Chapter 2: Town Silverlya
Majesty’s POV
Lapis and Majesty were walking alongside each other through the busy streets of the sorcerer-filled town by the name of Silverlya, which was named after the Silver royal family since they were the ones who first built this town from the ground up. Eventually, the two other royal sorcerer families by the name of Zinnia and the Swans, which were in neighboring towns to Silverlya, possessed strength nearly as powerful as the Silver royal family. The magical capabilities of the Zinnia and Swans royal families alone made them become the Silver’s most trusted allies, but it was mostly due to their efforts to assist the Silver royal family during the Great Sorcerer War.
The buildings that outlined the streets of the town ranged from being shops that sold magical items to delicious treats that could even be shaped like animals, such as sheep. Even if someone wasn’t looking for a particular shop, there was sure to be one that caught someone’s eye.
Majesty, while walking alongside Lapis, had his hands tucked behind his neck as the two of them continued onwards, passing by people who were going about their everyday lives, whether that be chatting among themselves or purchasing goods.
Majesty’s attention was soon grabbed as soon as he saw Lapis glance over at him from the corner of his orangey amber eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Majesty asked as he raised an eyebrow at her.
“Hey, is it just me, or does everyone seem more cheerful compared to how they normally are?” Lapis said in a low whisper, so Majesty would be the only one to hear her.
Majesty turned his head to his right to speak to her in the same whispery tone, “Well, it could be because the town is preparing for two upcoming festivals this year, according to the flyers I saw just a few days ago,” he stated with a smile on his lips.
Lapis raised her right eyebrow as soon as he mentioned the town was going to have upcoming festivals, “Festivals? Since when do they have festivals around here? Did the flyers you saw say anything specific about the events?” she asked him with curiosity lacing her words.
“Well, uhhh…” Majesty said as he appeared to be deep in thought.
It wasn’t long before Lapis gave him a deadpan look. “You gotta be kidding me. I should’ve figured. You didn’t exactly read the details about the festivals on the flyers, did you” Lapis asked him with a look in her eyes, saying that she could see right through him while at the same time not being surprised by his lack of knowledge about the details.
“Well, n-no, but in my defense, the one flyer had barely any details and an image on the front that I can’t remember, but it mentioned something new they wanted to do this year. But the other flyer was about a masquerade event that will be happening not too long from now, and it was way more flashy than the other poster, so it makes sense if I only paid attention to that one,” Majesty said casually as if trying to prove his innocence for his lack of knowledge, but it was clear in his eyes that he knew Lapis wasn’t going to let it go, she never did.
“Wow, way to save your cluelessness.” Lapis mocked him playfully as she leaned in close with a toothy grin on her lips.
“H-hey, at least I remembered the other flyer. Isn’t that what is important? I mean, sure, it took me a couple of minutes, but---“ Majesty started before he was cut off by that voice of hers that sounded like a sweet melody.
“Uh, huh. It just sounds like you’re trying to cover up your forgetfulness, and if you ask me, you’re pretty forgetful. But I’ll make a deal. I’ll let it slide if you buy me two raspberry cupcakes in town today,” she said in a teasing voice as she clasped both of her hands together and let her hands rest behind her as she leaned her body forward a bit as she looked over at him.
“What is it that Adrian says about you? Oh, yeah, that you’re a real handful,” Majesty said with a sly grin as he looked over at her face, that soon started to become dusted with a pink hue.
“H-hey, I am not a handful, and that stupid blonde jerk, I swear, I’m going to make him pay for calling me a handful behind my back,” Lapis said, completely flustered by Majesty’s handful remark. How would she get back at the blonde known as Adrian? Easy, she would play a trick on him as soon as the opportunity arose.
“Also, don’t be mean to me like Adrian. Why do you think I didn’t ask him to come with me? Plus, that guy is always grumpy to some degree. Also, you don’t think I’m a handful, do you?” Lapis said, her voice sounding like Majesty’s answer could break her entire world into pieces at that very moment.
