The atmosphere was all set. He lowered the lights and lit rose scent candles all over the place. The table was plated and nicely decorated with flowers and wine. And the chill music in the background completed the scene.
He knew it was a difficult mission, but he had to find a way to convince her to accept his invitation. How, exactly? Well, he had a few speeches prepared. Although, every time he was playing the scenarios in his head, they didn’t seem to have much impact. He was just in the middle of one when the key click made him jump to make sure he gets to greet her before she had a chance to escape.
“Before you say anything, just know that I made a really yummy meal, and it would be a waste to turn it down.” Wait, that wasn’t the speech he prepared.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m starving!” she said cheerfully, taking off her boots and handing him her jacket on her way to the table.
“Oh, ok… That was easy… Please take a seat,” he responded, confused by the sudden change of heart, trying to get his head together by doing random things, like hanging her coat and tidying up her boots.
“Wau, so heavy! They weigh like a ton!”
“It’s 1.4 kilos each. They’re designed to crack a skull in one-on-one combat.”
“Are you Wonder Woman or something?! You wear them so lightly, I never imagined they’d be so heavy…”
“Three years in Special Ops would do the trick.”
“Oh, right, I heard about that. Why did you drop?”
“Oh, half of their missions are just for show while the other half are suicidal. I mean if I ever have a death wish, I’d rather do it on my own terms... Besides, I never intended to stay, anyway...”
“Why do you always wear them, then? It’s not like we’re in a war zone, or something.”
“…Says the guy who was almost burnt alive in his own house!! So, what’s for dinner?”
