9-All alone with the crush
Nick's pov
And I'm back in school after everything that happened last night.
"Nick! There you are!"
Of course, they spot me immediately but argh why does Aaron have to yell that early in the morning? Argh, my head. I try to massage my head. Yeah, I'm still hungover, I guess and of course, that's the first thing they ask me.
"Sh*t you're still hangover? How much did you drink? I don't remember you drinking a lot."
"Just some booze. Was it a strong one?"
"Yeah..." Leo smiles feeling sorry I guess.
"Ugh, seriously guys? You could've told me."
"You were so into it, we didn't want to bother you." Dominic smirks. Oh, that bastard.
"So, what happened between Taylor and you?" Aaron asks teasing me. Sh*t, what should I say? They think I hooked up with her right?
"It was fun."
"Fun? No details bro? Boring.."
"You can get all the information from your girlfriend."
"Dom! Argh you're so annoying!"
"That's fair game. So you won't bother telling us about you and Taylor?"
"Nah, it's not that interesting anyways."
"Hmm, sure"
They quickly change the discussion thankfully, the girls later arrive. As soon as Taylor arrives, she gives me a look of sympathy, I smile back. It feels great that she not only supports me but shows it too.
"Hey, Taylor! Had fun yesterday?" She blushes hard. Gosh, when will they learn to stop teasing her?
Taylor Cassidy. Yeah, I heard her last name before. She's dare I say cute when she blushes but the one I find cuter isn't reserved for her. She has long blond hair wavy too that she lets loose with beautiful locks. She has brown hair too.
She is quite small but she's actually closer to the average than others may think. She stands at a 5.3 ft. Though she's the perfect size for a girlfriend, I'm sure other guys think so.
Regardless I doubt she'd be my type if I liked girls. It's not her pretty brown eyes that bother me. I did like a brown-eyed boy in the past. It's the blond hair for me. Blondies have never been my type. Don't mind brunets. I'd say appearance wise it's more of an Ezra type that is my type.
I'm quickly put back in place once I realize which situation I'm in where right now.
"Um..."
"Come on guys stop picking on her." Oh, thank god the girls have some brains. Classic Sydney.
Still don't get how she deals with Aaron the opposite of her.
"Sorry.." Aaron fakes a pout. What the hell am I witnessing?
"Stop that face Aaron, it's cringey. I wouldn't fall for that if I were you Sydney." Maryka to the rescue.
As much as she says such things like that, those aren't even a thing in her country. I still don't believe her. It's a nerd thing or Maryka thing or something.
You wouldn't be able to tell that Maryka is from Poland, except for her accent and name.
Ok, maybe the fact she is tall for a girl, standing at 5.7 ft but other than that, not really.
She has mid-length natural caramel hair like most girls I know and brown eyes but she got those menacing eyes and menacing aura too. The cat eyes too. So she's not very approachable. Don't mess with her, that's for sure.
I met her a year ago. Dominic never mentioned if he had a girlfriend or whatever. Then one day I caught them kissing in the library when I had to study. So she's been a part of the gang ever since then.
Back to what's going on.
"Yeah, stop making that face."
While for Sydney, you can't really tell she's foreign too. She's not from Europe or Asia but more Australia. She told us once that she moved here when she was 4 years old for her dad's job. It's a typical story everyone moves to L.A for that same reason.
You can't tell she's not American too because she has short milk chocolate brown hair and blue eyes. I've seen that around a lot. The fact she has glasses and manages to put her hair into a ponytail is less common.
She's pretty tall for a girl just like Maryka, nearly as tall as her, standing at 5.6 ft. She isn't made in a small format either. I'm sure she could fight if she had to.
She's pretty I can say that but because she's a nerd, just like Maryka, it takes the charm out of her really.
They are both so similar I totally get why those two are besties.
I met her a few months ago. At a party, we gave Aaron the dare to seduce her. We never thought it would work as she was a nerd after all. To our surprise, they really became a thing. So Aaron forced her to be a part of our gang ever since then.
Back to real life.
"Oh, not fair..."
"That's life buddy." Dom pats Aaron's shoulder.
"What are you guys talking about?"
Livia...why did she have to come here? I missed the times when I didn't need to see that honey blond-haired girl. I certainly don't miss her form last night.
"Not a lot actually."
Sydney suddenly decides to speak up. Yeah, upon seeing her a little mad, I remember she actually doesn't like Livia.
"Really? From where I was it seemed real interesting."
Livia tries to challenge Sydney. Instead, Maryka speaks up for her.
"Piss off Finnigan. We don't always have something interesting to talk around that doesn't concern you."
