“Did you write that email to Sheryl last week like I asked?” Kevin asked, sitting with his bowl of cereal.

“Mhm,” Diane said, taking a bite of fruit.

“You wrote what I told you to, right?”

“Mhm.”

“Good, good… So if I call her, she’ll tell me she got it, right?” Diane nearly choked on her breakfast. “Actually,” he said, taking his phone out. “How about we give her a call right now just to be sure. She should’ve just gotten in, right?”

“No!” she shouted.

She reached for the phone but Kevin held it out of her range as he dialed. She ran around the table and tackled him to the floor to get the phone out of his hand, but he was just as stubborn, holding onto that phone for dear life as he hoped the call would go through before his wife could break it.

“Kevin, let go!!” Diane howled.

“No!”

“I’m not going back to that woman ever aga-”

“Diane?” asked a familiar voice through the phone. It was Sheryl.

“Oh um… hi Sheryl…” she said with a nervous laugh.

“Mhm, good to hear from you too. Let me guess, need a sooner appointment?”

Kevin shot her death glares. If she didn’t fess up and tell, she knew he definitely would later that morning.

“Heh, you know, that’s why we’re best friends, Sheryl. You know me so well…”

“I’m open next Wednesday at 3:20.”

“Sorry, I’m-”

“We’ll be there,” Kevin interrupted before Diane hung up.

“You’re the worst,” she growled, getting up and throwing the rest of her fruit and his cereal in the trash just to spite him.
