The second year, at the magic school, was focused on teamwork. The students were tasked with forming groups of five people of their choosing and work together on various projects and tasks throughout the year, leading up to a big team competition at the end of the year.
Rena had always been part of a team with her usual friends, but this year, she wanted a change. And after her loss to Pika, she started to admire him and his friends.
Rena approached Pika, who was sitting alone in the courtyard, studying his spellbook. "Hey Pika, can I join your team this year?" she asked.
Pika looked up from his book and smiled. "Of course, Rena. I would be glad to have you on my team."
Rena let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Pika. I didn't want to be on the same team as my usual friends. I think with us, last year finalist, there is nothing we can't accomplish."
As they were talking, a new transfer student walked up to them. She had short, blond hair, and her eyes were a bright shade of orange. "Hi, I'm Remi," she said, extending her hand.
Pika shook her hand. "I'm Pika, and this is Rena. What can we do for you?"
"I overheard you talking and I heard you were looking for a fifth member for your team," Remi said. "I'm a summoner, and I think I could be a valuable addition to your team."
Rena looked at Pika, unsure if they should trust this newcomer. "Do we really need an unknown member? With us in the team, we will have many of the best mages lining up to join."
"I think it will be more fun to have a someone new. Don't you think?" Pika replied.
Remi smiled, grateful for the opportunity. "Thank you so much. I promise I won't let you down."
Pika introduced Remi to the rest of the team, and they all got to know each other. They decided to call themselves team ElectroCute because Pika was made the leader and the naming was up to him.
As they were parting ways, Rena turned to Remi. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but where did you transfer from?"
"I transferred from a specialized magic school called Summoners School of Magic SSM," Remi replied. "It's a bit different from this one, but I think I'll like it here."
Rena nodded, feeling a bit more at ease with their new teammate.
The newly formed team, ElectroCute, was eager to prove their teamwork skills, and Pika was determined to make sure they worked well together. After discussing with the team, Pika suggested they have a team-building exercise to get to know each other better and work on their communication skills. "I think a game of capture the flag in the magic forest would be perfect, same as the final competition." Pika said, and the rest of the team agreed. They set a date for the next day, and everyone went to bed, excited to start the game.
The next day, they met up at the edge of the magic forest, where they were divided into two teams. Pika and Rena were on one team, and Max, Rayelle, and Remi were on the other. The forest was enchanted, and the players could use magic, but only in a limited capacity. The game was intense, and both teams were determined to win.
As the game started, Pika and Rena worked well together, using their spells to create distractions for their opponents. "I'm going to use a smoke spell to hide the flag," Pika whispered to Rena, who nodded in agreement. "And then you use your speed spell to get past their defenses," Pika continued.
On the other team, Max, Rayelle, and Remi were strategizing. "Rayelle, can you use your bunnies to create a wall of armed robots around our flag?" Max suggested, and Rayelle nodded. "And Remi, can you summon some more golems to help guard it?" Max continued, and Remi nodded, a determined look on her face.
The forest was filled with obstacles, and the players had to use their magic creatively to overcome them. Rena used her speed spell to dodge a blast from Max, who was working together with Remi to trap her. Meanwhile, Pika was using his thunder spell to create a thunderstorm, making it hard for anyone to get close to their flag.
The game was intense, and the teams were evenly matched. It went on for hours, with both teams determined to capture the other team's flag. In the end, Pika and Rena's team won, but it was a close match.
They all gathered around the campfire to celebrate and discuss their performance. "That was an amazing game," Pika said, grinning from ear to ear. "You all did an incredible job." The rest of the team nodded in agreement.
"I have to say, Remi, you were amazing out there," Max said, impressed with her summoning skills.
Remi blushed. "Thanks, Max. I learned a lot from my old school's summoning program."
"I noticed you have a different style of magic," Rena said, curious. "What makes summoning so special?"
"Well, it's not like any other type of magic," Remi explained. "With summoning, you can call forth creatures or spirits to fight for you. It requires a lot of preparation and knowledge, but the payoff is worth it."
The team continued to discuss their different strengths and weaknesses, learning more about each other's abilities. They all agreed that the game had helped them work better as a team and that they were ready for the challenges ahead.
As they were heading back to their dorms, Rena turned to Pika. "I have to admit, I wasn't sure about Remi at first, but she's really talented."
Pika nodded. "Yeah, I think she'll be a great asset to the team. And who knows, we might learn something new from her summoning skills."
