For it clearly reminds me of all the paranormal documentaries I have consumed with awe.
I try to push the thoughts away and just go with the flow of the chain. I may have seen it before and received it in some absurd context, but it is the last memento of my grandmother.
I should stick to this part of the necklace.
The fox's head and tail are intertwined, like a heart. But right between the little notches that are supposed to be eyes, there is a small colourless stone.
I don't know why, or what makes me laugh so terribly, but I can't help it.
Suddenly there was a deafening crash.
I jumped up, dropping the chain to the ground.
"Mother?" I call, opening the door to my room.
But she did not answer. I get up and go to the stairwell, where I find my brothers as confused as I am.
They both shrug, Ewin going down first.
"Looks like someone has done some serious damage," Lauren says suddenly, as if out of nowhere.
I also pick up strange bits and pieces from my mother's discussion. Which, to be honest, don't tell me much.
"Where are you going?" I ask Lauren.
He doesn't answer and just goes back to his room.
Strange, normally he'd be the first to go down and look.
His studies are really taking a lot out of him.
"Mum?" I call after him as I walk down the stairs.
I stopped abruptly.
It was only then that I realised she was talking to a man. A male whose voice sounds very familiar.
More curious than ever, I continued towards the front door.
I can't believe it!
Shocked, I grabbed hold of the frame.
I blinked once or twice to make sure I'd made a mistake.
Unfortunately, I wasn't.
Damn it!
The guy I met at the cemetery is standing there.
I should never have said never!
I wanted to bite my tongue right then and there.
Now his arrogant attitude makes sense.
What is he doing here?
