Curse of the Moonstone- The missing mayor- book 1

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Mar 14, 2023

"Who's house should we do next?" Lizzy asked, turning to Dawn. "We've already searched the whole town. Nobody's got any interesting mysteries they need solving." She flicked her tail and sat down. Dawn looked down at her and raised an eyebrow.
"We should just go back home now," Dawn said, her green fringe covering her right eye. "It's getting late, and I'm sure someone will have an interesting mystery for us to solve tomorrow." Lizzy shook her head stubbornly and Dawn crossed her arms, frowning.
"I don't wanna wait 'till tomorrow," she whined.
"Come on Lizzy, I want to go home now." Lizzy sighed and got up brushing dirt of her wolf ears. She walked ahead with Dawn following, her black back hair flowing behind her.
"No need to get grumpy with me, I'm trying to make sure Jodie doesn't get made at you for being late," Dawn protested. Lizzy took a deep breath and ran down to her house, slamming the door behind her. Shrugging, Dawn left.
Lizzy ignored her mother's polite hello and stormed off to her room. She sat down on her bed, frowning. Lizzy flicked her tail around her pillow and sighed as her pet fox, Evelyn jumped onto her bed, followed by Jessabelle, her wolf pup, both demanding attention.
"Hey Evelyn and Jessabelle," she said, stroking Evelyn's orange fur and scratching Jessabelle behind her ear, as Jodie, Lizzy's mum, entered her room.
"What's wrong hon?" she asked. Lizzy sighed, cuddling into Evelyn.
"No one has any mysteries for us to solve," she said. Jodie sat down and pushed her brown hair behind her.
"You'll think of something, Love," she said, stroking Lizzy's hair. "I know you and Dawn love solving mysteries, but people aren't always going to have something that needs solving."
"I guess."
"Anyway, I'm going to go get us some dinner. Tyler should be over here in a bit.. Around 3:55-ish." Lizzy shrugged, although her heart jumped at the fact that Tyler would be coming over. Jodie left the room and she sighed, leaning against her pillow.
What time is it? she thought, glancing at her phone. 3:45. Not much longer, Mum said around 3:55. Ten minutes later, Lizzy heard a knock on her door.
"Liz?" someone said. "Babe?" he called again. "You in here?"
"Yeah, I am." Tyler opened the door and smiled.
"You OK?" Lizzy shrugged. Tyler walked over to her and plopped himself next to her.
"No one has anything for Dawn and I to solve when school's on." That's when Lizzy and Tyler heard the sound of  a door being kicked down.
