked as if it was going endlessly into foggy oblivion, things really look different in the fog.
I could not hear anyone, so I sat on a bench and enjoyed the very temporary silence. Soon, a golf cart rolls into view…
“Hey there, you new here?”
It was a man wearing a staff uniform. I responded…
”Yes.”
“I’m a student aide, what’s your name?”
”Can you tell me yours?”
Maybe that was not the right thing to say…
“Oh, right, good point, my name’s Mr.A.”
” Nice to meet you, Mr.A, I’m Ronan.”
” Woah, Ronan? As in…Ronan Hawthorne?”
Ronan:” Yes…what’s the big deal?”
” Because you’re Ron’s adopted son, you’re the first Hybron to be adopted in the state! I heard a lot about you.”
It seems I’ve gotten a name for myself, I started to feel uncomfortable…
”Okay.”
” Although, some major media outlets made a major stink about it.”
”That’s predictable, so that’s how you heard about it?`”
”That’s predictable, so that’s how you heard about it?`”
” Yeah, but it’s not a good idea to talk any further about it Ronan, the school is a public place. And public places have hostile ears.”
I’m not sure if the press told the entire story, but I guess a brutal murder and a tale of a 9-year-old going to death row would not cut it for public television. Or are they just trying to hide something?
” Good point.”
Mr.A said his goodbyes and drove off on his golf cart.
*BEEEEEEEEEEP!*
The bell is so loud, I think it pressed in on my eardrums. It is time for period one to begin. The school is basically a bunch of buildings connected by corridors with a large outdoor area in the center of it all. I am currently navigating the English and Academics building which was brightly lit and seemed newer than the other buildings. I pulled out the little paper schedule that was given to me at orientation, I was supposed to go to room 301.
Ronan:” 305…304…303..302…Ah ha, 301!”
I entered the classroom to see that the teacher was writing on the whiteboard, she just noticed my arrival.
“Good morning, please pick a seat.”
”Yes ma’am”
“You don’t need your BlabbBook today.”
The class was packed with students, there are only two seats available in the very back. The empty seats are right next to each other. The teacher in the front of the room turned to face the class…
“Good morning everyone, we are going to begin reading a new book in class tomorrow. Plus, Halloween is coming in two weeks- Oh, wait, I forgot we have two new students today.”
I muttered...
”Another one?”
Just then, someone just entered the room, huffing as if they’d been running. The newcomer took the seat next to mine, she was a shy and timid-looking female.
”I’m Ronan Hawthorne.”
As soon as I said my name, the girl took a look at me then looked away the instant she saw me looking back at her. She had vibrant amber eyes…
The teacher asked me a question…
“What is your favorite quote?”
I replied…
“I came up with my own, can I state it?”
“Yes, but make it school-appropriate.”
”Here it is…There is nothing wrong with believing in what you believe, but there is definitely something wrong with forcing it on others or inflicting harm with your belief.”
“Well played, Ronan.”
The girl was staring at me again, she looked away when I looked back.
The girl spoke…
“Well- Um, I am Alyson, Alyson Smith. My favorite quote is from Abraham Lincoln- “Why fight your enemies when you could be their friend?” Or something like that…”
A few icebreaker questions later. Ms.Baker told us that there are no assignments today. Aly was staring at me again…
” Hey Alyson, anything bothering you?”
She jumped in her seat and looked away…
” Oh- N-Nothing really…”
That was when I noticed that her eyes were a bit more orange than amber. Her light brown hair ran down the back of her seat. Good god, she looks beautiful, best not to get too attached though, she could be taken or not interested.
“Young lady, your turn.”
The girl spoke…

A few icebreaker questions later. Ms.Baker told us that there are no assignments today. Aly was staring at me again…

[Tip: The story is going to change its point of view.]
[Switching to Aly]
Ronan had dark brown hair and blue eyes that flashed from behind the hair that hung in front of his face. The rings below his eyes suggest exhaustion. When I first walked in here, I had no idea that Ronan Hawthorne himself would be attending. He has definitely grown from the boy I’ve seen in the news report a few years ago.
[Switching back to Ronan]
“Class, the bell is about to ring, pack up.”
I did not do anything since I did not bring a bag.
*BEEEEEEEEP!!!*
I stood up, pushed my chair in, and left the classroom.
