Under the magically homogenous lighting of the candles that carried a sophisticated look worthy of the luxurious dining room, their family doctor spoke:
"There were no abnormalities in his Awakening. His Job is 'Qi master', a Red Job just as you were expecting." Jobs were grouped under color names. The colors themselves weren't really relevant to the function of the Jobs, they were used for giving a simple understanding over general outlines of what to expect from a Job.
Red Jobs were the most suitable Jobs for frontal combat, such as sword masters.
The doctor continued:
"As you may already know, qi masters tend to have slightly less mana output compared to other 'elites' of the color Red. However, they possess some utility abilities, and their control over mana is somewhere between Red and Blue Jobs."
Blue Jobs were not tailored for frontal combat, however, their mana control was more advanced compared to the other Jobs. A wizard would be a good example.
There were also Green Jobs; they were competent in combat, usually good at range, and possessed strong utility abilities, like hunters or assassins.
"Qi masters usually don't use weapons or talismans in combat, so their body and their stance function as their Catalyst. They don't have good compatibility with armor, however, they can benefit from certain light garments, just like Blue Jobs."
"What about his characteristics?" Although Jobs described the overall "theme" of how someone would use their mana, there could be some differences between the people of the same Job, like being able to use certain aspects of their Job better than the others, having a Trait, or simply having a larger mana pool.
"He didn't get a Trait from the Awakening. From the checks I made today, I expect him to have a large mana pool. His mana control was also remarkable. On the other hand, his raw output looked like it was a bit lower than what would be expected from his Job. Other than that, we can't say much because he is yet to do any training with his Job." Hearing those, the father nodded in satisfaction.
"It looks like you will be doing well, Edward. Don't be discouraged by having less output. Having a large mana pool and good control over what you can pull out from it is quite good. Don't be stuck on what you lack, one can't have it all anyway. As long as you work diligently, you will be fine."
Edward was quite satisfied with the results, but he subtly smiled when his father told him that "One can't have it all". Those words felt awkward when they came from the mouth of a man regarded as a genius across the continent.
"I will try my best, father." hearing this, his father continued:
"Good. Since there is no issue with your Awakening we should hold a celebration."
In this world, both of the Awakenings, especially the second one, were considered important milestones in life.
Noble families and some wealthy ones usually held a celebration for these occasions.
As a son of the Griffin family Awakened, others would be expecting a celebration.
"This Saturday should be good. Are you fine with that?"
"Yes, father."
"Hmm... That brings us to the matter of finding a teacher for you. There is still sometime before the next term of the Central Academy..." At that point, Kaiden intervened:
"Father, I recently checked the guild members list with that in mind." The father nodded to him to continue. "We do have some qi masters in our ranks, however, non of them have reached the 4th tier. On the other hand, amongst the 4th-tier people of our guild, there is one individual of not the same Job, but a relevant one."
"Monk Rim" the father mumbled. It wasn't difficult for their father to remember whom Raiden was talking about because even in their guild, they had only a handful of 4th-tier individuals.
"Now that I think about it, she might have educated some of the qi masters in our guild when they were juniors."
"That is the case." Kaiden confirmed. "Here are all the individuals I found through my check." He took out some papers and handed them to his father, each paper briefly describing the guild members Kaiden thought as a potential instructor for his brother.
"Good work. Then I will ask for Monk Rim's opinion tomorrow. I will also need to check which tasks those people are currently assigned to."
There was only some small talk after that.

Lorcan Griffin was an organized person. His sleek black hair, his always-ironed uniform, the way he walked which gave the impression of he was unable to trip... When someone looked at him, they would think that he reached the epitome of trimness, and he would be able to be there indefinitely.
That man's face was stiffened by the proposal he just heard.
"I have told you before, I have no intention of hiding. Even if the assumption you told me about is correct, that only gives more reason to the Griffin family to be at Calven when the Trial comes. Do you think they would graciously leave the city behind once they realized that I was no longer there? If they can't hurt me directly, they would at least try to hurt me in a roundabout way. What action is there that can hurt me more than destroying a city which is under my rule and protection?"
"They won't utilize their full power if you aren't there." The voice was coming from the communication crystal that was stationed on a table, in front of Lorcan.
"And it would still be enough to break through the city walls, and kill everyone behind."
There was no reply coming from the crystal.
"If the things you told me are true, I can't see another way for my city to survive."
"...To be honest, I wasn't expecting you to decide for your sons to be there."
"They benefitted from my title for their entire life, so they at least should be here to protect the city when that time comes." His words ended there, but there was something Lorcan didn't mention. There was something he prepared, that would trigger under a certain condition, but he didn't want to vocalize that possibility.
Unable to bear the curiosity anymore, the voice asked a question:
"Can you... do it? Do you really think you can hold off a Demon Lord until its banishment has been triggered?"
"Honestly, I do not know." he replied. "But I am the only person on the continent who can hope to achieve this feat."
