“Maximus where were you last night, and what possessed you to demand our presence after worrying us all.” The man asked sternly 

“Well father it has come to my attention last night, after I was attacked, that I am a part of a prophecy. This prophecy seems to require me to do some traveling and I thought it best to ask permission first seeing as I am still technically a child.” Maximus replied calmly. Logan was very impressed on how professional Maximus sounded although his father didn’t look very impressed.

“Again with this prophecy nonsense as i told your mother 15 years ago there is no proof that this prophecy is real and though Lord Darklyn is a crude politician there is no proof he is an evil sorcerer. Besides you have to be here for your birthday party in a few days.”

“Maxi darling who is this young man, you haven’t introduced him yet.” The beautiful woman Logan can only assume is Maximus’ mother asked with a very soft voice. His fathers head darted toward Logan as if he hadn’t noticed him before his eyes narrowed and his chest puffed as he inspected the young boy.

“Yes, please introduce us to your new friend, son” his father added sternly

“This is Logan he saved me last night when I was attacked during my walk. He is another child from the prophecy.” Maximus replied sitting up even straighter.

“ You were attacked last night! What happened are you ok were you hurt? Who was it?” Mister Larrick bolted up leaning across the massive table to inspect his son worriedly. 

“Father I’m fine Logan saved me, for who it was it would seem it was Darklynn’s people. This is why I must leave as long as i stay still they will be able to find me. If I go with Logan to find the other kids then we stand a chance of stopping whatever Darklynn has planned.” Maxamus pleaded. His father slumped down back on the sofa looking utterly lost while his mother stared at him with her lips pursed and hands clutched tight in front of her.

“After your party we will discuss this further, if you leave before then it could cause problems for everyone. Logan can stay here with us for now.” Maxamus’ mother said with a strained voice.”Come my love let’s discuss this in private” she stood up looking down at her husband as we all gaped at her. Just as his father tried to speak his mother walked toward the door and called for a servant who quickly appeared before her.

“I want you to go to the inn and retrieve this young mans belongings and place them in the guest room beside Maxi’s. “ she commanded before leaving the room and heading down the hallway.

“We will discuss this later boys.” His father sputtered shooting Logan a look before hurrying after his wife. The boys sat in stunned silence as to servant came in with tea and snacks.

“What just happened?”Logan asked dumbfounded. Maximus just shrugged and began to eat the snacks.

“I don’t know but I’ll take it. We can take the time to gather some supplies and think of a better game plan if my parents don’t let me go” Maximus said. 

After the boys finished their snacks Maximus led Logan to their rooms. When Logan entered his jaw went slack from the sheer size of the guest room.

“My Gods this room is Bigger then the whole stable back home.” Logan exclaimed spinning around so as to take in the whole room. 

“Try out the bed. If you thought the one at the inn was comfortable this one will blow your mind.” Maximus chuckled enjoying the sight of Logan acting his age rather then pretending to be a know-it-all adult.

“Don’t mind if I do good sir.” he said with a bow before flopping wildly onto the mattress “By the Ancients this feels as though it could swallow me whole and then throw me back out for good measure.” Logan squeaked upon landing after bouncing several times causing Maximus to double over in laughter.

“Well then we should probably explore the estate some so you have at least some idea of how to get around during your stay we can talk as we go” Maximus heaved out wiping tears from his eyes.
