THE DEPTHS

As they sank deep into the dark pit Nichole tried her best to hold back her tears, trying to shut off her feelings and complete the job. Despite the Captain’s objection she led the squadron as he stayed on the ship. Nichole closed her eyes, trying to calm her breath but could only think of memories. She remembered seeing the ad for the Crimson Vipers, How Thomas began Drinking, Leaving the house and going on Trips with no destination. She thought of how Thomas wouldn’t even speak to her, how she had lost the comfort of her home and how empty she felt inside. Finally, she thought of the day she left and how Thomas looked at her as she walked out the door.  “Commander! “One of her soldiers shouted at her, snapping her out of it. The captain was watching them on his monitor, 5 dots getting closer to the Mark. “T-minus 6 minutes to the Target “Suddenly his signal began to weaken “There’s something – “Nichole and her team continued downward, Suddenly they heard firing nearby, The darkness surrounding them “Stop! “She shouted towards the men. The soldiers pulled out their weapons surveying the area, A soldier came towards them “Soldier where is your unit! “Nichole shouted. The Soldier continued floating towards them they noticed a crack in his helmet and A creature latched onto it, A green scaly starfish with long talons digging into his skull.  “Commander what do we do?! “Before Nichole could respond One of her men was grabbed by an unknown entity pulling him into the darkness. The soldiers began firing around them as more and more being pulled into the dark “Up! Up! Retreat “One of her soldiers grabbed her arm “ARE YOU KIDDING ME! WE’RE THE CRIMSON VIPERS WE – “Nichole looked in fear at him. A Long black tentacle stabbed him in the chest “Ca- Captain “He whimpered before being dragged down below. More tentacles rose from the bottom ripping through her squad. Nichole panicking attempted to shoot them with no progress, Suddenly one came darting for her. Nichole used her jet pack to dodge left up, Another tentacle rose behind her Slapping her down below.  Nichole woke up Nothing but darkness around her. Her gun was gone, and the Air was so heavy she could barely walk.  She tried to trudge on her feet feeling like they were stuck in mud, Her foot hit something. Nichole shined her Light towards it, it was a body although the armor looked exactly like hers. As she got closer she noticed a crack in the helmet with A starfish with its talons in the skull. The body grabbed her Nichole screamed and kicked the Body away, A few lights shined around her. The body rose as the lights grew Brighter, suddenly more bodies rose from the Seafloor all of them in the same suits.Nichole tried to run as the bodies crept towards her arms open, she was surrounded. Nichole hyperventilating tried to calm her head, she felt a crack on the ground. Nichole raised her leg as far as she could, the corpses grew closer.   “I hope this works! “She yelled as she slammed her foot on the ground. The floor collapsed as she and the rest of the corpses sank further below.
