The sun was shining upon the city of Calven. At the center of this city, the mansion of the Griffin family nobly stood. It was a day of winter, though all the season of cold could bring upon the city was merely stopping the heat radiating from the nearby Great Desert.
On that day, the young lord of the Griffin family completed his second awakening.
"Could you leave me alone for a while? I need to think." After the words of the young lord, the doctor asked:
"Is there something wrong? Do you feel any pain?"
"No, I just need I bit of time to think"
The family doctor slightly bowed her head and left the room.
It was a spacious room with a double bed. There was no duvet on it and the sheets were tainted with sweat. On it, Edward Griffin was sitting. He had a handsome face with no blemishes, and his blood-red eyes were charming, though right now they carried an exhausted look. His messy hair that reached his shoulders was black except for the streaks that were the same color as his eyes. He turned his head towards the large window on his left and watched the scenery of the city.
'So I truly was reincarnated.' He thought. After he went through his first awakening at the age of 13, he started to remember bits of his past life, but there were so few of them and they were so discrete, he thought that it was only a part of his imagination.
But a couple of minutes ago, as he finished his second awakening, all the memories of his past life poured into his mind.
'Thinks worked out as the old man planned. I reached adulthood by this world's standards and now I regained my memories' In this world -Ark- a person was regarded as an adult after their second awakening. Usually, it would happen around the age of 20, but just as his first awakening, this one too happened about 2 years early.
He slowly raised from the bed, grabbed the clean set of garb that was left on the nightstand, and headed towards the bath. There was a bathtub and a shower cabin. He undressed and entered the latter. While showering, he started to think.
'There are many elements that shaped the history of this people to be much different from where I used to live, but two of them surely have a much greater effect than the others.'
He first thought about the Psyon particles. In the world he came from, they were discovered about 30 years before his first birth. He remembered how his teacher at the high school talked about the matter. 'After finally uniting all of the forces under a single formula, there was a technological breakthrough. And what did they discover with this new tech? Something that couldn't fit within that so-called "final equation". Many wanted to reject it and claimed that there must be something wrong with observations. But with the consistent data gathered through many experiments, it was eventually accepted. Thus, humanity learned about the "fifth force" Psyon particles.'
After he was done, he turned off the water and reached for the towel.
'People of Ark on the other hand, already knew about the Psyon particles, under the name of "Mana". They knew about it for so long that there isn't even a recorded date of its discovery.'
The reason for that was one of the two differences he thought about.
The difference in the density of Psyon particles, or rather "Mana".
The Mana in this world was incomparably denser than where he came from.
In his previous world, the effects of mana could be felt only after the accident that happened about 15 years before his birth.
In Ark, mana had a much greater density compared to what the experiment brought upon his previous world. It was always the greatest factor in the making of Ark's history.
'But the existence of the mana is common sense in this world, so I have no clue why this world has so much mana... or why the other world was severely lacking it.'
He dried his body and wore the set of garb, then returned to his bedroom. He took a seat on his chair that was between the bed and the window, next to a tea table. The similarity in the patterns adorning their smooth, dark brown wooden surfaces indicated that they were crafted as a set.
He pressed to bell on the table, and two servants entered the room immediately after. They were probably waiting right outside the room for a while now.
"Change the sheets and bring me some cherry juice." One of them bowed and left. The other followed him after gathering the sheets. He continued thinking while waiting for his beverage.
'The other difference is... Trials.' To his knowledge, "Trials" were the times of war that happened after about 30 years of protection, when divine lights were cast upon the demon continent. During those times, demons would raid the central continent and the eastern continent. "Her protection" which sealed the demon continent, would be regularly opened for two purposes: to change its form to the divine lights so that it would purify the excess demonic energy... and to prevent people from straying too far away from Her wish. Afterall...
"Her wish is our thriving" He silently chanted as he was reviewing his knowledge about the Trials.
'If mana is the greatest factor that shaped this world, then trials are the greatest factor that shaped the civilization.' Before he could think more about the topic, the doors of his room opened. There stood someone who looked like he was in his mid-twenties. His black hair was short and well-trimmed. He was wearing elegant black trousers and a white silk shirt that carried a griffin crest on it. He was masculine and tall, about a head taller than Edward. His dark red eyes were fixated on him.
"I see that you successfully Awakened, little brother." Said the newcomer who carried a face similar to his own. "Congratulations."
With his strong destiny, the protagonist piques the interest of a peculiar Divine Being. As the mysterious entity temporarily pulls this soul to have a little talk with the person who he enjoyed watching the life of, he realizes that the soul in front of him is completely unaware of many trials and tribulations brought upon him by his destiny. Telling him that he wanted to watch the life of this soul again, The Divine Being reincarnates him in a different world.
