I guess being a slime is not that bad. The perspective of how you see this world have definitely changed to be a little bit wider than when I was a dragon. And as a plus, I don’t have to walk when all I need to do is chill on this Arabian looking prince’s shoulders. His face looked familiar somehow but I kinda forgot who he is.
The dragon clicked his tongue. “Sheesh, don’t move so much, you. Your skin is cold.”
“What?!” I slithered further from him while displaying a taken aback expression. “You are the one who turned me into a slime, how dare you complain that my skin is cold? What are you, a baby?”
I can see his veins popping from my position. Gritting his jaw, he replied, “I ought to toss you down to the ground and smother you with dirt. Consider yourself lucky for having the luxury of staying on my shoulder.”
I snorted. This bastard, I should have just stomped him when I was a dragon. Who cares if no one won’t be able to teach me transformation, at least anyone is better than an arrogant person like him.
We continued our walk down the dirt path.
After a few minutes of walking that I fell asleep because well, the rocking reminds me of a cradle so I felt sleepy, I woke up to a sudden halting motion.
“Whuh…” I muttered half-sleepy.
“We are here.” He looked down to my direction. “…Don’t you dare wipe your saliva on me.”
I grimaced at him. Who wants to wipe their saliva on you? If you don’t have that trash personality then maybe I would.
Maybe.
Don’t look at me like I am a degenerate, you guys also have that idol that you stan and want to at least be a fanatic and did the unimaginable, right?
Caught you.
Anyways, Rodrigar picked me up from his shoulder and I rested on both of his hands as he crouched down to level with the bushes.
“Do you see what’s in front of you?” Rodrigar pointed his gaze forward. I followed his gaze to the front.
“…Wow…” I saw a wide field spread in front of my eyes. A few people that look like farmers were tending the field, and there are also poultry animals walking around with their owners.
If this field is related to a village, then this is a pretty huge village. The one that I went with Elfina is a few times smaller than this one, and they are more primitive. But this one look much more modern.
“It’s a village.” I answered.
“Good. See those humans?”
I nodded. Though without a neck, I look like I was wiggling my body.
“Eat them.”
……Excuse me?
“What?” I turned to him. Is he crazy?
Even though I gave him a look that says ‘don’t you dare joke with me’ he still shot me a serious gaze, telling me he’s not joking.
I immediately snickered.
“No.” I slapped that deny in front of his face. Even though I am a dragon now, I was a human before and will stay a human at heart. I don’t want to eat my own race; they inflict trauma and they don’t taste good. If you are wondering, how did I know if they didn’t taste good or not is nothing but me copying one of those lines a protagonist from a manga that I have read have said. I have NEVER eaten a human before and will NEVER do so.
“Then how do you suppose I can change into a human? I eat one that is why I can morph into a human.” Rodrigar explained. His explanation didn’t make things better though.
“Still, is there any other way?” I begged. I want to transform into a human so I won’t get hunted, but I also don’t want to commit a brief cannibalism by eating humans.
Rodrigar heaved a perplexed sigh and shook his head. “There is none. You need to get the DNA of the human so our body could alter the information into our own.”
“I-If it’s DNA, then a drop of blood would suffice, right?” That was what I learned in biology back in high school.
Rodrigar threw me a judging look. “Do you think a drop of blood for us huge dragons are enough? I have tried eating a finger before yet I don’t change into a human. In the end, you need to consume them whole.”
I internally shrieked. Is this alright saying things like this? I am not like K**eki K** to have to consume a people to change. Heck, that story is not about changing into a human but about morphing into a ghoul.
Apparently Rodrigar is at the peak of his patience. I could see the veins on his jaw popping again before he stood up and dragged me out from the edge of the forest to the field.
“I don’t have time for all of this. Make it quick and consume one human already.” He gritted his jaw as he talked.
But…
You think I’m just gonna follow him? No, I reached out with my stretchable body and clung onto a tree bark as tight as I could. The two of us then commenced a struggle of power with me gripping on dear life around the tree bark while Rodrigar pulled my body away from the tree.
