The sound of a ringtone woke the brunette woman only for her to turn on her side and cuddle into the naked body against her. "Your phone is ringing, shut it off," Kendall mumbled as she buried her face in Payton's neck, taking in the other girl's scent.
"Not mine, mine's in the living room."
"And?"
"The ringtones coming from the floor," Payton smiled as Kendall jumped up immediately.
"My 10 o'clock appointment with Mrs. Liam. What time is it?" Kendall yelled as she scrambled to find her phone in their clothes.
"Try your purse," Payton mumbles as she sits up.
"My purse is in the living room, where are my pants?" Kendall hollers throwing her hand up in defeat.
"Found em'," Payton smiles as she looks over her side of the bed, slowly bending over before sitting back up with said pants dangling on her index finger. Kendall sighs as she walks over to the other woman before shoving her hands into the front pockets of the pants. "Hello?" Kendall smiles happy to have caught the call, she leans over leaving a chaste kiss on Payton's lips. "Mom? I thought you were my boss calling," Kendall sighs slightly agitated at the unneeded interruption. "Dinner? Tonight? Why?" Kendall asks her face scrunching up in confusion, "Payton isn't with me-...Oh...Give me a minute," Kendall almost whispers into the phone, the blood long drained from her face.
"What's wrong?" Payton asks standing to grab the brunette's unoccupied hand.
"She knows," Kendall whispers as if she were a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
"Knows what? Kendall, you have to give me context before saying-"
"She knows we're together, like in the same house. Do you think she knows that we're dating?" Kendall asks clutching the phone to her chest.
"Probably not considering I didn't even know," Payton says, her hands landing on her hips.
"We are right?" Kendall asks her fear-filled eyes boring into Paytons, the shorter girl couldn't help but smile. She was the one out of the brunette's league and yet she wasn't even nearly as scared as the other girl was. This was surprising considering Payton was scared out of her mind and panicking in her head. "I want to. But if it's not what you want-"
"No, I mean yes that's exactly what I want-," Kendall's anxious banter was interrupted by screams coming from the phone still clutched closely to her chest.
"Did you mute the call?" Payton asks with a smile, that smile growing wider when Kendall's eyes grew wide.
"No, I forgot. What do I do? I'm going to hang up." Kendall asks panicking.
"No, don't hang up answer it!" Payton smiles as she gently takes the phone from the brunette putting the call on speaker. "Hi, Mrs. Marshall."
"Payton, is that you? I told you they'd end up dating, you owe me 20 bucks," Mrs. Marshall could be heard yelling at someone there in the room with her.
"Yeah, yeah so does Payton she bet 40." Casey's voice rang over the speakers of the phone, which caught Kendall's ear cause as soon as those words registered in her brain her eye's snapped to meet Payton's eyes
"You did what?!"
"Snitch!" Payton yells before Kendall grabs the phone from her hand.
"What else did you bet on?" Kendall asks mere inches away from Payton.
"Whether you two would get married let alone date that's what the 40 bucks are for. Half for the dating part and the other half for the marriage part," Casey voiced, enjoyment clear in her voice.
"To be fair I didn't think I was remotely on your radar, I mean we were in college...I was drunk and you were dating Jack-"
"You were drunk because she was dating Jack, remember? He had asked her to move in with him that day." Casey voiced.
"Casey, seriously, pie hole. Please," Payton hollers towards the phone.
"How drunk?" Kendall asks bringing the phone closer to her mouth.
"Off her ass-"
"Casey Marshall!"
"Sorry."
"But she's right she was really drunk. Had such a bad hangover she had to call out of school."
"Payton," Kendall asks her voice cracking. Payton just shrugged, she didn't know what else to do. It was all true. Before she could apologize though Kendall had engulfed her in a hug, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Didn't want you to hate me. Plus it's your dating life so I had no say in it and if he made you happy then I was fine with it. I just crumbled that day." Payton shrugged as much as she could as she held the other woman.
"You still owe me 40 bucks Ives."
"Mom," Payton yelled letting go of her lover just enough to yell into the phone.
"What?"
"Is there anything else you need, if not I'm hanging up."
"Oh, right. Dinner, tonight, 7 pm. Don't be late. And don't forget my money." was all the oldest woman said before hanging up leaving her daughter stunned.
"Wonder what's for dinner," Payton smiles, gently grabbing the taller woman by the waist.
"You might never know." Kendall smiled, her nose brushing the shorter woman's before she went in for a kiss.
"Oh, really. Why?" Payton asks letting her hands roam down from Kendall's waist to the top of her plush ass.
"You might not make it out of bed before then," Kendall whispers letting her lips brush the shell of Payton's ear before gently sucking her lobe into her mouth.
They didn't leave bed until twelve in the afternoon.
“Yeah, asshole didn’t even pay his part of the bill”
“Didn’t you say he’s a doctor?”
“Yeah so. Jeez, Kendall control your pitbull.”
“Not her pitbull.”
“Sorry, what was that Payton?”
“I said I’m not her pitbull Nell.”
“Calm down Payton she’s just messing with you,” Payton growled calmly when Kendall rested her hand on her shoulder.
“See. Pitbull, no beast. That’s it your her beast and she’s your beauty.” Nell laughed, clapping in excitement. Payton rolled her eyes at that, yeah it was kind of true. But they weren’t dating Kendall wasn’t gay, Payton was but not Kendall there is no way Kendall could be gay. In all the years she and Payton had been friends, she had never seen Kendall without a guy wrapped around her finger. But that doesn’t mean it hadn’t crossed her mind. Her mother would always say she should find someone like Payton but it wasn’t until as of late that she actually took the joke as a serious option. Not that she couldn’t find a man like Payton, but what if she didn’t want ‘like’ but the actual thing? No no no, you're not supposed to think about your best friend like that Kendall.
For better or worse is complete for the foreseeable future.
