Mrs. Young enters Eun-Hee room, her heart shatters seeing her only child in a worse stage. She rushes towards her and embraces her. "Mom, I lost him," Eun-Hee says in a sob. Her mother looks at her face worried but doesn't comment on it. Instead, she tries to reassure her daughter.
"I know, sweetie. We will find a way." Eun-Hee nods and hugs her mom tighter. They were sitting down when Mrs. Young's phone rings indicating that someone is calling for her. Eun-Hee sits up and lets go of the hug, she takes the call. As she hears the person on the other line speaking she starts getting anxious again.
“Hello? … Mr. Young, can you hear me? … Okay… thank you." Then she hangs up. She turns to look at her daughter and smiles. “Eunnie, remember what your father told you when you were little." Eun-Hee stares at her with confusion. “Don't get lost." She continues smiling gently. "Your papa said he will always be right there beside you no matter where you are." At this moment, tears fill her eyes.
She gets up and walks toward her daughter who has tears running down her face. She cups her cheeks and wipes them away with her thumbs. "Don't cry. Please, my baby girl. Don't cry." Her daughter looks up at her with watery eyes and gives a soft smile. “I'm sorry for crying, Mommy. It's just so much today. Everything seems to make me want to cry. Like everything is making me feel hopeless." Mrs. Young strokes her cheek and kisses her forehead, then goes back to sit beside her daughter.
“Everything will be okay. I promise. And if not I'll stay by your side every step of the way. I'm here for you. Always." Eun-Hee smiles sadly. "I know, Mom." A sudden thought came into her mind. "Mom, I think we should visit the doctor." Eun-Hee places her hand on her belly and caresses it gently. "Sorry Baby, mommy giving you so much hard time." Then she looks up and smiles at Mrs.Young.
"You're right! We should visit the doctor." Then she remembers something else. "I also have one more thing we need to do." Eun-Hee looks at her curious about what she is going to say. "I need to teach Soon-Ja a lesson as well." Eun-Hee shook her head. "Mom, this is not her fault. I made a mistake and I am paying because of me, not Soon-Ja." Mrs.Young shakes her head in disagreement. "That is true. But Soon-Ja hurt you. You shouldn't blame yourself either, Eun-Hee." Mrs. Young pats her head. "Let's go visit the doctor now."
They stand up and walk out of the room.
Jung-Won rubs his temple gently. The flashback of the morning keeps recalling in his mind. Eun-Hee is pregnant and the thoughts about her health keep disturbing him. He feels terrible for feeling he is worried that if she starts having any complications with the pregnancy then something bad could happen to them.
Jung-Won let out a sigh and glanced at the wall clock. It’s almost noon but it doesn’t stop him from working on the documents. As his hands are busy signing some papers, suddenly a click sound on the door catches his attention. When he turns around he sees Soon-Ja standing at the door, wearing casual clothes as usual and carrying a big box.
“Soon-Ja? Why are you here?” Jung-Won says while getting up.
"Because you have not eaten anything," Soon-Ja replies calmly.
The answer surprises Jung-Won but he just chuckles. “You know me well.”
“So, you are my husband. I should take care of you.” Soon-Ja puts the box down on the table and sits next to Jung-Won. Jung-Won smiles as she serves him food. "You didn't eat well in the morning as well." She adds and Jung knows why. After all, this has been happening quite often. Whenever he works late nights and wakes up earlier than other times, he doesn't eat properly. "Mr. Geun?" He hums in response. Soon-Ja heaves a deep breath and lets it out. "You should take Mrs. Geun to the doctor." Jung-Won stops eating and put his chopsticks aside. He turns around and stares at Soon-Ja who looks serious and determined.
She was right but he doesn't want to go with her. "You are too kind, Soon-Ja." He gives his wife his warm smile. “I will think about your suggestion.”
Soon-Ja Ja looks back at him and gives him a small smile. It seems that his answer was good enough. She picks up Jung’s plate. Then Soon Ja stands up. "I need to clean them." Jung-Won nods his head after she heads out of his office.
"You're right Soon-Ja, she is carrying my baby. I need to take care of her." He whispers while staring at the empty space.
"Ms. Seon, Someone wants to meet you." Soon-Ja frowns and wonders who wants to meet her. "Who?" She asks, being curious. The girl shrugs her shoulders. "Okay, bring the person here." The girl nods and leaves. After a few moments, she comes back with a woman. She's beautiful but looks sad. Her eyes are rimmed in red from crying and her long hair is pulled away from her face. She stands by the door looking down at her feet. "Ms. Seon, here is she."
Soon-Ja shifts her gaze to the lady and her eyes widen in shock. "Ms. Seon, I may take my leave now." the girl leaves. The old lady glances at Soon-Ja who is not believing her eyes. "Mom?" Soon-Ja whispers under her breath. Before Soon-Ja can say anything else a small sob escapes her throat as tears start to fall from her eyes. A tear falls from the lady's left eye as well. "Oh, Soon-Ja," she mumbles as she opens her arms to embrace Soon-Ja.
Soon-Ja shakes her head and wipes her tears away. "What are you doing here? How did you find me? Why? When?" She takes a deep breath and calms herself down. "Soon-Ja," The lady whispers as she tries hard to hold in her emotions.
Soo-Ja turns around and closes her eyes after seeing her mother's tears she doesn't want to melt. They both stand there for what seems like an eternity. "Mom, leave. Don't come back again." Soon-Ja, says with a harsh tone. Once the words leave Soon, her mother's heart breaks even more. Tears stream down her cheek as she sobs.
Soon Ja notices this and sighs as tears fall too. The two stand there in silence for who knows how long. "Are you leaving or should I call someone?" Soon-Ja asks as she looks at her mother. The older lady shakes her head no and pulls Soon into an embrace. "Forgive me Soon-Ja." She mumbles between tears as she tightens her grip. Soon-Ja doesn't hug her back. Instead, she pushes her off her and steps back.
Once the girl was far enough away, she let out a deep breath. The last thing she wanted to hear right now was more apologies. Her mother sighs and leaves the place immediately. Soonja sighs and leans against the wall. "Why did you come back, Mom?"
Hanuel places the empty glass of drink on the counter and orders another one. He looks at his watch, seeing that it was just 5:30. He has been skipping hospital since the incident. "Eun-Hee, you said you will never leave me, then why did you choose him instead of me?" He asks himself out loud while placing a glass again on the counter. "Why I can't be him?" He questions again as he takes a sip of his new alcoholic beverage. "You broke me. You broke the heart which loves you no matter what." He tells himself. Hanuel sighs.
