This is Daecon (rhymes with bacon) Doe. Daecon is the main hero and protagonist of this story, though he seldom feels like one. He was raised among humans and, like most humans, had no knowledge of the Shifters at all. That is, until a near-death experience caused him to grow a pair of wings out of his back. He meets Owen, a Shifter who, along with his husband Leander, takes Daecon under his care and helps him to figure out exactly what and who the hell he is…. Because whatever the hell he is, he wasn’t that until just now. Doe is not Daecon’s real last name, it was provided by the human government for the orphanage he was raised in because his birth parents were unknown. His name would have been John Doe, but Dion, his caregiver, insisted that he be called Daecon for some reason.
Special features/skills: Um… he’s kind of hot, there’s always that. His muscular build, white hair, dark skin, and mismatched eyes are incredibly sexy. Oh, and he’s got money out the wazoo. Some incredible luck in the early days of crypto mining has made him a billionaire - not that all that money is going to help him now. Because of his money and his attractiveness he can be a bit arrogant and pig-headed. Hopefully he'll grow out of that.
Daecon is gay, out, loud, and proud.
When meeting new people (usually one-night-stands – he takes that Pokemon “Gotta catch ‘em all” thing a little too seriously when it comes to dating) he’s guarded about his past. He is notoriously quick to anger, especially if he witnesses an act of social injustice such as homophobia or racism. Being gay and a person of colour (at least he thinks he is, he never knew his parents but his skin is pretty dark), these two subjects are very close to him.
As for skills, he’s new to all of this, OK? Just leave him alone, he’ll learn. But what’s up with that botched hybrid shift thing he does? Never saw that happen before….
