Luna cleared her throat and looked Mark dead in the eyes as he gulped a little, knowing that this explanation would be highly intense.
“What you and many others have probably been calling these newfound superpowers are far from what they really are. Yes, they are supernatural abilities seen in movies or comics but these powers are much more dangerous and powerful if truly mastered and given to the right person.”
“These quote-on-quote superpowers stem from a mysterious source of energy in the universe that flows through almost every living thing. Planets, people, plants, even otherworldly creatures.”
“This energy is called Galaxy Energy or G.E. for short its origin isn’t fully known but the people that can genuinely harness it and have a good knowledge of their abilities have a theory. They say that the source of Galaxy Energy started from the very start of the universe also known as the Big Bang. "
“They believe that leftover particles and beings of space dust have been collected inside our bodies and if you have a generous amount you can use it to obtain supernatural abilities.” For you humans, you usually don’t have a high capacity of Galaxy Energy so you live your lives as usual, but thanks to someone.”
She pointed at Mark.”That's you by the way. The outward burst of collective Galaxy Energy caused a chain reaction of people gaining the ability to use Galaxy Energy as it generally intended for other species in the universe.”
“I came here because my brother wanted me to ask you about this incident. It was mainly because he was bored and curious, but it was probably something more. I'm guessing he thought you would’ve known more about what you were doing. Well, that's kind of a lie, he probably didn't think that. He probably thinks you’d be useful in the long run if anything.”
“So that's essentially what Galaxy Energy is but there's one more part to it which is called an Awakening. Awakenings are basically the result of mastering your power to a certain extent. Once this happens you can achieve the power of an awakening and 1 of 3 things can happen.”
“One you can be a Transformation-type awakening giving you the ability to gain an absurd amount of power with barely any drawbacks. This usually is symbolized by a physical change such as power speed or even appearance however not that substantial.”
“Two, Mutation-type awakening which is what I am. A mutation changes not only your appearance but also your genetic code as well. You can take me as an example not only my appearance changes but my DNA as well giving me wolf biology basically. Mutations could be anything if you put your mind to it and the results can be devastating if you used them wrong. Or devastating but beneficial for the user.”
“The final type of Awakening is called Conjuration. You can basically infuse your ability onto nonliving things. Let's say your awakening was a Conjuration type you could basically infuse your Galaxy Energy on the earth and turn the entire thing into ice. This is different than just inflicting ice effects on the ground though it takes place on a wider scale and costs no Galaxy Energy in the long run. This makes conjuration a very unpredictable awakening type. So yeah other than that's basically all you need to know”
Mark's eyes were spinning as he was trying to keep up. “Man, that's a lot of stuff to remember. Also, I still don’t understand what you mean by “you humans” . It makes you sound kinda weird by the way.” He chuckled awkwardly.
Luna sighed and looked at Mark once more. “You see the thing is my brother and me.”
We aren’t from this planet.
Mark raised an eyebrow as he looked at Luna in confusion. “Who is what now? What do you mean you’re not from this planet.”
“Jeez, you catch on slow. Did you really not question me knowing so much about Galaxy Energy? There's no way I'm just a regular human. My brother and I come from a planet many star systems away. So when I say “you humans,” I say that because I’m not originally from this planet. That's what I mean.”
“All things aside you’re pretty cute for an alien chick.” He chuckled while blushing. “Wait, you won't turn into a 3 headed monster and plant eggs inside of me right?”
Luna's face lit up with rage and embarrassment as Mark flinched in fear. “NO YOU IDIOT I'M NOT THAT KIND OF ALIEN AND I TOLD YOU BEFORE TO STOP CALLING ME CUTE YOU CREEP!” Luna grumbled and folded her arms as she glared at Mark with rage.
“Sorry! Sorry! I was just making sure haha…But for real you’re not going to do that right?”
“No, you idiot.” Luna said.
“Phew. That's a relief. Anyways how come you and your brother are on earth? Mars or any other planet is probably way cooler than here for a vacation.”
“We’re not on vacation and I’m not answering why we’re here so don’t even bother asking again, so besides that do you have any other non-idiotic questions?”
“Do you have any extra appendages?”
“Okay, that's not idiotic more like weird so I’m not even gonna entertain that. Anything else? Literally anything else?”
“Oh yeah! What about helping me learn how to be a real hero? That was a part of the deal too!”
“That can easily be arranged. I’ve personally never worn a mask or a cape or anything but if you want to learn how to stop evil and learn how to master your powers I can help. Well, we can help. My brother and I. That is what I mean. We have a place it isn't the best but you can train there in the meantime.”
