 Rin

"Wow, I can't get over how big this place is!! I'm afraid to touch anything. Anon, where is your room?" I ask as we walk up to the second floor.

"I stay in the room across from Jay's." Anon seems irritated.

"How long have you worked for the prince?" I ask, trying to keep the conversation going.

"I have worked for him since I graduated college, so about five years. I've known him since elementary school. He was a little prick even back then. I was the only friend he had for a long time. Being a prince has its disadvantages. Everyone was too afraid of him. I wasn't. My family has always been close to the royal family. I chose to be his valet because I don't trust anyone else to be close to him. I have witnessed too many people try to hurt him." Anon clearly said all that as a show of loyalty and his distrust in me.

"Look, I know you have no reason to trust me, so I won't try to convince you. I will prove it with my actions." I say as we reach the top of the stairs.

Anon remains quiet.

We kept walking down the hall and stopped in front of a closed door.

"There are three r0oms that are off limits to everyone. At each end of the second floor, there is a small set of stairs that leads to a bedroom. Those are off-limits. This one is the other one. The room at the end of the north hallway is the king's. It's self-explanatory why you can't enter that room. The other one is the late Queen's, and this one is Prince Kista's. Any questions?" Anon says with a stern look.

"No, I understand," I say. We walk a little farther and stop in front of another closed door.

"This will be your room. The room to the left is Jay's, and that one across from it is mine. This used to be Jay's old playroom, so right now, it's empty. I will have everything set up for you by tomorrow."

Anon opens the door and closes it after I take a glance. It's a big room. This was his playroom? That's ridiculous! The royals have it all.

"I will have a contract draft made tomorrow so we can make things official. Jay said that your only condition was to help find out about your past and help get your memory back. That is something that I won't be adding to the official contract, but I will have an agreement made for the two of you. Now that I have gotten my professional duties out of the way, I am going to say my peace." Anon's demeanor changes instantly.

It sends chills down my spine.

"I don't like you. I don't like that Jay has become close to you for no apparent reason. Your behavior doesn't match the situation you are in. You are clearly hiding something from not just us but Parker as well. You being able to hold your own against men twice your size is unfathomable. I will be watching your every move. The minute you screw up, I will be the first one to show you the door. You being here is only making my job harder. Honestly, I wish I never helped you. I let my guilt dictate my actions, and I shouldn't have. I can see your worth, and I can tell you now once the prince is bored of you, he will throw you away. Just like the piece of trash, you are. Don't get used to being here. No one ever sticks around." Anon leaned in with each sentence he spoke, and now he was whispering in my ear.

"You won't be able to hide behind your fake memory loss for long. Jay is too smart to be fooled by you."

After Anon's degrading rant, I found myself at a loss for words. I don't honestly know how to react. I can't say anything because everything he said was true. I am hiding something from them. However, It's not like I can tell them the truth. They wouldn't believe I was from another world and that I died and became Rin. I would be a fool to tell the truth. I would be put in the psych ward. I don't have a lot of options. I thought having the prince on my side was a pro, but being on Anon's radar is a huge con. I can't let my guard down while I work for Jay. It could mean some dire shit. I don't know what to say to Anon, but before I can figure it out, Jay pops out of nowhere. Anon is visibly flustered. I decided to keep my head down. Anything I say right now will give away my emotions. Jay seems to bring my feelings out. I can't hide them from him. I wonder why? All I know is that living here is going to be a real hassle.

Rin Grace lived an ordinary, unremarkable life—until a heated argument sent him stumbling backward into oncoming traffic. A car struck him with brutal force, leaving Rin unconscious.

At that very exact moment, in another world entirely, Misha Minari—an elite assassin feared in the underworld—was staring death in the face. A mission gone wrong ended with a bullet tearing through his chest, and darkness swallowed him whole.

But death wasn’t the end.

Misha awoke to the sterile smell of antiseptic and the blinding glare of hospital lights. Disoriented and aching, he scanned the room just in time to see a handsome, aristocratic man rise from a chair.

“You seem to be fine. Next time, don’t run out in front of my car. I’ll handle the bill. Take care, Mr. Grace,” the man said coldly before leaving.

That man was Jay Fenrick—the Crown Prince.

Confusion turned to panic as Misha realized nothing made sense: he wasn’t shot, he wasn’t in his world, and according to the nurse, he wasn’t even Misha Minari. He was Rin Grace.

A single look in the mirror confirmed the impossible—he was in a new body, a stranger’s face staring back at him.

Now trapped in Rin’s life, Misha must navigate a world of nobles, politics, and the Crown Prince he’s apparently employed to protect. But two questions haunt him:

What happened to the real Rin Grace?
And how did a dead assassin end up as the Crown Prince’s personal bodyguard?

Misha will have to uncover the truth behind their fates—before someone notices that Rin Grace isn’t Rin Grace anymore.
