I, am a dumb lizard. I was flying away to run from a hoard of mad villagers, and now I’m stuck, in the middle of the air, without knowing how to land.
I sobbed as my huge two pair of wings carried my body and soared high up in the sky. If crashing sounded gentle, I would’ve done so a long time ago. But the word CRASHING itself is horrifying so there’s no way I would want to accidentally close my wings and fall flat on the ground. If I didn’t die, my whole surroundings will perish by my weight.
“Ah mou, what should I do…?” I mumbled to myself, occasionally enjoying the brush of air on my scaly face.
Hm?
Suddenly I saw something moving not too far from me—like an object that’s covered with invisible magic—despite my front view filled with only sky, sky and sky.
“Eh? Am I having auditory illusions now?” Just like that one game I played being a character that slowly became crazy after an isolation for a long time?
“Eh no way~” I wailed in denial, hoping that wasn’t the case.
Unconsciously, I got closer to the object. I mean, my wings did it without my permission and well, what do you expect from a complete beginner to try to manoeuvre wings in this high altitude? A skilful flying?
Hah.
No.
I crashed. Loudly, towards the movement. My cries and another cry resonated through the night air, sounding like Armageddon is near. Along with the fall, I also experienced a loud crash as if a huge rock is completely destroyed. Yet strangely enough, I don’t feel any pain.
The surrounding went silent after a few moments. I peered from my closed eyes to see where I am. Luckily, I am back to the ground. My wings felt a bit sore, but I am finally on the ground!
Yeay~
However, my view is blocked with a shining black wall.
“Eh?” I blinked my eyes in confusion as I sat up on my hind legs.
Flapping my wings unconsciously, I turned my head to look around, still wondering why almost my entire field of view is filled with the black wall. The ground where I’m sitting is definitely a dirty brown color like the color of the earth, yet just nearby me, about a meter away from where I am, it was a wall standing a bit taller than my sitting position.
Suddenly I flinched when I heard an echoing grunt. At the same time, the wall in front of me moved in an upward direction.
Ah, so it’s not a wall. But then, what is it?
“Oh…” I gasped in shock.
In front of me, was a dragon with shining black, almost obsidian like scales. It’s fury red eyes mixed with a tinge of gold stared at me coldly.
“Odd.” Its voice bellowed through the air. “I thought I’ve killed the last of your kind a few centuries ago.”
Instantly I shivered. Did this dragon really said something about killing?
“P…” I fell flat on the ground, presuming a dogeza as I trembled in fear. “P-Please don’t kill me! I am not delicious!” I wallowed.
The black dragon gazed at me long, before it uttered another word, “Never mind. I wasn’t in a mood to kill anyone anyway. Stand up, what are you doing?”
I immediately adhered to his orders and obediently retracted to my sitting position.
“Hm.” The dragon snorted smugly.
“You’re interesting. Most Ildian Dragonoid I met was snobbish due to their blood, but you are pretty compliant.”
I nodded.
Yes, I am amenable. Because I simply don’t want to die by a 120-meter-tall dragon. Like, how big is the dragons in this world? I thought I am big enough?
The black dragon grumbled again and plopped his big head to the ground, causing it to quake a bit. Suddenly I heard a loud grumbling coming from somewhere inside his body I thought there was another monster inside him.
“Ugh…” The dragon wailed. “If only you didn’t crash on me, I would’ve gone razing a kingdom to find some food.” He then flapped one of his big black and golden glistened wings.
“Now I’m hungry and I’m injured.” He sighed.
“Uhm.” I snapped back when I realized I’ve been staring at his majestic wings in awe. I mean, they looked somewhat familiar.
“I don’t think I should ask but, what kingdom do you want to feast on?”
The dragon snorted. “Dunno, probably a nearby kingdom or anything.”
I sucked a sharp gasp. Was he the dragon that will destroy Rustaval just like in the novel’s plot?
“…I won’t let you destroy Rustaval, you know?”
The black dragon looked taken aback, before he suddenly bellowed a guffaw.
“What? Did you give your blessings to that faggot kingdom? Interesting.”
Anger gradually welled up inside me. “They are not a faggot kingdom!”
The black dragon fell into a scrutinizing silence. Then, abruptly standing up, he brought his face closer and shouted, “They are!”
I instantly trembled. What an underhanded technique. Just because he’s bigger, he thought he could use his size to his favour.
“Rustaval won’t be called a coward kingdom if they can just allow women to also get involved in ruling the kingdom. But what you get? They used women as military warriors, sending them to battles with brutes only to get savaged. If you don’t think that what those higher ups done is a cowardice, then you’re also crazy like them.”
I pursed my lips.
Was Rustaval really like that? I don’t have the slightest idea of what Rustaval is really like because it was originally a destroyed kingdom before the beginning of the main plot. But to think they used women to fight in battle…
The black dragon once again snorted. “Forget it. You look young so you probably don’t know much, but there are things in this world that weren’t really beautiful to know.”
