"not so strong now are you my little niece" my uncle said kneeling down with a smile. everything slowed, as the world around me slowly grew darker. 'i have to stay awake' I thought to myself as the everything became quiet. I no longer had any sort of focus on the things around me. I had one goal, one thing I had to do, stay awake.
I saw plenty of movement around me through my blurred vision, and heard muffled voices through my ears that chose to block everything else, but I couldn't move. I had no energy to move, I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep but I knew I couldn't. I knew the moment I did everything would be over, I had to think of a way to snap out of this state, to kick in my adrenaline.
"ARIANNA" Maria yelled as I suddenly noticed I was in her arms. "Maria?" I said "we need to combine our power" she said "we need to burn this place down and I can't do it without you" she stated. "I can't" I said "I so tired" I continued. "just try ok please" she pleaded. after a second I slowly nodded. "I'll take us out of the building and all you need to do is create a tornado" she said.
I suddenly felt myself being lifted off the ground, I was now in my father's arms "I'm sorry he said" his eyes full of regret. he carried me outside and Maria grabbed my hand. "do it" she said it took me a minute. I had no energy, but they needed me. I held out my left arm as far as I could and pointed it towards the sky. a funnel began to form from the sky as I focused all of my energy.
as the funnel began to form into a tornado beginning to land in the middle of the building, fire started coming from Maria's hand right hand and our energy's and powers combined creating a large fire tornado. it began destroy and burn everything. but I had no more energy and the wind... the tornado quickly began to fade.
Maria's Pov
"it's gone" I said as the tornado faded away. I looked at Arianna who was laying in her father's arms now unconscious. "do you think he's gone?" I asked looking at her father. "I hope so" he replied "let's move out!" he yelled to everyone else as he turned around.
"let's go home Maria" he said to me and I nodded and quietly followed behind him
ARIANNA'S POV
"Ari will you just relax" Maria said following me down the long corridor I stopped and turned to face her "Maria I get it you want me to take it easy but seriously I'm fine" I said then turned and walked away. suddenly fire appeared in front of me blocked me like a wall "what the hell" I said turning back to face her once more. "you need to rest it's only been 2 days" she replied. "I'm tired of laying in bed I need to move around" I explained. "you were stabbed through and through with a fucking pipe Ari you shouldn't even be moving" she snapped.
"I CAN TAKE CARE OF MY SELF MARIA!" I yelled at her. suddenly I turned around and removed the oxygen from where the fire was causing the fire to quickly disappear, then walked away.
not much happened over the past 2 days. as I was busy resting from getting stabbed, my father and Maria spent their time going back to the warehouse. I was told they went to see how many lives were lost from the refugees side, but I knew the reality. they wanted to see if my uncle had perished. but there was no way we could be that lucky.
there was no way I could be that lucky...
in another location not to far from where Arianna stood. among burnt wood and metal. it the center of a destroyed building, where burnt bodies laid lifeless but there was one who wasn't.
as he dug himself out of the ruble slowly. his skin was covered in burns from head to toe cover around 60% of his body. "that god forsaken bitch" he said as he stood up. he then began to limp away, anger filling his eyes more with each step "I will kill you Arianna Sinclair"
back with Arianna who was now standing on a roof staring off as the sun slowly went down she began to be lost in thought.
"Arianna?" someone said from behind me "tod right?" I said leaning on the wall "Thomas actually" he said walking closer to me "What gave you the right?" I asked turning to face him"right for what?" he asked "before we even met, you went into my mind, without my permission, and tried to make me relive the most horrible memories I have and now your standing up here talking to me like that didn't happen" I said annoyed.
"I was doing what I was ordered to do it wasn't anything personal" he said. "isn't always" I said pushing past him. "Arianna wait!" he said "can you tell me about it" he said and I stopped in place "tell me what to skip over if I'm ever forced to go back in your mind" he said kindly.
"is that really a story you want to hear" I said turning to him "I think it's one I need to hear so I can understand you" he replied. "everything?" I asked "only if you want" he said.
I didn't know what to think. did I want to tell him. would it make me feel better. should I just keep it to myself. I didn't know what to do but In a way I was almost compelled to.
"My mom died from the sickness" I said "then not to long after I got sick and I remember thinking how scared I was that I was gonna be next" I continued "then one day I was taken and put into this white room, my uncle then used his power on me and after that it was only hell" I said "after that, I felt dead" I said. "I'm sorry but I'm just not ready to talk about it yet" I continued "I understand" he replied "is that all you came up here for to ask about my life story?" I asked. "no actually Stephon our doctor apprentice wants to see you" he said
I was 12 years old when it started. We didn't even realize what was happening at first. Everyone just started getting sick, there wasn't a name for what was happening, at least not at the time. The symptoms of the sickness were as follows.
°Fever
°vomiting
°coughing
And
°Death
A very painful agonizing death not long after hundreds of thousands of people died scientists and doctors noticed people beginning to survive after a month of the sickness killing everyone it infected
Those who got the sickness and survived were forever changed, they got some sort of strange supernatural abilities, like super heros almost. That was when we started calling it The Beginning. Of what we did not know but it was nothing good
