Juan quickly took his place, and everyone immediately started plating their food. For the next couple minutes, the only sounds were the passing of dishes and utensils scraping the food onto their plates.

Unfortunately, the silence didn't last for long as Encarnita spoke up. "So, Juan, I haven't been seeing you around as often. Are you dating someone?"

Immediately, he lost his appetite, but he couldn't just leave without saying anything. It would be rude, and his mother would definitely chew him out for his behavior.

"Is that true?" asked one of his cousins. "How come we didn't know about this?"

His mother gasped before he could deny such accusations. "Why didn't you say so sooner? Why haven't you intrdocued this mystery girl to us?"