We all look at Maryka surprised at the comment. Oh, Livia is mad!
"What did you just say to my girlfriend? What's your problem with you girls today?" Oh, Leo is being a possessive boyfriend.
"Nothing, nothing, your girl just got some attitude going for her," Maryka says.
"Yeah," Sydney agrees too.
"Ugh, I don't have an attitude."
"Stop it, you guys. It isn't going anywhere. We have to get to class anyways."
Dominic speaks up. He better because I'm tired of this sh*tty drama. The girls glare back at him, Maryka a bit less.
"Fine"
Finally, I can get away from this even if it means classes in return.
———————
At least after that drama yesterday, the girls didn't pick up where they left off. I think Dominic talked to Maryka about it. I'm glad he did because it was annoying!
Besides that, what kept me interested yesterday and today too, is that suddenly I noticed that Ezra keeps looking at me.
Does he never look at me? Did Felix finally talk about me to him? Did he get him to be interested in me? Does he have the hots for me?
Omg, all of this is making me so excited and also nervous! I can't really tell if he's looking at me with growing interest. I did see him talking to Felix yesterday but that's it.
Damn, I really wonder what Felix said about me to make Ezra finally notice me. He might've noticed me but not for who I am. Is it too much to ask? Ugh, I can't wait for the school day to end so I can ask Felix about it!
——————-
As soon as I arrived home I asked Felix about the Ezra situation.
As I was curious he told me some of what he told Ezra about me. Something about basic stuff.
What I find interesting is the fact he tried convincing him that I'm really not like the other guys on the basketball team. Also that the harassment is not my intention and I'm deep down against it but can't do anything.
I'm glad he said that because he said Ezra wants me to prove it to him. That means he's at least a bit interested in me! The downside is that he has a hard time believing all that it seems like.
I really hope I'll be able to prove to him I'm not like the other guys in the gang!
Anyways we talked about the guy from yesterday that was with Ezra at the party only to realize nothing is going on between them.
At least as I wanted to see Ezra again with all this information, Felix gave me Ezra's work schedule. Curse the fact he has his number. I still won't accept the fact they might become friends with open arms. I liked Ezra first.
After that, our sister, Allyson came to bother us. That created a deal for me to drop her off on a date. I have to meet that boyfriend of hers soon, I swear.

I park my car and enter the supermarket, knowing damn well why I'm here on a Saturday of all days.
At least it isn't getting dark out as early as before. It's starting to be dark out but the sun is still there. Soon enough the sun will set.
Actually, I think I remember Felix mentioning that we are advancing our clocks tonight. Oh lol, what a weird thing to remember.
As soon as I get in I recognize Ezra at the checkout. I walk in the direction of the checkout and position myself right in front of him. As usual, there aren't a lot of people in the store. It's pretty much empty.
"Hey," I smirk and Ezra looks back at me, unamused.
"What? I'm busy working."
"Hm, I know that but," I check my phone despite knowing damn well what time it is.
"It's past 5 pm already, you're off the clock."
"Argh..you won't give up will you?"
"Nope"
As requested he goes change out of his uniform and comes back.
"So, what brings Nickolas Breckner to a supermarket on a Saturday close to dinner time?"
"A chance to talk to you."
"As if I didn't know that. What do you want? I'm sure you have better things to do, prat." He's insulting me?! I try to avoid glaring at him.
"What is so difficult to understand that I want to hang out with you?"
"Oh, come on don't get your knickers in a twist. Seriously though you didn't say that earlier. Besides, when did I say I don't want to hang out with you?"
"Um, it's pretty obvious you don't?" He rolls his eyes.
"Well you're right on that but if you insist on hanging out with me.." He smirks.
"I have nothing to do. Besides I would rather spend time with you than those guys."
"You sure you want to be near an uphill gardener?" What?
"What does that mean?"
"Gay, you wanker."
"What? Oh...you think I'm homophobic..."
"Oh, so you're not? Hmm..."
"I don't mind gay people, those guys do."
"Oh, really? That's smashing! So, you don't mind if I touch you?" Is he teasing me right now?
"N...no" I stutter.
He comes closer and touches my shoulder. I blush at his action, god this is so awkward... Then he finally stops making my brain go crazy.
"You're quite fit." He smiles.
Ah, gosh, he's making me nervous. I can't be confident around him if he acts like that around me. Instead, I try to focus on his smaller height.
"Thanks..."
"Don't back up on me now." He still smiles. Seeing Ezra smiling at me...gosh it's too much.
"I'm not!"
"Hm, sure, I'll take you up on your offer. So where are you bringing me?"
"I don't know.."
"Oh, so you thought I would ignore you?"