The huge dragon closed his eyes.
“Anyways…” His voice suddenly thinned. “I’m too hungry to maintain my form.”
All of a sudden, a gust of golden wind surrounded his huge body. Floating a bit, I witnessed the dragon getting smaller in size, and slowly, changed his form.
“That’s better.” The dragon is now a human. Dark skinned like someone from the middle east, yet with a pair of shining golden eyes, he looks similar to a person that I know. He heaved a relieved sigh and tousled his wavy black hair that reached his shoulders. As he began to stretch his limbs, he looked at me.
“So,” The guy massaged his shoulders. “Can you cook?”
That came out of nowhere. I scratched my scaly cheeks. “Well, a bit I guess?”
“Great!” He smirked.
“Then cook for me.”
I was wondering why I followed his orders to cook for him. I don’t even know him and he’s now a human, which means I can simply kill him if I wanted. Yet, here I am, browsing through the online store looking for utensils that my huge self can use.
“Ugh… What took you so long?” The dark skinned, snobbish guy moaned from afar. He was laying under a tree while I stood somewhere near with my back facing him.
“Shut up, you! You think it’s easy to cook with my size?” I retorted.
The dark-skinned guy pondered.
“Then why don’t you transform into your human form?”
I turned my head to him. “How?”
His eyebrows immediately creased. “You don’t know how?” He scoffed and sat up straight. For the first few seconds, he was laughing loudly. Then the next few seconds, his laughter died down, replaced with a look of disbelief. “A-Are you joking right now?”
No, I’m not. And you better tell me before I spank you with this 54-inch diameter frying pan I was about to buy.
“I don’t know.” I held myself back. Calm down Suna, calm down. You gotta remember that he’s a scary dragon that can raze a whole kingdom easily.
The guy scoffed again.
“You really are just a kid, huh?”
I rolled my eyes and continued to scroll the Online Store. I guess this huge body of mine served a good purpose when the guy didn’t see me opening the shop’s window.
The air between us went silent.
“How about this?” The dark-skinned guy suddenly spoke. “If you managed to cook something delicious for me, I’ll teach you how to turn into a human.”
Instantly my face brightened. “Really?!”
He smirked while nodding his head. “Yeah, really. But you gotta be grateful that this great Rodrigar is about to teach you some tricks. I don’t usually teach people, you know?”
I skipped happily, causing the ground to quake for a bit. But I don’t care, I finally got to return to my human body! I don’t care if I changed back to having a dull feature, but as I thought, living in a human’s body is proven to be better than anything!
Suddenly I froze.
“W-Wait…” My eyes slowly slid down to the guy’s figure. He arched an eyebrow as our eyes met.
“Why are you so kind in wanting to help me?” I gasped and shielded myself. “Don’t tell me you had ulterior motives?”
The guy instantly guffawed. “Me? Having ulterior motives on a child like you? In your dreams, shrimp. You better try again in the next five centuries if you want me to even spare you a glance.”
I grimaced. I admit this dragon looks amazing, but he’s really a bastard.
Huffing angrily, I scrolled the shop at a fast speed. Clicking at the item I wanted to buy, I presented that rude bastard with one of my best dishes I can find, which is actually just my favourite snack.
“Here you go!” Served in grandiose, I showed him a coffee table sized cream puff filled with soft and creamy custard. Take that you little snob.
His jaw dropped in shock.
“What…What is this thing?” His question is exactly the one I expected. I snorted smugly and began my statement.
“This is a creampuff made with my impartial cooking skills. One bite caused you to want more, and I guarantee you the taste is nowhere to be experienced before!”
I ended by fathoming my arms.
The guy gazed at me suspiciously, before then, he bit into the creampuff. “This is good!” He exclaimed.
“I told you right?” I crossed my arms proudly.
After that guy finally finished the creampuff, he licked his fingers. “Okay, you’ve won my interest. I will teach you how to turn into a human.”
“Alright!” I presumed my victory pose.
“Okay.” He stood up. “Follow me.”
“Eh?” I hesitated. “Now?”
“Yeah, now.” He nodded.
“Uhm-” I dithered for a bit, before I motioned to my body.
“With this size of mine?”
He sucked a sharp sigh. “Right, I forgot. Can’t really have a big ass dragon walking at dawn and shocking the farmers now, aren’t we?” He mocked.
I swear I almost lifted my legs and stepped on him. I ought to, but if he’s hurt then I won’t have any more dragons teaching me how to become a human.
The dark-skinned guy began chanting a spell. Sparkly golden dust formed on his palm and soon after, he blew them to me. Little by little, I felt my body change. Seeing how the size of my body shrank and formed into another being, when I came back to it, I was on his palms.
“Great, now it’s easier to carry you.” He smirked.
I gazed at him cluelessly before moving my body. To my surprise, because I don’t know whether I got jinxed by the slime I killed or what, I got turned into a slime.
This is definitely a jinx.