Mark got up with an eager smile. “If training my powers is the first step to becoming a hero then I’ll do it! I’ll get super tough so that I’m able to master my powers and achieve that Awakening thing in no time! So when do we start uh Luna? Also, I forgot to mention I like that name I think it-”
“Do not say that's a cute name or you’re gonna get slugged.” Luna said with a grumble
Mark stopped mid-sentence and nodded slowly in understanding. “Anyways, where is this place you and your brother have? I want to get started training immediately. It’ll be just like an anime where the hero goes on a vigorous training journey and gets super overpowered at the end and stomps the main villain!”
“The only difference is this is real life, you’re super incompetent and you have no main villain to fight.”
“Not yet! Think about it heroes always attract villains so I might gain a few!”
“I see self-awareness isn’t one of your abilities. You know you also have to be strong mentally to be a hero, not just physically. You’re lacking in both departments currently, but it's whatever for now.”
Luna took her phone out of her pocket and typed on it as it buzzed. “Here type this location into your GPS and meet me there tomorrow around this same time, and make sure nobody sees you got it? I mean nobody. Zip. Zero.”
Mark nodded as Luna jumped up on top of a pile of junk. “So that location at the same time. You’ll be there right?” He yelled to Luna.
“Yeah, I’ll be there. See ya later Meteor Boy.” She said mockingly as she jumped away and ran into the distance.
“Today was so strange but also kind of exciting.” He picked up his backpack and thought to himself. “Does this still count as a date or not? I guess not but still, I never talked to a girl this long in my life before! “
“Granted it was about weird space energy but still! She may be an alien and can turn into a weird werewolf but she's super cute and totally my type! Yeah, she's kinda sassy but I think I like that too! Now that I’m going to be doing the training I’ll buff up and she’ll be all over me! Hahahaha!” He put his hands on his hips and laughed confidently to himself. “Oh yeah, I should get home moms making dinner tonight!”
Mark said as he ran into the distance with a look of glee and excitement on his face.
It was the next day as Mark was flying through the air with his bandanna around his face like normal as he looked down towards the earth.
“This is it. I really hope it is anyway.” Mark slowly hovered down as he landed and was standing in front of a giant abandoned warehouse many miles away from the typical cities and streets.
“Uh?” He looked at the warehouse door that was locked with an old rusty chain. “I could break these chains with my powers but I guess I should knock.” He knocked on the large door of the warehouse as he heard rustling inside as the door opened slightly.
“Hello-WOAH!” Mark was suddenly dragged inside the warehouse as it was so dark he could barely see. “What the heck- AH!” Mark jumped back as a boy taller than him with spiked blonde hair and dark shades was standing next to him.
“Yo.” He raised his hand up slightly as Mark was still in his shocked pose. “You’re the Meteor Boy kid Lulu told me about huh?” He pulled his phone out of his pocket and shined the flashlight in Mark's face.
“Lulu? Do you mean Luna? Wait, does that mean you’re her older brother?” He said as he tried to cover his eyes from the light as the boy observed his entire being.
“Yeah I mean Luna, and I am her older brother even though it's only by a year, so you should listen to what I say since I’m an older kid. Man, it's amazing seeing you in person you really are as scrawny as I thought.” He got behind Mark and untied his bandanna as Mark quickly retired it,
“Hey what's the matter with you!” Mark swiped his hand at the boy as he moved quickly and untied Mark's bandanna again exposing his whole face. “What the heck!”
“Ah, so that's what you look like. Man, you got a baby face just like my kid sister.” He said as he smirked. “Hm. Well.” He jumped over to the top of a pile of crates and hit a light switch as the warehouse lit up. “You got a whole lot to learn, kid, especially about your whole secret identity.” The boy said as he swung Mark's bandanna around.
“Heh” Mark let out a smirk as he flashed into the air trying to snatch the bandanna from the boy.
WHAM
A mysterious glove-like object was now formed around the boy's hand as Mark got socked in the face and sent crashing down into the ground. Mark rubbed his head as the boy leaped over to Mark and pinned him down. The boy leaned towards his face and smirked confidently.
“Boys I think that's enough,” Luna said as she walked out of a side door while folding her arms. “Come on bro you know better than to hassle him. If I could beat him while holding back then so could you if you went all out.”
“Hey it was a tie by the way!” Mark said with an annoyed tone.
