Saito and Mitsuru were mad at Akiya, but also felt guilty, because they left him and Masashi in such a dangerous situation. And Akiya finally admitted that Megumi turned him into a vampire. And that he was the one, who killed her.
Kawakami had been walking in the moonlight and got so lost in thoughts that he didn't notice, when someone tied him with antivampire net. Again.
He looked up. He saw a young conqueror, who was standing there with a stake in his hand.
This youngster had orange eyes and messy blonde hair. He wasn't tall, but he wasn't short too. Just a slim man with average height and chubby face.
"If I'll eliminate you, I'm finally gonna become a White Cloud" said the conqueror and wanted to stab Akiya, but someone stopped him.
Someone, who three years ago became a Navy Cloud and now he's one of the best conquerors. Someone no one would expect can do that.
"You're making a mistake, Akihide" growled Kousuke, holding Akihide's hand, where the stake rested.
He pushed him away and freed the vampire.
"But Kousuke-san, what are you doing?" asked Akhide.
Kousuke glared at him.
"You know, Akihide, I released an innocent vampire" he replied. "We're even, Akiya. Now I saved you."
"Thank you" Akiya smiled slightly.
"So listen, you little murderer. Those vampires whose footsteps can be heard have a conscience and must not be killed" announced Kousuke. "And more than this, you raised your hand against Akiya, who is more human than half of humanity. That's why you'll get the worst punishment."
"You're not talking about training with Hirano-san, are you?" Akihide looked at Kousuke, terrified.
"Yes, I am" Kousuke smiled brightly. "I'm sorry, Akiya. He's still young, still learning. He didn't know."
"It's okay" replied Akiya.
"We're going back to the Shelter, Akihide" said Kousuke. "See you later, Akiya."
"See you later" Akiya waved him goodbye.
Kousuke disappeared around the corner.
Kawakami streched lazily and came back to "Yoru". When he walked to his room, he saw Masashi, who was laying on Akiya's bed and reading a letter to Kaoru, which he once wrote.
"What are you doing, Masashi?" asked Akiya.
"Reading" replied Masashi, not even stopping.
"I was just bored back then" said Akiya, smiling slightly.
Masashi looked up at him.
"Bored?"
"Yeah, I wrote it, when I was bored. Five years ago, I think" replied Akiya. "I wanted somehow to tell Kaoru, what happened. Even if his soul doesn't exist anymore."
"So, do you care about me?" asked Masashi.
"We're friends, right?" Akiya shrugged. "And now you should leave my bed."
"No" replied Masashi and laid down on the bed. "It's comfy."
"If you don't come down, I'll push you off. And it's going to hurt" Akiya threatened him.
"Yeah, sure" Masashi crossed his legs and closed his eyes.
At one point he felt the bed lifted and a moment later he was already flattened on the floor.
"I warned you" said Akiya, still holding two legs of the bed. "My bed, not yours."
"But why?" asked Masashi resentfully. "Can't I stay here?"
"Don't act like a child" said Akiya, taking out pajamas from his wardrobe. "I'm going to the bathroom. I suggest going to sleep. Before sun will rise."
Masashi nodded. He shared a room with Akiya now. Sakamo said that he would move into Yuji and Ikari's room. He probably got along with them better. Or maybe he didn't know, how to talk with Masashi.
It's not that they didn't like each other. But even when they were still conquerors, their relationship that was as rigid as vampires' without a conscience with their victim, after they have had their stomachs already filled.
He slipped under the covers and closed his eyes. Akiya returned in a moment and also went to bed. They both fell asleep after a while, though they couldn't dream.
