Finally, the wedding day has come. The day he never hoped to come but the time he anticipated for it things got messier. He is not sure whether the bride is going to show up or not. Last night things got out of hand. He wouldn’t blame her if she cancels the wedding or decides to change the groom.
Kang Jae Suk, the son of Kang Haejin and Kang Yoora, never let destiny control him. He has been the one controlling his destiny. And now after spending 35 years of his life, for the first time, he is letting fate do its magic. He never believed in marriage after seeing his father getting married twice after his mother’s death.
“You haven’t got ready yet?”
Kang Semi (51 years old), his stepmother enters the room. She might be his stepmother but she doesn’t love him less than her own son. Semi is the reason he said yes to this marriage first place.
At the age of 23, she got married to her elder sister’s husband. It wasn’t something she had wished for. Her parents didn’t take her ‘NO’ for an answer. She didn’t have a boyfriend nor she liked someone so what is so wrong with getting married to someone they wished for? It’s not like the marriage is what she had to deal with only. She had to take care of a 7-year-old child too.
Semi is a woman with a strong aura. Taking care of a child and a husband which was not her own, was hard for her. But she never complains nor shows her tiredness. In the end, she won both of their hearts and made her own place. Now that doesn’t mean she let them forget her elder sister Yoora either.
“Mother... I am nervous.”
“You better be. After all, it’s you who has to make sure that she is comfortable.” Semi said with a smile. Her son is getting married. Seeing him nervous is making her realize that he is ready to take someone else’s responsibility. For a mother, her child is always a kid.
“The age gap…..
“It’s only 10 years’ Semi pinches his cheek. He used to have so many chubby cheeks, She wonders where they are gone now. ``Your father and I have a 14 years gap. Also, I had to deal with a naughty kid with a runny nose.”
“I don’t remember anything about being naughty let alone having a runny nose.”
“I remember’ She takes his tuxedo and helps him to wear it. ‘ Get ready faster or I will tell everyone about it.”
Jae Suk looks at himself in the mirror and then at her mother. She was very young and beautiful when she entered the Kang mansion, but now that beautiful face has gotten a few wrinkles.
“Thank you for being the mother I needed.”
“Thank you for being the son I needed. I can’t believe you’re getting married.”
She takes the bow “I wonder….
They both hear the door knocking. Lee Eun Ha (35 years old) enters inside.
Semi smiled at her and said, “Eunha, good timing, I have no idea how to tie a bow, could you do that for me?”
“Shouldn’t there be people who can help me?”
Semi turns to Jaesuk “No, everyone cares about the bride. It’s her day. Also, all of your friends are having hangover soup. What did you all do last night?” Semi’s question made both Eun Ha and Jae Suk uncomfortable for a second.
Semi didn’t notice it so she gave that bow to Eunha and said, “Help him, I’ll go look for Tao.”
Semi went out after looking at Jaesuk for one last time. Eun Ha rounds the bow around his shirt collar and starts tying it.
“I am sorry. Because of me…..”
“No. It was me. I should have told her before.”
Lee Eun Ha, Jaesuk’s step-sister. She is the daughter of Lee Eun Ji (62 years old), Jaesuk’s father’s second wife. They had a marriage life for hardly a year. Eun Ji got married to Haejin for money. She was and still is a good actor. She acted really well and convinced everyone that she will shower her love on Jae Suk.
But after marriage, she thought it would be useless to continue her act, which in the end led them to divorce. She didn’t get a single penny of what she demanded though. Haejin had a soft corner for Eun Ha. She is a simple person. She never liked luxurious things, unlike her mother. No one saw her wearing something flashy or sparkly. He used to send enough money for Eun Ha to live happily and do what she liked.
Eun Ha runs an NGO that helps children in need, and Kang Haejin is the biggest donor there. Unlike her mother, Eun Ha is considered a family member. Jae Suk and Eun Ha are the same age. They never had a sibling bond nor do I think they will ever have one. She was more of a friend to him.
“I am the one to blame too. It wouldn’t have happened if I had said no. How can I forget I have my mother’s blood in me.”
“Hey, you are way different than her.”
“I hope you have a happy married life.”
“Same. Start looking for the right one. It’s never too late.”
Jaesuk is alone waiting at the alter for his bride to come. His bride is no ordinary woman. She might be young but that doesn’t mean she is weak. A fine elegant woman she has turned out to be. He wants to shower her with love and protect her. But one is going into his mind will his bride show up or not?