Rodrigar gave up on pulling me and let me go before he heaved another sigh. “Okay, what do you want?”
I pouted at him. “There must be a better solution than eating humans.”
Rodrigar grunted and rubbed his face. I guess he’s about to get mad at me. “What? You want to look for that solution now?”
I nodded, which gained another grunt from him.
“…Fine. One day. If by this evening you still didn’t get any solution, we are eating a human. I ought to leave you alone here but my sense of conscience just won’t let me.” Rodrigar gave in with a despairing sigh.
“Alright!” I shouted in triumph with this slime body of mine.
Well, I did say I will find a way, but how?
“…Will you leave me alone for a bit? I need to think.”
Rodrigar snorted in response. “The nerve. I want more of that custard whatever bread after we are done.” Although mumbling something beneath his breath that sounded like he was cursing me, he stepped away and sat beneath a tree at a distance from me. I then slithered into one of the larger bushes and opened the online store.
As I scrolled through the bread section, because I want to buy the custard bread for that bastard Rodrigar, and also some for myself. I came up with a weird thought.
What if the online store sells a human?
I pondered a bit, halting myself from scrolling.
“…Ey, no way~” I laughed, while actually trying to ease these growing thoughts. “There’s no way an online shop would sell human body, what am I thinking-”
I unconsciously typed ‘human body’ in the search panel.
GASP!?
I pursed my lips, before slowly glanced sideways to where Rodrigar is. His reaction doesn’t seem like he heard my loud gasp. Then I returned my gaze to the online store.
NO RESULT FOUND
I heaved a relieved sigh. I thought the online shop will scare me by showing a result or something. I was about to tap the back button when I saw another button below the NO RESULT FOUND statement.
SHOW RELATED SEARCH?
“Related search?” I repeated the words. Out of curiosity, I tapped the button and waited for the result to load.

ALTER EGO POTION

- Suitable for those who wanted to change themselves for the better.
- Warning: Your alter ego might not be what you think
- Effect is permanent
- Price: 65 silvers
My brows creased a bit when I looked at the result.
“Alter ego potion? Wait, 65 silver?!” I remarked. That is pretty pricey if I were to say so myself. But for some reason, the name piqued my interest. Alter ego… Does that mean I will get to know my other side that I have no knowledge of? But when it says that the effect is permanent, and my alter ego is not what I think, I kinda hesitate to think what my alter ego will be.
…I won’t be someone bad, right?
I pondered some more while gazing at the picture. It was a small glass flask filled with red solution, just seeing the colour of the fluid gave off that sinister vibe that something unsettling had been mixed inside it.
“Well… Might as well try it. Rodrigar will be there to stop me if I go mad, maybe.” I clicked on the buy option.
CONFIRM PURCHASE
o 1 ALTER EGO POTION
I clicked the confirm button.
Right after I paid the price, the potion came in a form of a small box filled with Styrofoam. The packaging really reminded me of my old world right now.
I inhaled and exhaled as I opened the box. Even though I didn’t drink it yet, I’m pretty nervous. The flask and the liquid are exactly the same as in the picture. I shot Rodrigar a last few glance before I popped open the flask and poured down the liquid into my slime mouth.
I hate to admit it, but even though the liquid is red, and thick, it kinda tasted like strawberry mixed with a citrus-y taste. I smacked my lips several times after swallowing them all.
“Now…” I closed the flask. “Henshin! (Transform)!”
The surrounding went silent. I stayed in my position which looks like a Superman about to fly up while I waited for my change inside the silent air. However, more than five minutes have passed, and I am still a slime.
“…Have I been scammed?” I muttered and retracted my awkward pose. Feeling a bit betrayed, because even though the price didn’t inflict as much damage to my current saving, I still lost a considerable amount of my money just to buy this small potion, I studied the empty flask in my hand.
“The bottle didn’t say anything about the effectiveness. As I thought, I shouldn’t-”
Suddenly my vision went blurry. Not only that, I have to held in the urge to bellow when something painful is churning inside my body.
Has the potion taken effect?
I’m not sure because I fell unconscious soon after that.
