With that thought in mind, he headed out to meet Alex at the bar. As he walked through the streets of Capitol Hill, he felt a sense of nostalgia. This was where he had spent most of his time when he was with his ex-boyfriend, and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of pain as he passed by their old haunts.
But when he saw Alex waiting for him at the bar, all of those feelings melted away. Alex was one of his closest friends, and he always knew how to make him laugh.
They ordered drinks and settled in at a table near the window. As they chatted and caught up on each other's lives, Adam couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort. This was where he belonged, with his friends, in the city that he loved.
As the night wore on and the drinks flowed, Adam started to feel more and more relaxed. He laughed at Alex's jokes and told him stories about work and his latest coding projects.
But just as they were finishing up their drinks, something caught Adam's eye. It was the stranger in the leather jacket, walking down the street outside the bar.
Adam's heart skipped a beat as he watched the man disappear out of sight. He turned to Alex, feeling a sense of urgency.
"Hey, do you want to go for a walk?" he asked.
Alex looked at him quizzically. "Now?"
Adam nodded. "Yeah, I just need to clear my head for a bit. Do you want to come with me?"
Alex shrugged. "Sure, why not?"
As they stepped out onto the sidewalk, Adam scanned the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of the stranger in the leather jacket. But there was no sign of him.
They walked in silence for a few minutes, and then Alex spoke up. "So, is everything okay? You seem kind of...distracted."