“Hmm, you know if we don’t hurry up, those cupcakes are going to get cold, “ Majesty said with a grin before running off ahead of her to the nearby bakery.
“Hey, wait up, you jerk! Answer my question!” Lapis said before quickly running after the redhead, who was chuckling to himself.
It didn’t take them long to be enveloped in the sweet scent of vanilla and cinnamon as soon as they entered the bakery, making their mouth water.
After a couple of moments passed after they were done ordering a plate soon was sat down in front of them with four cupcakes. The cupcakes were made out of fluffy red velvet that was enveloped in pink paper and topped with raspberry-flavored frosting that was a lighter shade of pink compared to the pink wrapper surrounding the cupcake and to finish it off, a fresh raspberry was placed on top of the frosting. It wasn’t long before the two of them took two bites to savor the sweet raspberry flavor of the cupcake.
After the two had finished the cupcakes, they spent the rest of the day goofing around; before long, the moon had swallowed up the sun, and the stars stretched across the night sky, twinkling brightly.
It was shortly after nightfall had taken over the town that Majesty and Lapis had decided to sit upon a roof of a building to look up at the glistening stars above them.
“Hey, Majesty do you think what Adrian says is true that we should stop coming into town because each time we do, it only increases our risks of something bad happening to---“ Lapis started as she looked over at Majesty on her right before he cut her off with a sigh.
“Man, I gotta stop letting you hang around Adrian before he rubs off on you more. Before I know it, you’ll be filled with the same worries and concerns as him.” Majesty said as he shifted his body from where he was sitting so that all of his attention was focused on her.
“I’m not joking, Majesty. I’m being serious right now. It’s been crossing my mind each time we do go into town, even if I am the one who suggested that we go into town today for some cupcakes,” Lapis said, her voice laced with an honesty that made it clear to Majesty that she wasn’t joking about the matter at hand like she normally can at times. She rested her chin on the top of her knees as she looked onward towards the forest in the distance from the town.
Majesty let out another small sigh knowing that he had to answer her question and it wasn’t something he could simply ignore and save for later.
“Fine, you win, but Adrian tends to over-exaggerate things, besides as long as we maintain our human forms, how will they ever figure us out? Besides, there are only six of us; it would be pointless for them to come after us since there aren’t seven dragons still remaining,” Majesty said honestly.
Lapis soon frowned at him since, to her, it still sounded like he was dodging her question or making it way more light-hearted than it should be. Just as she was about to open up her mouth to speak up, she was shut up by her own surprised squeak as Majesty decided to scoot closer to her before resting his head against her shoulder.
“I’m cold; can’t you scoot closer to me?” Majesty said innocently, as if he wasn’t doing all this on purpose.
Lapis’s cheeks were dusted with a dark shade of pink, “H-hey, that isn’t fair. You can’t just stupidly lean closer to me out of the blue! Also, I’m still not satisfied with the answer you gave me,” she said just barely since she was a cute flustered mess, and her complaint came out more as a whine, which only made Majesty chuckle at her.
As soon as she heard his chuckle, she bonked him on the head with her left hand with enough strength to cause a small sting, “Owwww, so mean.” Majesty whined at her.
“It’s your fault for chuckling at me, stupidly leaning into me, and I dislike the answer you gave me,” she complained with a frown.
“You could’ve made it easy for me by only complaining about one thing, besides you could easily move if you wanted to,” Majesty pointed out with a small grin.
“Sh-shut up, that’s only because I don’t want you to catch a cold; otherwise, I would’ve let you freeze,” She said with a pout.
“Sureeeee, that’s a good reason. Also, I was being serious earlier. Adrian tends to make things seem way worse than they really are, and if things were so dangerous as he claimed, then we wouldn’t have survived this long, right?” Majesty said as he looked into the distance with her.
She let out a small sigh of her own, “I suppose you’re right, but you owe me for stealing by body heat,” she said, which only resulted in another chuckle from him.
“Oh, how could I have been so wrong? If only I hadn’t been so clueless, why did things have to turn out like this….”
