I sighed, slowly starting to follow my family.

When we got into the mall the owner greeted us and took us in the direction of the shop owner and interviewer who had asked for my dad to come. They wanted my dad to do an interview and sign some books and stuff. I think they also wanted an author there to attract people to the mall and boost sales. Apart from expensive designer clothes most of the other shops I saw just sold tacky stuff, then again my family did have a lot of money, so a conclusion like this was probably to be expected.

The people that had wanted my dad to be here were an old couple, and a girl with brown hair of about twenty. They also had a boy with them, he looked about my age, I assumed he was the younger brother of the girl, they had the same hair colour and just looked quite similar in general. My parents and the older couple exchanged words, they then asked the girl a few questions and turned to me and my siblings.

“You lot go do something for a bit, and i’ll come pick you up and take you to the hotel later, okay?” My mothers voice was gentle and quite calming to listen to. It sounds weird but it really suits her, she has caramel brown hair and green eyes, she has a beauty mark on the left, under her lip.

“Okay” My sister replied and we started walking off.

“Cassian” My dad called, I stopped. “If anything bad were to happen, I assume I can trust you?” I carried on walking without replying, glancing at him as I left the shop.

My siblings were already ahead of me, of course they didn’t wait. They never waited. I wasn’t particularly close with any of them. Chances are they probably didn’t even notice I was behind them. Whatever, I didn’t really want to stick with them. I paused, looking around. “It’s a bit hot in here, and it’s really empty, that must mean it’s not that much of an interesting place, right?”, I thought to myself, “Maybe i could go outside for a bit, i’m sure nobody would notice”

When I got outside, I noticed there was an arcade about ten, maybe twenty metres to my right, of course that would be my first destination. I love arcades. So I ran to it, only giving the ongoing traffic a slight glance. The drivers honked their horns at me, whatever. I ran into the arcade, looking at all the machines, of course I ran straight for street fighter. I searched my pockets for coins.

“Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck”, I muttered to myself.

“Need something?”, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to look at who it was, the brown haired boy from earlier, what was he doing here?

“Why are you here?” I pushed his hand away.

“I could ask the same for you, weren’t you meant to go with your siblings?” He put his hand in his pocket.

“Well probably.." I answered. "but whatever, now answer my question.”

“Because i felt like being at an arcade?”

“But why?” I for some reason had a slightly annoyed expression on my face. The other boy seemed quite content.

“Because i wanted to use arcade machines? Why else would i be here?" He said. "Whatever, whats your name?” He itched the back of his head with one hand.

"I dont know?" I sighed. “Anyway, my name's Cassian, you?”

“Gabriel. Also if you don’t have any coins most people here leave their bags outside on the tables while they order stuff at the cafe, just take some.” He said this so casually, and with a troublesome look in his emerald green eyes. 

I had a feeling this boy would be trouble. "Or use the cash machine, if you have money but it's in notes." He added.