“Whatever,” Luna said while rolling her eyes.
“Sorry, Lulu I got carried away for a bit.” He smiled as he brought Mark to his feet and retired his bandanna around his face. “Lulu go set everything up in the other room we’ll be there in a sec ima talk to the kid.”
“Fine, and stop calling me that!” She walked away grumpily as her brother chuckled on her way out.
“Don’t mind my sister, she's always been sassy even more so now that she's becoming a teenager. Anyways I’m sorry about the rude introduction, and to answer your previous question I am Luna's brother.”
“So you are her brother huh I thought you’d be more uh.” He pointed to his own face. “Ya know.”
“Lunas my step sister by the way. I had a feeling she didn't tell you that. She's not really that open with anyone other than me and the others.”
“The others?” Mark questioned.
“They’re not here currently but you’ll meet them later, but yeah Luna is harmless like a fly when you get to know her. She's really sweet too. She loves sweet things if you want to get on her good side by the way. Speaking of which.” He put his arm around Mark and smiled while looking at him. “What's your type? I mean with girls by the way”
“My type? Uh, this is random but uh. Probably umm let's see. A girl who's a bit shorter than me. I don't really like girls that tall. They scare me, to be honest. I like if she's nice and kind to people so nobody is rude. Let's see brown skin. Lemme see nice hair and good looking I guess? That sounds kinda basic or standard but yeah.”
The boy smirked a bit which turned into a full laughing fit. “Oh god. HAHAHAHA! I’m sorry I’m sorry. You know you almost described my sister down to a T right?”
Mark blushed as he waved his hands in front of him as the boy continued to giggle. “NO NO NO! THAT'S NOT IT! I JUST MET LUNA IT'S NOT LIKE I HAVE A CRUSH ON HER OR ANYTHING! I MEAN SHE IS MY TYPE BUT STILL! AND YOU'RE HER BROTHER I WOULDN’T ADMIT TO THAT IN FRONT OF YOU!-”
“Jeez jeez calm down I get it I’m just teasing. Also, a piece of advice, if you do, wanna date her you do have my permission. A little boyfriend would do her sassy behind some good and it would get her to open up. But you’d have to prove your worth to my sister ya got that. You see the scrawny weak-kneed dork loser you are right now?”
“Hurtful but I get it.” Mark nodded.
“Completely revamp yourself! You must be cool, selfless, strong, tough, and brave! Just a standup guy that any woman will swoon over! Also buy her sweets on the regular as gifts like I said! That's my advice for you! So you have my blessing.” He put his hand on Mark's shoulder and gave him a thumbs up.
“That's exactly why I wanna start training on the hero stuff immediately. Well not to date Luna but to be a model hero! I know she told you about that right? Also what's your name by the way?”
“The name Orion. Like the star constellation. I don't know if you noticed from my shirt and the design of my gauntlet when it clocked you in the face, stars are kind of my whole thing.”
“Orion? Can’t you think of a name that rolls off the tongue more? Look, I'm great at nicknames. How about Oreo? No, that doesn’t work. Rion? No, that doesn’t work how about just a regular name like Tom or something? That's a normal name for people on earth. Luna told me about the whole alien space thing by the way.”
“Tom? Hmmm. You know what it’s so stupid I actually kind of like it. It’s a nice but basic nickname. The same goes for you. You can be my little stupid pal, how's that?”
“I don't really like being called stupid either, but I'm fine with being friends. Also speaking of gauntlets, is that what you used to punch me in the face earlier?”
“Mhm.” Tom pointed to the golden wristbands on his arm and clenched his fists as the gauntlet he had earlier formed around it. “Cool huh?”
“WOAH!” His eyes sparkled as Tom made the gauntlet vanish and reappear repeatedly.
“Yeah, shape memory alloy is something I crafted myself. Modern scientists and inventors wish they were as smart as me huh?” He made the gauntlet vanish completely as he patted Mark on the back and stuck his hand out. “Me and you kid, we're gonna go places. Mainly you because I’m already at those places.” Tom said with a smirk.
“Hehe! I'm super excited when we start training!” Mark said impatiently.
“Uh. Let's see. We can honestly start right now if you want if Luna finished setting up the equipment that is.”
Luna knocked on the wall as she folded her arms and looked at the two boys. “It's done bro.”
“Well speak of the devil. Come on Meteor Boy I’ll show you the way.” Tom said as he walked forward.
“This is gonna be awesome, I'm so ready for this!” He said as he cracked his knuckles ready to go.
