I looked at him in silence, trying to figure out what to say.
His attitude along with his arrogance was really starting to annoy me at this point. And without a second thought, " Pity. " I blurted out in reply as I watched his response.
He looked back at me strangely and what he did next was something I did not expect.
He moved back a little and slightly bowed. " Thank you. " He said, his gratitude laced with sincerity.
I for one was taken aback. And I could feel the rest of the pack mirroring my feelings.
The response I had expected was anger and that he would say something on the lines of, " I don't require your pity. "
" And may I ask what you plan on doing with me? " He asked as he looked around at the cage.
" A few answers... We need a few answers and you can rest here and leave after you've gained enough strength. " I said in my alpha voice.
" Fair enough. " He said in his alpha voice. It seemed like we had reached an agreement but the tension in the air was still high.
" And if you could extend your generosity a little more, I would like to shift and have a warm bath if you don't mind. " He said formally as his eyes sparkled curiously as they looked at mine.
My frown deepened but I controlled myself this time. This confirmed that he was indeed a werewolf. And there was no doubt that he knew that I was one too.
" How do I know that you won't hurt any of us? " I asked sceptically as I stared back at him, his amusement starting to irk me again.
He nodded understanding my concern and growled, " I vow not to harm anyone of you. Let the Moon Goddess be my witness. And besides, I can't do much with this leg. " He added at the end with a chuckle as he raised his injured leg.
I turned back to look at Daen, to seek her view on this. Daen had taught me that the Moon Goddess was our ultimate deity, so things said in her name were quite serious. Daen nodded her head reassuringly and I turned back to Felix.
" Alright. " I said as I stood up. After quickly heading over to the house and changing into my normal clothes instead of my shifting cloaks, I headed back cautiously to open the cage.
