Episode 6: Overload
Ven awakens with a large gasp. He looks around and finds himself in the same room that he woke up in when he first arrived to this strange world. He looks around and finds no one else in the room. Dazed, he then climbs out of the bed and heads over to the same place where he assumed he would find the white-haired man, Enishi, was waiting for him earlier.
Lo and behold, Enishi was already in the same spot, reading the same damn book.
“I was wondering when you would wake up,” Enishi says nonchalantly. “Did you have fun trying to run?” He grins.
“How did I end up back here?! All I remember was being attacked by some crazy guy and then everything went black!” Ven shouts.
“You mean this crazy guy?”
Ven whips his head around and finds the man that attacked him earlier standing behind him.
“Stay back!” Ven warns while taking a fighting stance.
The man cocks his head. “You look stupid,” says the man grinning. “I told you Enishi, this kid definitely needs some training. Look at his ridiculous fighting stance. My grandmother posed better than that in her casket, Hewa, bless her.”
Enishi closes his book and stands. He smiles and replies, “It’s OK Ven. This crazy guy won’t hurt you.”
Enishi and the strange man shake hands, stare at each other, and then bust out laughing.
“When I said have fun, I didn’t mean for you to scare the kid!” Enishi cackles.
“I had to make it believable! You should've seen his face, tt was so funny. I can’t wait to tell Kia about this!”
The two men continue to laugh.
“What did I miss?”
Suddenly, a woman appears out of nowhere. She walks up to Enishi and the other man and casually drapes her arm over Enishi’s shoulder. She stands at about 5ft 6", long blueish gray hair, mocha complexion with soft blue eyes. She wears a blue tunic, black pants and black boots. She's stunning. Hell, they all are.
“Nyx here decided to have some fun with our guest. You know how that goes.” Enishi jokes and points at Ven.
“Damn! Why didn't you tell me! I would have loved to see what you did to the kid!” The woman, Kia, replies while nudging the other man, Nyx.
Nyx grins. “I honestly thought he was going to piss himself. It took every ounce of self-control not to bust out laughing!”
They all laugh, playfully nudging each other, completely ignoring Ven while he just stands there awkwardly, staring at them in confusion. The three of them continue to snicker and speak amongst themselves, not noticing Ven's body become tense, full of rage.
“HELLO?! How can you all just stand there laughing?! What is going on!?” Yells Ven.
The three of them stop their childish behavior and glare at Ven.
“Apologies,” Enishi clears his throat. “We clearly have no manners. Let me introduce you. Like I told you before, my name is Enishi Sato. This is Nyx and Kia. We are members of the Tower of the Republic.”
“We have been waiting on you for quite a while,” says Kia cheerfully.
“So I’ve heard.” Ven rolls his eyes.
“We were sent to retrieve and train you. We need your help. Tenari,” Nyx says.
“Train? Tenari? What is that? What are you people exactly?” asks Ven.
Enishi sighs. “I’m going to briefly explain so please pay attention. The world that you came from, is not your home world. You were taken there as a child to protect you from the wielder of the Dragtagon. What you are Ven, is a Tenari. One of the last ones. Hell, probably THE last one. You are originally from Voltaria, the land of the fire Madokais, and because you are a fire Madokai, you belong to The House of Fire. People of that house possess the pyrokinetic ability to create and control fire. What makes you special is that as a Tenari, you come from a line of extremely powerful Madokais.”
Taken aback by what he just heard, Ven asks, “What? How could you possibly know that?”
Enishi points at Ven’s ears. “Those. Only Tenaris have ears like yours.”
Ven reaches for his ears and tugs them.
“So, you’re saying because of these things I’m special?”
“I’m not making this up," Enishi says sternly. “You are a Tenari and you are a fire Madokai.”
“Impossible. There is NO WAY that I can be a Madokai or whatever the hell you are saying. I have never in my life have had fire shooting abilities. Like ever.” Ven shakes his head in disbelief.
“You shot fire at me earlier. How did you think you ended up waking up in bed?” Nyx remarks.
Ven looks down at his shaking hands. “But how?”
“Your power has been dormant for years. Like I said, you were sent to the other world as a method of protection,” Enishi says.
“Protection from the Dragtagon wielder?” Ven asks.
Enishi nods.
“But why would I need protection from him?”
“As a Tenari, you are a threat. A big one. Tenaris were have thought to have been eradicated by the wielder and his followers. Your mother, Auroa, was not your actual mother. She was a mage. She took you to the other world where you wouldn’t be detected by the wielder, waiting until you became of age and then reached out to us, letting us know that you were ready.”
Ven sits down on the cold ground, gripping his necklace and starts to rock back and forth.
“So then where and who are my real parents?” He asks.
“Dead. Well, it’s safe to assume so,” Enishi replies and shrugs.
“My “mother” was a mage. Like a magician? This is unreal.”
“I understand that this is a lot for you to take in and understand but-“
“A LOT!? A LOT?!” Ven explodes, cutting Enishi off. “I just watched my mother die! I’ve been transported to this, this WORLD, I can shoot fire from the palms of my hands, and three weirdos are telling me that I’m not who I ever thought I was and that they need ME to save them from some wielder of some strange power and save the WORLD?!” Ven huffs and puffs.
Ven gets quiet and tears start to fall from his eyes. “I just… want to go home.”
“I’m not a weirdo. That was rude,” Nyx mumbles.
Enishi rolls his eyes at him and replies, “You can’t just go home. There is no home for you to go to.”
Ven glares at Enishi. “There is nothing left for you back there. The only thing for you is right in-front of you. This is where you belong.”
Ven continues to sulk and Enishi lets him.
