"Wait, so he's not an asshole?" Shoguri's violet eyes glared at him.
"I didn't say that he isn't" replied Yuume, clipping the claws of a very fussy cat that his owner brought to the clinic. "I'm just saying he's smart. I think he's traumatized. And maybe that's why he acts like this."
"So he's a sad asshole" Shoguri nodded and went back to arranging the medicaments on the shelves. "Are you sure you don't want any help with this aggressor?"
"I have thick gloves and healing powers. I don't need help" Yuume trimmed last of cat's claws and lifted the cat up. "Well, Selim, how do you like your short claws?"
Selim hissed and tried to bite his nose.
"He probably doesn't like it" said Shoguri. "Put him down before he fillets you like last time."
"Alright, alright" Yuume put Selim into the carrier. "Are you going to take the patient back to the owner?"
"Doctor. Maaya always at your service" muttered Shoguri, taking the carrier from him. "Come on, madman, let's go to your owner, before she uses up all of our transfer to watch Turkish TV series."
Yuume laughed and sat behind his desk. When Kin hung up on him, he woke up on the floor, being shaken by a worried Shoguri. He explained what had happened, but he didn't feel like talking about what he had seen. Only now did they bring up the case of Kin.
In fact, Yuume didn't know exactly when he befriended Shoguri. Their families have always known each other. Their mothers had the same number of children, of the same gender, of the same age. He knew Shoguri probably even better than Tsuneo.
Well... When Tsuneo, Tereya and Shiori died, it was devastating for both families. Shuichi, Shoguri's older brother, was probably the most affected, aside from Yuume's parents. It's good that when Kin fixes the past, nothing like this will happen.
He should actually ask Kin, how exactly it's going to look like. He preferred to get an answer from someone more reliable than Akiichi, who had been friends with a young yubiwa as a kid.
Besides... He wanted to make sure he was okay.
"Yuume?" Shoguri's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "Are you okay?"
"I think I need a break" replied Yuume. "I'm too distracted."
"Go to sleep in the supply closet before you mistake a cat for a dog. Or a parrot" Shoguri waved his hand towards the door. "Tanaka should be back soon, we'll be okay."
"Thanks, Shoguri" Yuume got up and went to the back room.
It smelled like cleaning supplies in here, but he didn't care. He sat on the bed and took a bell out from his bag.
Why did he care so much about what was going on with that yubiwa for the past week? After all, they didn't know each other, Yuume was only his employer, nothing else.
He put the bell around his neck, laid back and rang it.
A chill swept over his entire body, the liquid darkness pulled him down within itself. This time he wasn't scared. He knew what will happen.
And he wanted it to happen.
"What are you doing here?" he heard, when he opened his eyes.
Kin was standing in front of him and staring at him. His golden eyes were beaming in the darkness.
"I just wanted to ask, if everything is okay" explained Yuume. "Last time we met..."
"I know, I know" Kin waved his hand and walked to Yuume. "You don't have to worry, I'm fine. People have nightmares sometimes."
"But not everyone has such sad eyes" replied Yuume.
Kin seemed to not understand, what's going on.
"Why are you talking about my eyes?" he asked. "Don't care about me so much, we just have a transactional relationship."
"I just wanted to ask you about it" Yuume decided to continue the convesation in the way, which Kin suggested. "I wonder, what would happen with other people. I'm going to receive a remembering potion. What about my parents? What about Tsuneo and Tereya's friends?"
"This question is a better reason to call me" said Kin. "Hmm... How should I explain this to you... Maybe like this."
Kin snapped his fingers. In the middle of nowhere appeared two chairs.
"Let's sit down" he said calmly.
Yuume sat in front of him. He thought that it would be at least easier to talk to him. He didn't have to look down anymore.
"People, who didn't come here, don't notice, when time changes" started Kin. "They just wake up in the morning and everything is just like we set it. Only our clients remember the old version of events. But there are exceptions."
"Exceptions?" repeated Yuume.
"Yes. About death" explained Kin. "If someone's death has traumatized some people, they won't notice the time change. They won't remember the events of the new timeline, until they meet this person. And then it'll be exactly the same as when you drink the potion. They'll remember both the line with the person's death and the line without this event. That's how, precisely because of what happens to people who have experienced someone's death very strongly, the Guild members came up with the idea of creating this elixir many, many years ago."
"So my parents will remember Tsuneo's death?" Yuume was a little worried.
"Yes. But they'll probably think it was just a bad dream when they see him" Kin shrugged. "As long as you don't tell them the truth."
"I understand" Yuume nodded. "Anyway, why did you put the chairs here?"
Kin looked away.
"Kin?"
Kin sighed.
"If you don't want to tell me, then don't" said Yuume.
Kin looked at him and sighed again.
"Because, you know... Talking with you is a little uncomfortable for me" he said strangely queit. "You're tall and I... Well, not."
"I don't think that it's something bad" said Yuume, getting up from a chair.
He walked to Kin.
"You're cute because of that."
Kin blinked. And frowned. He looked like he was trying very slowly and meticulously to translate Yuume's words into his own language in his head.
"I'm not cute" he mumbled.
"You are" Yuume poked his nose. "Even if you deny it."
"GET OUT FROM MY MIND!" Kin, of course not blushing, hang up immediately.