Damn does he have to know everything, be honest and direct too? I'm definitely not used to this. Didn't think he was like that but he's only drowning me in thoughts...
"What...?" He pokes my shoulder and looks like he's analyzing...
"You definitely were thinking that! Oh, you silly berk. Today is your lucky day because I'm letting you be with me."
"Ah...ok"
Ugh, why am I stuttering? I'm usually so confident. Where did all my confidence leave at?
"All shy? Why's that?"
He continues poking my shoulder. Thank god he's not touching somewhere else.
"Nothing.." He looks at me skeptically.
"The guys told you to do a dare?"
"What the f**k no!" He smiles.
"Don't worry, I'm just teasing you. I already know this is not a dare." I leave a breath I didn't think I was holding in.
"Gosh.."
"Hm, it's pretty late. I'm getting hungry."
Oh gosh is Ezra normally such a handful? I didn't think I was getting myself into this.
"I'll bring you to a burger place. You like burgers?"
"Boring, but yeah it'll do." Boring?
"Ok, I got my car."
"Let me give a ring to my mom. She thinks I'm coming home right after work."
He still calls his mom to let her know about that? Damn, when was the last time I did that with my parents?
"Done, let's go." We walk in the direction of my car.
"Nice car you got there. It's quite posh innit?"
"Yeah...thanks..."
What's with all the compliments? Does he really think all those things or is this an act?
We get in my car and we leave the parking lot.
"I only realized now but your British right?"
"Oh yeah, I am."
"From where?"
"Wales" Oh that's cool.
It's silent for a while before the conversation picks up again.
"What are you ordering?" That question takes me by surprise after all this silence.
"A smile burger and fries."
"What kind through?"
"Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and ketchup."
"Oh, how basic." Is he complaining about me?
"Oh.."
It remains silent in the car for a little bit before we arrive.
We get out the door, and that's when I remember I'm with Ezra not with my friends.
"Walk behind me."
"Why?"
"They can't see me with you."
"Who? Your friends aren't even there. Are you ashamed of being seen with me? I'll be off then."
"No! Don't!"
"Then I'll walk next to you."
I look at him and then look at his outfit. He's wearing a crop top that legit says he's gay, and he has baggy pants on. He also has a fake chocker too. Damnit, everyone will think we are dating. They'll think we are both gay, even if I want that...they can't know.
"What? Oh, my outfit. Does it bother you that much that it says I'm gay?"
"What!? No! It's not that..."
"You don't want to be associated with me."
"No! I don't mind!"
"Then what Nick?! Stop being such a prat! It's annoying!" He's calling me Nick...
I don't know why but I feel this strong urge to tell him I'm gay.
"I'm gay..." He looks dumbfounded to hear what I said and I am to be honest.
"You're gay? Geez, you really don't look gay."
"Should I look gay...?"
"No...but those girls..."
"I'm serious I'm gay."
"Ok, ok, I get it you are so...you're in the closet obviously?"
"Yeah..."
"Crazy to think you're with a gang full of homophobic tossers but you're actually gay."
He laughs. I glare at him. He has to understand this is serious.
"Look no one in there knows about us, I think you forgot we live in L.A. They are all skivers, they don't care who's gay and who's not. So let's go in." I want to add something but I figure that he won't even listen to me anyways.
"If it's the thought of being outed that scares you, don't worry, they won't doubt it. They are twits after all. You don't look the ounce gay."
"Thanks..."
"Now come on! I'm hungry." Am I really gonna do this?
We get into the classic restaurant and we choose a table to sit at. A few people look at us but they mostly don't care. They are mostly busy about their business. I guess he was kinda right in a sense...
Regardless, we argue about who's ordering and Ezra won the arguement. Ugh...
So, he orders and a few minutes later, he comes to sit down with our order and then we start eating. Through, a question that's been circling my mind bothers me a lot.
"Hey, Ezra?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do you go to the basketball games?" He looks at me as if I were dumb. I don't like that...
"I go for the thrill."
"The thrill really?"
"Oh, you were hoping I went there for you? Disappointed?" He smirks.
"No..."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that."
"It's not my fault! The guys always think you're there because you like them or something!"
"As if I ever will. They are so dodgy and also gits."
"What does that mean?"
"I believe it's dumb and shady?"
"Yeah, you're right in that one." We actually laugh together.
After all, we spend a good time together. I thought telling him I'm gay would be the biggest mistake ever but I think it brought us closer. Well, he surely didn't question me as much. It surely wasn't bad for my first time all alone with my crush.
It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I totally get why I'm attracted to him. I really want to do it again. I hope this wasn't a one-time thing...
