Sleeping Alone Sucks

I woke up crying

Because you weren’t beside me

It’s moments like this when I realize

Life sucks without you by my side

The days drag along slowly 

And my soul feels extraordinarily lowly 

Because I can’t see your face

Because I can’t feel your embrace

It’s always in hindsight 

That we recognize the blight

And in the moments of pure joy

We take for granted, and we destroy 

We are a broken society 

Weighed down by sadness and anxiety

Distracted by guilty pleasures

Avoiding and fighting countermeasures 

My advice to you on this gloomy day 

Is to meet the ones you love halfway

Pick and choose the battles you fight

And maybe you won’t sleep alone tonight
