E: Insamal [Translation : Greetings]. Haven’t logged in a few days, as nothing noteworthy has come up. However, earlier today, I was taking a stroll through the foundation (In authorized areas only, of course.) when I came across an observation chamber that had the door left open. Which, by the way, is definitely a safety hazard, given what was in the testing room they were observing. In the adjacent testing chamber I could see SCP 173. It’s a fairly tall statue made of concrete and rebar, with some random stuff spray painted on it. I heard from Dr. Clef that it was the very first anomaly the Foundation got their hands on. SCP 173 must be looked at constantly. If someone’s close by, and they look away for even a second, even just blinking, 173 will move close to them and suddenly kill them, either by snapping the base of the skull or strangulation. First time I’ve ever seen it. I nearly walked into the observation chamber for a closer look, before I got ahold of myself and kept walking. However, seeing it reminded me of another very similar SCP I’ve heard of, but not seen. It’s known as SCP 689. 689 is supposedly a soapstone statue (Again, I haven’t seen it.). Once someone lays eyes on it, they must keep their attention on it. If their attention shifts away from it, even for just a moment, they’ll suddenly die from a variety of different methods, including but not limited to Cardiac Arrest, Stroke, or even the rupture of all Organs. When I thought of it, I started to ponder how similar the two are. Seemingly inanimate statues made of fairly common earthly materials, who must be observed at all times, or else. Not to mention their anomalous speed. Both can take effect almost instantly. What got me really interested was when I brought this up to Dr. Trevor Bailey, a Doctor whom I’ve often conversed with, and they asked an interesting question, likely to distract me so I’d stop talking. He asked “What if you triggered both at the exact same time. Which would kill you first?”. While initially a ‘dumb question’, I soon got pulled into the question. 173 has been recorded making ‘scraping sounds’ upon moving, implying that it just moves really fast, rather than teleporting. Whereas 689 seems to act instantly, so it’s more likely that 689’s effect would happen before 173 could kill the target. This question has piqued my interest more than I expected. I’ve considered putting in a request to run this test with a D-Class.

E: Okay, whoever it was that made painted models of both SCP 173 and SCP 689 and put them in my room while I was sleeping, I officially hate your guts. Probably Dr. Clef or Dr. Bright. Additionally, you aren’t getting them back. I’m keeping them becacuse they’re pretty cool.
