“Okay, before you scream hear us out.” The smaller girl quickly said as she backed out from Bela. “We will not hurt you, in fact, we just saved you from being sent into the void.” She continued, giving unsure looks to her companion. She was probably just exaggerating Being sent into the void, Bela though, a little taken back from her situation.
“What Emry is saying, is that we only want to help you.” The angel said, interrupting the first girl. “We found you unconscious in the woods and luckily you had only minor injuries.”
Bela took in the information and laid there in shocked silence as the two passed awkward looks to each other. She slowly crept out of her bed, balanced herself on unsteady feet and stared out the window. The sunlight jabbed at her eyes but through her blurry eyelids Bela could see a bustling road with people crowding the sidewalks, a market even more crowded with vendors and consumers, and in the distance, she could see girls dashing through the sky on raggedy brooms wearing pointed hats. Wait, that doesn’t sound right. Bela rubbed her eyes harder and eyed the girls again. They were still in the sky, riding brooms, dressing up like Kiki’s Delivery Service. Bela looked backwards and viewed the room she was in. It looked like a hospital room but not like ones that she’s familiar with. The room had a homey feeling and brown, floral curtains blew in the wind. The floor was wood, and lanterns loomed over the ceiling, a nurse passed by the door, but she was dressed in a white and green skirt and sported a small hat with a keychain trailing it as she pushed a cart through the narrow hallways.
“Um, is she okay?” Emry blurted out. Bela nearly forgot the two girls were there and were watching her. Despite the calm and cozy cottage-feeling, Bela only felt her rampant heart drumming a panicking song in her chest as she made a mad dash towards the exit. She didn’t even scream; everyone was already looking at her and she didn’t need any more attention. Her bare feet were thumping on the floor as she chased the end of every hallway until she threw herself into a door that led to a wide balcony.
“AAAAAAH!” Bela finally shrieked. What she expected to be a view looking out onto a busy street like earlier became a breathtaking view of the nothingness of the sunset sky. Clouds wandered past her as she stared down into a foggy abyss below her.
“Wait up!” A small yet loud voice echoed towards Bela as Emry and the mysterious girl caught up to her. In the light of the setting sun, Bela got a really good look at them now.
Emry was short, and so was her jet-black hair. She had an odd-looking accessory attached to her head and was dressed in a white, buttoned-up shirt which had pops of sunlight yellow here and there which contrasted her hair and shorts. The older girl, on the other hand, had long braided grey locks traced with a bright teal. Her angel wings ruffled and then settled into a messy nest of feathers as her flowy and simple dress fell downwards.
Bela didn’t have enough brainpower to do much at this point. In a breathless voice, all she could say was-
