Andrius stood by his office window, watching Nash undergo his daily training routine. He took in the sight of Nash's black hair and piercing grey eyes as he moved through the rigorous training, his tanned skin glistening with sweat. Despite his slim build, Nash's muscles rippled like a cheetah's as he performed the exercises with precision and agility.
Today too, the omega bodyguard was giving his best in the training. No matter how many times he fell, or how tired he was, Nash would get up and do his best to keep up with the training. Andrius was impressed by his determination and resilience.
He was still enthralled by the picture outside the window when the door to his office suddenly opened. The man looked up to see Dimitri, the head of the Yaskov group security team, walking in with a scowl.
"What is it, Dimitri?" Andrius asked, his voice cold and reticent.
"It's about your bodyguard, Nash," Dimitri replied, his voice shaking slightly. "I think you need to reconsider hiring him."
"And why is that?" Andrius asked, his gaze still fixed on the window.
Dimitri let out a frustrated sigh.
"Well, sir, he's an omega. I don't think it's safe to have him as your bodyguard."
Andrius' eyes narrowed. He had no patience with people who let their prejudice interfere with their judgment.
"Dimitri, I don't care if Nash is an omega, an alpha, or a beta. He has proven himself to be a capable and trustworthy bodyguard, and that's all that matters to me," Andrius said, his voice cold."He tried to save my life during the mockup test, remember?"
Dimitri scoffed. "That was luck, sir. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time."
"Luck or not, Nash was prepared to take a bullet for me. That kind of loyalty and dedication is not easy to come by."
"Sir you have to understand that having an omega as your bodyguard is a risk we cannot afford to take. What if he enters his heat while on duty? What if he cannot keep up with the physical demands of the job?"
As the head of security continued to argue his case, Andrius kept his eyes on Nash outside. As Nash went through his training routine, his body moved with a fluid grace that Andrius found mesmerizing. Andrius had to admit, he was becoming increasingly interested in Nash. The omega had put himself in harm's way, prepared to take a bullet for him. This was before he knew who Andrius was or his worth
Sure, he had many people willing to protect him. But Nash was the first who was willing to sacrifice himself without expecting anything in return.
He was certain the omega would make the same decision, even if he were a mere beggar.
How could someone be so stupid?
As he watched, Nash caught his eye and smiled, and Andrius looked away. Andrius realized that he was on the cusp of something dangerous. He could feel the stirrings of desire in his gut, which he desperately tried to keep under control. After an immense amount of effort, Andrius finally looked back at Dimitri.
He studied the head of security with a piercing gaze.
"I see," he said slowly. "So you're saying that Nash is not capable of doing his job because he's an omega?"
Dimitri nodded hesitantly. "Yes, sir, that's what I'm saying."
"And have you evaluated Nash's performance as a bodyguard objectively, based on his skills and experience?"
Dimitri hesitated. "Well, sir, I mean, we haven't seen any problems yet, but-"
Andrius's voice was cold and reticent.
"I think we need to evaluate Mr Hayes fairly, based on his abilities and performance. If he meets the expectations for his role, then he stays. If not, then he goes. Simple as that."
Dimitri nodded slowly.
"I understand, sir. But it's not just me. Some of the team members are also concerned about it."
Andrius cut him off with a sharp gesture.
"Do I need to repeat myself? If he doesn't meet the expectations for his role, then by all means, you can fire him. But if he does, then I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself."
Dimitri seemed to think otherwise but remained silent under Andrius's overpowering aura, giving a reluctant nod.
"Good," Andrius said, dismissing him with a wave of his hand. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do."
Dimitri left the room, muttering under his breath about how an omega was unfit for such important work. Andrius ignored him, lost in his thoughts about Nash and the possibilities that lay ahead.
Three months later, despite Dimitri's doubts, Nash proved to be a remarkable student, surpassing all expectations and becoming the top of his class.
Bonus: at the end of the chapter is an image of how Andrius looks. I made this image using imgcreator coz I'm broke lmao. Please, if your drawing looks like this, tell me and I'll take the image down right away.
