Alester looked at me confused. “Aarnav?” I looked at him. “Yeah, that’s his name.” He nodded. “I probably butchered it.” I smiled. “You did.” He sighed, and lit a cigar. That was something new. I was busy mending my stuff, when Alester soon spoke again. “How did you enjoy last night?” I looked up at him. “What?” He repeated himself. “I- Aha, it was nice learning how to dance.” He nodded his head, letting out a puff of smoke. “That’s good.” I looked back down at my work. “I’ve got a question. Did you already know how to dance, or do you just learn really quickly?” I looked back up, and sighed. “I already knew how to dance, I just need to be refreshed on it.” He nodded his head. “Alright. Well, I hope you’ll be able to join us for the winter party.” I nodded my head, and continued stitching up Finn’s glove. “Am I hindering you from working?” He asked after a little. “No, not really.” It was quiet again for a few minutes before he got up. “Do you want some tea?” I nodded my head, not responding. I had a thread between my teeth. I finished up Finnigan’s gloves by the time Alester got back. “Is Finnigan around?” Alester nodded. “Yes, he’s in the kitchen.”
I got up, and went to the kitchen. “Aarnav, I have your gloves.” He soon turned around, half a tangerine in his mouth. He took them, hugged me, and went back to eating his tangerine. I smiled at that. How good it would feel to have kids of my own, but I knew I can’t have them. I was soon sitting back down in my chair. “Thank you for the tea.” He nodded. “You’re welcome.” I took a sip of my tea, and set it back down before continuing. Winston and Nyx were zooming around in the living room, and Alester was reaching out for them, which made them go faster. I laughed at that and continued fixing what was in the basket. It was a range from light coats missing buttons, to rips in shirts and loose hems at the bottom of pants. I was finishing up the last shirt when Alester came over to me and patted my head. “What do you need?” I asked, looking up at him. “What do you want to eat?” I shrugged. “I’ll eat when I finish. I knew you guys have eaten.” He nodded his head. “Have you seen the dogs?” I shrugged. “I think Finn took them out.” He nodded his head again, and left the living room.
I liked the quiet atmosphere of the now empty living room, it created peace for me. Alester was back, and brought with him the two dogs. Nyx and Winston were fighting over a leaf, and Alester was trying to get the leaf away from them. I sewed the last button onto the shirt, folded it, and put it back in the basket. “Now, Mr. Gregerson, I think all of it is done now.” He started nodding, then stopped mid nod. “Mr. Gregerson? I thought I told you to call me Alester.” I laughed hard at that, and hoisted the basket against my hip so that I could go and drop all the stuff off. Once I was back, Alester looked at me, seeming eager. “How about we go and dance again?” I shook my head. “I’m too tired.” He frowned. “You were sitting all day.” I quickly tried another excuse. “I don’t feel good.” He sighed. “But you’re perfectly fine. No green around the gills.” I folded my arms. “I don’t want to.” He smiled. “Are you embarrassed?” I sighed. “Fine.”
We were in the ‘ballroom’ now, and he taught me a few more ‘modern’ dances. Basically just swing dances and stuff that goes to jazz incase we had it. “How do you feel?” He had asked once we finally stopped. “Out of breath.” He laughed. We both were breathing heavily from all the swing dancing, and it was too much for my dainty body. “How about we go get some water?” I nodded my head, gratefully. “And then i’m going to shower, and take a walk to see the bunnies that Mrs. Sergo got.” He looked at me confused. “Mrs. Sergo?” I nodded. “Mrs. Sergo, Mr. Sego’s wife. I used to live next door to her.” I watched his face dawn with realisation. “Oh! Mrs. Sergo! Ok, yes, I now know what you mean. Aren’t they going to sell the bunnies?” I nodded. “She wants me to help her, and I think she wants me to buy a few. They can either be pets or be eaten.” He nodded his head. “What would you want them as?” I frowned. “Well, I wouldn’t mind a bunny as a pet, but when it gets older and sick, I couldn’t bear to watch it die.” He frowned a little, thinking. “Well, we could eat it after a certain age..” I felt my eyes grow wide. “NO! I mean, no. Please, don’t do that.” He nodded again, and walked away.
I took care of myself, got dressed in a different outfit that wasn’t for work, and I went to Mrs. Sergo’s place. She greeted me happily like usual, and showed me to the bunnies. “This group is the eating group.” She motioned to the bunnies that we crowded around a head of lettuce. “And these, are the pet group.” She pointed to bigger, and more fluffy bunnies. I opened the gate, and stepped inside. “I was worried that it was a group of bunnies that were both pet and eat.” She laughed. “Oh no. We wouldn’t want that.” A smaller, grey bunny hopped over to me. “Hello there, little guy.” He hopped onto my shoe, and put his paws on my leg a little before tumbling backwards. I scooped him up, and looked at him. “Aww. I like you.” I whispered, and held him close to me. She smiled. “That is Little Grey Dust.” She said, and I nodded. “Dust..” I looked at the bunny as it snuggled into my arm. “Do you want him?” I nodded my head. “Ah, good. There is also a black one that I know no one will take. You can have him too.” I smiled, and she went to get the bunny for me. We soon had them in their little cage, and I got a few other things from the bakery before I got home.
Alester was sitting in the kitchen with Finn, Althea, Jeremy, and Pene. “What do you have there?” Jeremy asked, looking at the cage and the bag that I had stuff in. “I’ve got food for you guys, and the cage is for me.” He nodded his head. “Wait, why do you need a cage? You can’t fit in there.” I smiled. “No, not for me to fit inside, it’s for what I have in there. Winston’s now gonna be a big brother.” Jeremy rested his head on his arms that were folded on the table. “My head hurts now.” We all laughed, and I soon went up to my room. Winston was in there, laying on my bed. I set the crate down, and he went to eagerly smell it. “You like what you smell in there?” I asked him, rubbing his head. I knew he couldn't respond to me, so it didn’t matter. I gently opened the door to the crate, and Winston poked his head in. The rabbits sniffed his muzzle, and he sneezed causing them all to sneeze. I giggled, and soon my bedroom door opened a little. Finnigan poked his face in. “What do you need, Aarnav?” He smiled. “Can I see the bunnies?” I motioned him over and told him to close the door. “What are their names?” I frowned. “One is named, and the other one isn’t. The grey one is ‘Little Grey Dust’, but we can just call him Dust. And this one,” I held the little black bunny to me. “Doesn’t have a name.” He nodded. “How about… Nox? Because Nyx is already taken.” I smiled. “How do you like that, little one?” The bunny sneezed its approval.
